Tanki tactical maneuvers

 Share

Recommended Posts

Here is a list of tactical maneuvers which are handy especially when facing a superior tank. I use them all the time in battles, and they allow me to destroy tanks with far better firepower and armor.

I hope you find them useful XD. Toward the end is where there are tricks made up by other players.

Mine Retreat -

when closely pursued by an enemy tank, lay a mine, and drive in a straight path with the mine in between you and the enemy tank. By the time the mine is activated, the tank chasing you will already be on top of it! I've tried this technique and it's worked wuite well, killing even druggers.

Ramming -

with armor of about middle class mass charge at the side of an enemy tank (this works better with nitro) and tip him over. After tipping him over, you can destroy him easily at your leisure. Although any tank of any mass can do this maneuver, I find that small tanks like wasp are too small, and large tanks like Titan are too slow. Dictator armor works fine, though I recommend using hornet or Viking. This tactic is especially effective against low profile, heavy armor, such as titan.

Flanking -

with a fast and small tank (wasp m2 or m3) equiped with freeze, isida, or firebird, charge at a large tank with a railgun, and rapidly circle the tank, hugging its sides while firing your weapon. Rapidly circling will allow you to avoid being hit, because the muzzle of the railgun is too long, and also, it turns at a very slow rate. Eventually, the enemy tank will be destroyed by your weapon.

Evasion -

in large, open stages, in which railguns are exclusively used (Stadium, Massacre) using a nitro, with a fast chassis such as wasp or hornet, rapidly charge straight forward and backward perpendicular to the enemy tank. The ramp up time before the railgun fires will allow you to escape its aim. This is useful when you are carrying an enemy flag.

Ambush

When in a stage with superior tanks, drive near a pair of battling tanks and hide behind an object. After one tank finally destroys the other, ambush it as it drives off, using perhaps one of the maneuvers mentioned above.

Haunted Tank

This tactic is for maps in which you can fall off the edge (i.e. island). After being destroyed and your ghost tank appears on a different part of the map, find an enemy tank and drive into him. Seeing your ghost “haunting” him, he will proceed to drive off the edge of the map and thus destroy himself. As you can see, this tactic only works with extremely stupid players, but I have tried this technique and it has worked several times.

chriswu maneuver

This signature maneuver is used to escape multiple superior foes at close range on maps with multiple levels such as Silence. Using a hornet and railgun m3, position yourself near a ledge facing the enemy tanks. Activate a nitro, then rapidly accelerate backwards towards the ledge. Just as the tip of your tank is about to pass across the edge, fire your railgun toward your foes. The recoil from the railgun will propel you backwards, putting spin on your tank, allowing you to do a flip as well as damage or destroy the opposing tanks, while effectively moving out of the firing range of any surviving tanks. For even more deadly effect, activate a double power drug. This trick is fairly hard to execute, and if not done properly, you could end upside down when you land on the next level below the ledge. Although this has the same effect as firing your railgun, then driving off the edge of a ledge, this is how you do it in style. 8)

Lawn Mower

Using a Firebird or Freeze equipped on a relatively fast chassis such as hornet, attack a group of tanks all bunched up in a line while charging at them. The tanks will all be destroyed in rapid succession while you mow through them, hence the name of this maneuver.

Tip over -

Wait by a steep ramp for an enemy tank to drive up. As the tip of the enemy tank just passes the top of the ramp, charge at your foe, tipping him/her over. Once tipped upside down, the tank can be easily destroyed. The first impulse when seeing a superior tank driving up the ramp will be to retreat and fire, but using this method, you can destroy any tank of any rank and capability without even getting damaged.

Special Attacks

These attacks and maneuvers only work against certain chassis or weapon equipped opponents, but are very effective if executed correctly.

1.Thunder negate attack

Press your tank against an enemy tank equipped with Thunder. The huge splash of the weapon can cause the tank equipped with it to take damage as well.

2.Dictator negate attack

Because of the high elevation of the turret mounted on a Dictator, you can avoid being hit by pressing your tank equipped with a low mass chassis close to the enemy tank. By doing this, if you press against the front part of the Dictator, you can avoid being hit by projectile weapons, but not close range weapons, such as freeze, firebird, or isida. However, if you press your tank close to the sides or end of the chassis, you can avoid being damaged by most all turrets, except for maybe isida.

rico technicez (SavadorSTM) -

To do this u must aim your focus camera so that it is facing the top of your tank.

It works great in small maps like island where you have freezes camping

Use the Rico on the walls to hit enemy tanks without having to even get hurt

Bombing (SavadorSTM) -

To do so you must be in higher elevation than your enemy.

Jump on your enemy and release a mine. Wait 3 secondz and... Cha cha u bombing!!!

Jump attack (SavadorSTM) -

Works great in madness map

When jumping down and using recoil to land properly try hitting ur enemies while falling. If using thunder once your down you are already ready for your next shot railgun takes a bit longer...

Strategies

Plowing (Contaminated)-

Go strait for your goal and only shoot enemies in your way without EVER turning your turret. (works best with rico/twins)

You fail I kill (SavadorSTM)-

When attacking with Viking + thunder vs another Viking + thunder m0 all (for example) always take the fourth shot

This means you self destruct but still kill ur opponent (knowing how many shots till ur enemy dies is very important)

Peek and Fire (DarkStarz) -

Very common for railers vs railers. One rail shows part of its tank making the other railer think hes showing himself. But instead of showing yourself, quickly move back and the railer USUALLY misses (Sometimes the slightest touch killed me). Then you take your shot at him.

The Mehdadoo (Mehdadoo) -

When facing head up on another rail gun, thunder, Smokey, etc. aim for one side of the opponent's tank to knock their shot off target. Then procede to kill them.

Run fire (DarkStarz) -

When having a long range weapon that isn't the rail gun facing a short range weapon that is chasing you, don't try to ram them, run backwards while firing. (Best works with twins, rico or thunder, even smokey at times). Though you have to watch where your going, if you run into a wall, you might die.

Don't follow me (DarkStarz) -

If you have a weapon where you know you can kill about every tank in the other team (Rail gun m3 (One hit) and you have the flag and you KNOW that a enemy is chasing you and its near by, don't let it continue to chase you if it has a long range weapon, just fire at it or have a battle with it. From my own experience, this tatic saved me a couple of times.

The isida advantage (DarkStarz) -

The isida's range is the shortest in the game, but whats good about the range? It doesn't have to be straight foward, it can be downwards, upwards as well. So in games like silence and you are on the top part of the map. Feel free to recharge your health when a tank below you is crossing, but better yet, in most cases, they can't attack you unless they move back!

Tag Along (king_beast88 ) -

When a teamate goes for the flag and gets it, drive behind him/her with a railgun, use double damage with the rail, and keep the respawns from attacking the flag carrier by postioning in between the attackers and my teamate, taking the damage instead while he/she gets away.

Siege Tactic (St.Evergreen) -

The main goal of this tactic is to prevent the enemy from capturing your flag. This tactic only works in medium to large maps with minimum 3 players on each team. When the map is medium or large I mean the map is literally large but not like Madness or Gravity because there are a lot of ways in which an enemy can get to your base. The best maps that are ideal for sieging are Silence and FK II. I've seen this tactic executed among high ranked players like Majors.

In order to siege a base, all players on a team must invade the enemy's base simultaneously. Since not all enemies would be guarding the flag, that leaves the enemies' base vulnerable to a large invasion. Basically, sieging is to abandon your base and take over the enemy's base. Being outnumbered and underpowered, the enemies are pulverized by the other team. Then you spawn rape them by taking the advantage that not all enemies will be respawning at once so one spawns, kill that player; then another spawns then kill that player; and so on. This way the enemies cannot leave their base because once they spawn they will be killed.

However, not all enemies would be at their base when that happens; so it's inevitable that your flag will be taken. Don't go back to your base when that happens because if they can't get to their own flag base, there's no way they can capture your flag. So when they return to their own base, you ambush them so they respawn here again then you spawn rape them. This tactic leaves the enemies immobilized so like most of your teammates are keeping the enemies at their base, you can sneak off with the enemies' flag and then capture it because there's no one in your base.

This tactic is very difficult to perform because it needs the cooperation of all the players on a team. However, if executed correctly, the enemies will not be able to leave their base. Before they can even aim at you, they're probably gonna be dead. This tactic good at Silence because the bases are small and there are only 2 ways to get to each others' base. From the steep slope or you go the long way. It's best to evenly distribute your teammates to each route when you're sieging because if all of your teammates go the long way; some enemies will escape and take the steep slope up to your base and take your flag. It's best to let 0 enemies get into your base when you're sieging because this tactic will leave your base vulnerable to anything.

Specific Map Strategies

Smart Thief (Contaminated) -

When in Fort Knox II, try to get the flag by entering the enemy's base from the left, the side where the broken wall is. Hide behind the first building and wait until there are few enemies at their base. Keep your eye on the "kills" to make sure no enemies are getting killed. No enemies being killed means that most of them probably have low health and will die by the time you get the flag. It also means that no enemies will spawn within a couple of seconds. When the enemy base is clear, or an enemy spawns behind you (which is unlikely), go for the flag. Make sure when leaving from behind the first building, you drive on the side closer to the fort. this will save you a couple of shots if a twins user spawned behind you. He will probably follow you, so on the next building (beside the flag) you go behind it on the side closer to the cliff. Meanwhile, the stalker will be on the side closer to the fort, hoping to get some shots on you when you try to get to the ramp, but you will not go for the ramp, you will reverse as soon as you get the flag, traveling by the exact same root only backwards. Meanwhile, the ***** stalker will think you are hiding behind a building and come looking for you, this will give you lots of time to escape. Now your escape route. To minimize the amount of damage you will take, exit the enemy base from the center. then turn left, that way, the campers on the enemy balcony cant shoot you, then turn left again to the broken wall thing on your base instead of going into the center entrance of you base, this will prevent those annoying campers that shoot into your base from their balcony from hitting you. They can still shoot you if you turn left, but it is very hard and if they do shoot you, the flag can easily be taken by someone on your team because it is more visible and closer. On your escape, kill anyone that is in your way (even teammates if the problem is serious) but don't get distracted by other enemies, friendly isidas (they will heal you anyway, dont wait for them to heal) and crates. That way you can capture flags more easily, but beware, the enemy might figure out your strategy after a while! Most importantly, never, ever, use this to rob a bank!

Farm Maneuver (skitee) -

Get a teammate to cover, and then make a dash into the enemy base with drugs. Grab the flag and then head round to the edge of the map. Leap off the edge, pointing your tank towards your own base, and at the last moment before you fall press "f".

You will self-destruct, but your covering teammate can get the flag and capture.

Any other maneuvers? PM me and I will publish them on this list! (I'll mention that you made them up) or, you could simply post a description of your maneuver trick with hopefully a video. I'm trying to figure out how to take videos of gameplay on my computer; does anyone know how to? PM me, or make a post.

The haunted tank doesn't work if your slower then the enemy. If I know i am not as strong as the enemy, I just basically wait till I get help before I spawn out. Anyhow, you people named almost all of them, can't think of any others.

But one really simple tatic I think you have not mentioned was the "peek and fire". very common for railers vs railers. Haunted Tank –

The die because they don't want u to kill em so u will get points.

It works best with m3 twins .And m0 thunder can flip dictators without nitro.... :?

ok I'll put that one in.

you'd think so, wouldn't you, Raaish? But one time I did this on a player (who will remain anonmymous, but you know who you are) who had taken our flag, then, when I haunted him, he drove off the edge. At that time, I was way less powerful then he was. He had an m3 wasp with firebird m2, whereas I had hunter m1, and smoky m3. My smoky was more upgraded then his firebird, sure, but two things: 1. he was way faster then me, so instead of driving off the edge, he could have made a break for it and captured my team's flag, but he didn't. 2. if I spawned close to him, he could have easily destroyed me with his firebird, because I was at such a close range.

If I see this again I'll post a pic. You'll be amazed.

Here is a maneuver I use on ctf games espcially large maps. When my teamate goes for the flag and gets it. I drive behind them with railgun and use double damage with my rail to ohko the respawns from attacking the flag carrier by postioning myself in between them and my teamate taking the damage instead while they get away. I didnt invent it is just the same as isdia users except i dont have it lol.

The Steal

Better when using a fast and high health tank, like a Dictator M2, Hornet M1 or a Viking.

On newbie levels, use Hunter, never use Titan.

So, keep on the front of who is with the flag. (Works better on Fort Knox II)

Try getting stuck somewhere, so that he will die trying to destuck u. (On fort know II a great place is the small ramp, by getting stuck on the small door.)

Then get the flag, use Nitro and Double armor, and run like crazy to capture it. (Whenever someone try to do this with u, enable nitro and double armor and Ram him)

Ive did it a lot, u can do it too by a much more simple way: follow him and attract all enemies to kill him.

Why using a fast high armor tank? Cause everyone will aim at u. dont try using too light ones with nitro, or a laser may flip u.

you joined only a month ago, and you have a railgun?!

P.S. I'm not really sure if this is a maneuver

It looks like you joined today, but already have quite a bit of tanki wisdom. Think of a more applicable name, and I'll put it in the list. You're not really stealing anything in this tactic, you're just kind of sacrificing yourself.

@ chriswu Yes I am a staff sergeant I play againt higher ranks in team battles to steal kill more points. True this may not be a offensive maneuver but riding close to you're flag gunner and taking the hits for them while at least halving the health of the closest enemies is defensive tactic that works.

I don't exactly know if there are maneuvers but I'll try them anyway.

1. Run fire

When having a long range weapon that isn't the rail gun facing a short range weapon that is chasing you, don't try to ram them, run backwards while firing. (Best works with twins, rico or thunder, even smokey at times). Though you have to watch where your going, if you run into a wall, you might die.

2. Don't follow me

3. The isida advantage

I'll add it, just clarify this what this sentance means:

Keep your eye on the "kills" to make sure no enemies are getting killed.

Also, try to get rid of the word "*****"

Here's my lecture and this is actually my notes from my history class :XD:

At least its not a wall of text like Contaminated's.

Farm Manoeuvre:

Everyone knows this manoeuvre, but if your team is being owned in Farm there is only one way to capture the flag. It can be used on both teams Get a teammate to cover, and then make a dash into the enemy base with drugs. Grab the flag and then head round to the edge of the map. Leap of the edge, pointing your tank towards your own base, and at the last moment before you fall press "f".

You will self-destruct, but your covering teammate can get the flag and capture.

Any other maneuvers? PM me and I will publish them on this list! (I'll mention that you made them up) or' date=' you could simply post a description of your maneuver trick with hopefully a video.

Use Camstudio (google that)

Thanks for that tip.
