I sure hope TankiX is not the direction of TankiOnline.  I didn't care fot TX at all...the graphics were interesting at first, but got distracting after the initial couple of battles. What a lame and needlessly confusing game.  There is as much downtime as TO.  

 

I played about twelve games...I forgot to verify my email for the first five or six games.  It took forever to download and install.   It refused to install on my computer where I wanted it to install...it has to go where it wishes to go or you get a missing .rtf file that won't load which keeps the game from opening.  It took a very long time (maybe thirty to forty minutes) for the game to "initialize"   I just about cntrl-alt-deleted out of the game and fooey on the 10 containers.  It's also inconvenient that it only opens and then stays in full screen.

 

After 12 games, I can say that I don't care for TX at all....I doubt I will ever open it again.  I plan to uninstall it as soon as the ten containers come through.

 

What I really can't fathom is why AP would spend time and resources on two games that are very similar.

Apart from part about a missing file, that's word for word my experience of TX. Including forgetting to validate e-mail. It's a bad sign when I do 5 battles on a game, then realise I forgot to validate and sigh and facepalm cos I have to do 5 more battles, I should have been happy to do 5 more battles. Says it all.

an hour max. Can't remember if training battles are shorter or not, there's been alot of changes in the year and 8 months I've been playing.

Guys, I know TX is different, and it is hard (I am bozo_master on the forum, I complain about matchmaking and maps a lot :) but I ask you to please bear with the game, and at least login for the first 15 days and get the free lot, and then log in August to collect the Season reward. If you do this, though you may not plan on playing TX fullscale for another year or so (until they finish fixing dumbness and some bugs), when you do go to play you will have a small advantage instead of letting it go to waste.

 

I am making a video about beginning in TX, it will be out sometime between this afternoon and Monday.

I played a few more games....damn it makes my computer run super super hot...like scary dangerous hot.  Anyone have any ideas why this would be?  Regular Tanki is fine and the computer runs perfectly, but you could cook eggs with the air that is venting when TankiX runs.  It's much hotter than a hair dryer.

Reasonable question.

 

This promotion is overtly an attempt by Alterniva to grow the Tanki X. That’s fine. Growth is good.

 

I also get their perspective on offering a promotion to Tanki Online players. The games are so similar that Tanki Online players are the most likely customers to engage and remain active in TX. They’re right.

 

But here on the forum, we’re cynical, and we see a lot of talk about shrinking player counts. Now the designers lure us to play a new game. We’re naturally suspicious about the conpany’s ulterior motives and concerned that this may be an attempt to speed up the decline and closure of the game we love to hate, yet can’t stop playing.

 

But I’m with the mods on this one. Tanki Online is not throwaway, as evidenced by the significant game changes and improvements we’ve seen in the last year and a half. Now we have e-sports, a new War, and Juggernaut all on the horizon. Alterniva is not abandoning this game.

You can uninstall it when you finish 5 games and will still get your reward. Keep or not game to your PC will not affect your reward.

I have a 2008 macbook pro, I set the graphics for as low as possible and don't play full-screen but suffer the same as you. I have pestered TX to make a less graphicly intense version (no skybox, less textures) but they persist in not. (2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB graphics card)
