okay i think it's pretty senseless how some helper positions like wiki editor or reporter have requirements like good karma... what does karma have to do with ability to write stuff? okay it shows whether or not someone is good but... this is the internet after all, most of the nice people are likely fake people pretending to be nice. at least these people are expressing themwelves for who they are.

and there's also the part where they should be a role model to other players... so i propose the idea that people with bad karma and colourful ban histories should be able to become certain types of helpers, but in secret. meaning that they don't get the avatar, helper group in forums, helpers paints, spectrum... and when they win helper of the month/year their names don't get announed. whether or not they get paid crystals or other rewards i don't really care.

Makes sense to some extent, but I don't see this happening. First of all, it complicates the helper system and makes it harder to manage, since every group gets divided into two sub-groups. Second, it could result in discrimination within the groups, with "secret helpers" and normal helpers disrespecting each other based on their status. And finally, having really bad karma shows that the player is incapable of following the game rules, so while they may be great at wiki coding or atricle writing, their karma shows them to be an untrustworthy and unstable individual.

If you have any questions or objections to this, please PM Ostrica or CooperO, since they are the ones responsible for anything to do with karma.

Well, in Russia it is rated 12+, and I'm pretty sure that in order to keep that rating, there needs to be a system in place for moderating the chat to protect children from strong language. You might argue that any 12+ year old already knows all the "bad words", so there's nothing to protect them from, but that's a complaint to those who set the age restrictions on media.

what discrimination? helper groups aren't VIP clubs... every individual just does whatever their admin tells them to and don't poke their nose into what their collegue does. I know the helpers now aren't this professional but this is how they should be. for example you tell this normal editor to update the turrets section of the wiki and tell this secret helper to update the hulls section. they just do their job and not touch anything they're not told to... whoever else does whatever else is not their problem.

let me use myself as an example. I have shown that I am incapable of following the game rules... but if i want to become a helper i could easily change my IP and location and start another account and pretend to be a nice person...

anyways, i have a friend... he used to be a burgalar, after the police finally caught him he went to prison and after he came out the police ocasionally contact him to pick locks... every month they pay him based on what he does for them. he doesn't care about what what benefits other lock pickers who also work for the police get... hell, he doesn't even care about them at all.
