How do I make Smoky Viable? - Please Help

 Share

Recommended Posts

Well a M3 smoky crit chance is 18% + means every 5/6th shot is CH

Thunder do not have the reolad speed of Smoky

Freeze is a close range why let them come close , you can finish them before they reach you

Just don't look at the DMG only , look at the reload and calculate how much DMG can it do to same hull

Also with smoky count your shots to 1 guy

you see commonly with DD WASP & Hornet = 2shots

MEdium hulls = 3/4

heavy = 4/5 shots

count your shots always , that is a ruel a Smoker has to follow if you are going for the kills

2nd rule shoot at side's of hulls ,  after getting more accuracy try to hit the turret  , it works . look at Pro's advice

With DD I was able to critical one shot M1 hornets with a M1 smoky , with only 5 MUes

O you are here

I remeber this

#The Annoying SMoky

I remember that... you see... the problem is that all of the Smoky guides are posted many rebalances before... now Smoky is very different and much weaker I dare say at M2 and M3.

They rebalanced Smoky so that M2 and M3 (which used to be OP) are terrible and that M0 and M1 are OP (which used to be unusable)

So basically, it's more like a mid-field/camping specialist? Not for attacking?

Yes for attacking if you are in Twitch Mode.. Assault Ammo is your pal. But you have to be able to drive like a demon.

If you have heavy/medium hull equipped it will be a mid-field/camping specialist

But go with Light you have the attack combo {suicide combo :ph34r: }

But you really need to be good with Driving or else you will be cannon fodder

Legend says he's still upside down.

Oof  :lol:

You had a m1 5/10 combo its halfway to M2 , its not stock i was saying about stock and same modification , should have mentioned it

Oh you got it wrong , yes smoky has been nerfed

But it still is OP in M2 after Twin's

Okay M0 is bad i agree , but m1 is okay and unlocks at early rank and you can get it to 10/10 before Wo5 , {beleive me it can be done , i did it }

and you are all set for till Major rank

Legends have been saying M3 iis not that bad , but dosen't have the glitter like it used to have on M2

But it is okay Have some DD in hand the problem solved

You have no idea.

What a way to insult someone, when they are making a valid point, by calling them names.

You know, you have to 'turn' your turret to play good. Accusing Tanki of not dealing with cheaters (who actually are better players than you, you just presume them to be 'cheaters' to have a way to whine about them) since years.

I would like to inform you that you're the only one spamming useless comments.

I would like to inform you, that I have just a total of 4 topics, while you POST 4 topics a day.

With Smoky it is important to land as many shots as possible while taking as few in return. Flank your enemies, use your impact force (cannot stress this enough) to knock off their aim, and wait for criticals. Against turrets with slow reload you can be more aggressive. Abuse cover (pop-out, pop-in) when facing turrets with continuous fire, and run away if necessary. The best situation a Smoky player can find themselves in is shooting a distracted opponent at mid-range.

I think it's best as a conservative opportunist. Be aggressive when your enemies are distracted, but play it safe when they are alert or you are facing continuous fire turrets.

If you make use of the surroundings and decide whether to charge or not also makes a difference. You can go full ape-monkey-guerrilla tactic on heavier hulls and wear them out while being on the move constantly.

I love Wasp for this. It has so much grip it feels like you're glued to the ground. It makes a ton of difference if you know the map and its obstacles too. You can drive backwards while firing and blindly knowing where you're going.. that's a huge advantage.

Out of all turrets, Smoky is the one that gives me the highest K/D on Wasp (be it 1.7 average or something lol)

So since I saw this topic - I went on my other account to play with M3 smoky - There was barely anyone with a protection against smoky which is surprising and the map was Desert. So, I managed to get 22 kills with 4 deaths. I wonder how strong smoky is when it is fully maxed out because the critical damage takes off so much health + the reload time is so fast for smoky it will kill the opponent in no time. If you are willing to max out smoky - I doubt you will regret it + It's also fun to play with.

Critical will do 1540 damage all the time. (EDIT: no it won't, 770*) Desert is a wonderful open map. It gives lots of opportunities to knock someone off aim or do peak-a-boo behind the concrete walls.

Both alterations will serve you great. I use the higher damage alt as defence, the stock Smoky on the mid-field and the knockback alt for attacking with light hulls. Lots of players use egogun there to camp at base so those are easy targets. Damn Magnums and Freezers are probably the worst enemies.

I like how clean this map is. I always go in Desert to train my aim with Striker. I cannot think of a better map for Striker either. This is where I get the highest K/D's.

I managed to do 1437 (somewhere around that number - I rounded the number up) or usually 770 like you mentioned in your post. Yeah I was basically playing peak-a-boo with the opponents and they would get so angry because they can't do anything about - Except if the freeze or magnum comes near me then adios to me. Because you can't out-run freeze even if you heal - So I sit there, starring at my screen as I lay out a big sigh and carry on playing.

I have tried higher damage alteration and it was really good - Although I prefer smoky with no alteration - Just a fresh smoky playing peak-a-boo against enemy.

The Desert map is definitely the most balanced map on Tanki atm. Perfectly balanced for all turrets and hulls - For example wasp; It has its speed to take the flag from both sides and can easily dodge magnum/striker or even shaft shots.

You can also play peak-a-boo with striker, hide behind the walls and carry on firing the shots at the camping enemy near the flag.

Yes both of these are very true

Just as a point of information, the 'higher damage alteration' actually lowers Smoky's DPS in keep-the-space-bar-pressed sustained firing. It is something like a 7% reduction IIRC. This is for short range DPS not in the weak ranges.

But in battle situation where you are taking deliberate spaced shots or when you have to engage at longer range, then yes this alteration will boost your damage output. Just offered as an FYI.

After a week, I've become increasingly better at it, so I'm not missing first shots at a tank now; however, I'm now inclined to think that Smoky is only limited to maps such as Bridges or Kungur.

Exactly. Ricochet and Thunder are much better (because Smoky needs rebalance and Thunder is OP).

Actually if the is one turret that does well under a variety of maps and conditions it is Smoky.

When I get targeted by a smoky from long distance maps; it does a good damage to me. The turret is really good - actually planning on buying it on sale.
