Chatbot in Lobby, answers FAQs

Recommended Posts

I did post this idea before for sure, its even in autosuggestions of browser... maybe mod deleted or something its not showing up anywhere.....?

Chat bot will respond to most FAQ's newbies or curious players have, think of this like a reddit / discord bot thats not where i got the idea from though... i was thinking like something automated to save time....

PROS

  • Will reduce chat SPAM for sure, the same questions won't be reasked as all players may see the response personally if possible.
  • Ensures that players get an answer to their pending questions, when helpers aren't online.
  • Decreased server load

CONS

  • In game helpers may lose their JOBS : ( )
  • May still be spammed with repetitive short questions

There is aleardy an auto ban for flood.

+ this is useless update, chat moderators have an access to "New players" chat channel, so they are helping in there..

You can no longer mention a player with 10 or long characters suppose:

giant05 --> BlackWasp777; Hi

We can do like this but not this from now

giant05 hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh; .

Seems great?

This idea existed since the early days of the game, unfortunately it was found too expensive to be implemented. It was already discussed here.

What we can do and we already asked from devs is to bring back so-called "yellow messages", automated chat messages that posted various information in regular sequences. They looked like this:

We also forwarded an idea from a player, an option for chat moderators to "pin" a message at the top of the chat area so people don't have to ask the same questions all the time.

Developers can put their own spin on this, not only for new players can be for anyone with question server would be updated with live data  and answer their questions based on keywords; this is a very helpful update not useless at all, choose your words carefully.

Chat moderators are not required to answer questions so I don't see any reason to fear helpers losing their jobs.

I dont mean chat moderators I meant in game helpers that are in the chat from time to time, even recently flooded with players questions.... Everyone knows chat mods mostly ban, and that was a joke about losing jobs... maybe the system could replace them if it was fully programmed to respond to players like it could enable players complaints to go straight to support or something....

That idea is on replacing chat moderation with AI, like automated banning this is a chatbot that can be statically programmed to answer most FAQ's based on devs data.... An INEXPENSIVE SOLUTION to helping players queries.

Maybe you should make a video of this article, It will be way easier for players to understand the task of the Chat Moderators & Administrators

Video tutorials and guides are good for battle strategies and massive events like War (and I encourage people to make such guides) but to explain the roles and work of helper groups, a clear and straight-to-the-point text is more than enough. And our Newspaper colleagues provided a lot of informative articles throughout the years, such as the one you linked, anyone who's interested can really get to know the helpers.

Nothing is inexpensive if it takes time and money to be made. Especially when developers have bigger priorities than game's chat.

This is true for companies that have to pay their employees.

But helpers are not employed, they earn no money.

So actually it is far less expensive to run a team of 20 helpers (lead by a helper as well) then to place one programmer once who get's into the chat bot topic and works his way through it until he has a solution. Because the programmer does cost money.

As far as I understood Ostricia's post and the original idea, it was about a complete replacement of the chat mods. This idea here is kind of a support feature.. and it's implementation seems more easy then a complete replacement of chat moderators.

FAQs or even a discussion about certain hot topics followed by a question mark "?" could trigger those prepared yellow messages.. and so they would answer player's questions without a need to truly understand the logic of the question.

If I have to guess, I would say about 50% of the straight forward questions could be handled by that.

I see. Maybe you should move it from Newspaper's archive, I doubt many players will read it while it's there.

After confirming the role of chat moderators edited the OP, Probably not many would know when the chat helpers are online and having to go the forum to PM them if they don't make themselves known in the chat is tiresome, as suggested above are not obligated to answer questions... If this is true as there are alot of unanswered questions this could also be beneficial for the game.

Player asks what is the best weapon or what weapon should i buy... Chatbot can direct him to the FORUM / WIKI - INCREASING TRAFFIC, making him more likely to be active, can make the best choice on what weapon to choose seeing pros / cons of each, rather than him choosing a random weapon that the developers have nerfed without warning causing the game to be less enjoyable, and increasing the chances of him eventually leaving the game, like many have done.

Developers havent really monetized the forum / wiki other than in-game purchases, but by pushing more tanki merchandise into their websites can increase the revenue and keep the game going for longer until its inevitable end due to their unforeseeable and unneeded updates, unless these are reversed / modified.

As said the existing dev team can handle this...? This can be statically programmed initally and can be updated sequentially, (so showing live server data like next event) if you dont see the value in this idea well there is a reason the best days were probably 2012 / 2013 and before...

If all player suggestions are going to stay in "UNDER REVIEW" for months / years like the ones in the backpages until the developers finish their game-wrecking updates, whats the point of suggesting anything if it probably wont be implemented by the limited dev team they have allocating their time to the project? Needs to be a change here for sure... Mods will try to keep this hidden but there is a reason number of players that were online before has declined...

Though as long as buyer community still give the same revenue, all is well...

That's exactly what chat mods (and players themselves) are doing on the chat for years, helping others with their game issues, questions and doubts... The problem is - no one wants to follow the link out of the chat and read long texts on the forum or Tanki Wiki, they want the issue solved right there and then. If players did what you suggest, do you really think they would ask the same questions over and over again, sometimes the second after the moderator has already answered them to someone else?

We've been trying to forward players to other useful Tanki platforms but it simply doesn't work, no one wants to read.

Our Wiki is also a great place for getting to know the helpers and their tasks. :)

We all know normal humans are much better than AI... That too it would take a lot of time, and coding is hard too. The devs already have a huge workload of fixing bugs and implementing things which are more important than this.
