Shooting upside down results in self damage

Recommended Posts

Self explanatory, shooting while upside down should have impact force and self damage (for turrets that support splash damage or ricochet) I dont see why this isnt in the game already

I don't mind being killed while upside down. I'll respawn a lot faster.

Sometimes flipping over isn't your fault, so why the punishment? Your teammates can respawn under you and make you flip. Some tanks are good at running under other tanks. In the heat of battle, a teammate can accidently run under you causing you to flip. My Titan has been flipped that way a few times.

In the game's current physics, only shooting into another medium from a different medium causes impact force. This is why you get pushed back while shooting a wall, another tank or the ground with Thunder, Magnum etc and not when you just shoot randomly in the air (remember, I'm not talking about recoil of the turret, I'm talking about the impact force generated). However, since the turret has no actual "hitbox", it goes inside the ground and now, it is completely in one medium, the ground. Therefore shooting when you're flipped produces no impact force.

in many simpler words, think of the air as Medium A, the ground as Medium B. When you shoot from Medium A to Medium B (shoot while standing in the air into the ground), impact is produced. When you're just shooting randomly openly in Medium A (the air), no impact is produced. Same is the case with Medium B (the ground). This is also the reason why turrets can hit other flipped tanks and deal damage to deal while being flipped as well. So if this idea is to be implemented, there are two possible solutions in my mind:

  • Give the turrets hitboxes - making Magnum and a couple other turrets incredibly overpowered for Golds and lots of other things.
  • Change the physics of the game - destabilizing the game for a while, requiring lots of testing, in which a lot of bugs and glitches can happen.

Either way, I think it's best if you just self-destruct, wait those five seconds and get into battle.
