Account "sitters"

Recommended Posts

Hello!

My idea is to add (in options) section sitters.

What are sitters?

Sitters are players that can log into your account with their password. You would be able to allow / forbid what those players will be able to do on your account. For example:

-join battles: a) non - PRO

                   B) PRO

-spend crystals

-change equipment

-buy in shop

and so on.

Noone will be able to change that but the account's owner.

This way, you could let someone else play for you (help you to rank up), buy for you, if your friend want to test Mx turret or hull, you could let him, if you have to go away for a while, sitter will do missions for you...

I took this idea from another game (Travian) and it's working fine.

This directly violates the rule that prohibits transfer of accounts. By using the same account you and your friend are able to both use the same equipment and experience the same game features without having to buy them twice, thus potentially spending two times less money on the game than you would if you had seprarate accounts. The demand for such a feature is very low anyway, so it won't be implemented.

Yeah, I can see a few problems with that.

Supposing you're going out for the evening and your "sitter" knows it. The "sitter" goes on your account and sees the 50 000 crystals you have saved up for a turret or hull. But the "sitter" decides you need a bunch of upgrades on your existing hulls/turrets, more supplies, some module upgrades, etc. Later you go onto your account and all you have left are 10 crystals.

Another problem: You want to do your missions. You try to log onto your account, but you can't because your "sitter" is home playing Tanki on your account.

One more: Since this person has your pass, then that person can do whatever (change nickname, change pass, change email address) and now you don't have an account any more. How do you know if your "sitter" is strong enough to resist the temptation?

1. You can forbid your sitter to spend your crystals.

2. If sitter is active, you can log in, he will be logged out and he wont be able to login while owner is active.

3. Sitter will log into your account with HIS/HER password, not your password. He will not have any rights to change nick/ pass / mail and so on.

Please, next time, before posting comment, read the post.

At first, I don't see why 2 persons are not allowed to play on same account.

Let me tell you how many ways players can exchange accounts:

-tell password via chat (not at once -> qwerty123, but in 1 message you send qwerty and then in another 123).

-tell password via mail, skype, discord...

-tell password in real life.

-also, there is another way in tanki to send password, but I'll leave it to devs or whoever to find out and debug that.

My friend asked me several times (before missions update) to log into his account and do his missions because he is going to trip for several days. He didn't want to lose the 4th week chain.

This way, I could've spend all of his crystals, drugs and so on. If he just added me as a sitter, he could allow /forbid me something, meaning that if you give someone to play on your account, you are safer than before.

Due to the 1st paragraph of reply to your answer, I don't see why not allow this? Anyway, you can't ever catch all players like these. Also, I can "share" my account with my brother and there's nothing you can do to prevent this. Your defense against account transfers are weak.

I'm not the one you should argue with about this. I'm simply reiterating developers' reasoning for this rule, but I don't exactly support it. I (sort of) understand why it exists, but if you ask me - I have no clue why account sharing is treated like the worst possible form of violation and grants the player a permanent block, if discovered.

It makes sense why they don't want people sharing accounts...it would cut into money for them.

However, consider you have a family, hypothetically. If parents get caught buying something for their kids...this would lead to ban...that is ridiculous obviously

What about a different example. You buy a "1 year pass" for a theme park, where you have unlimited admissions to that park, but such passes always state that the ticket is for you only and can't be used by anyone else. If only you used it, then you might visit that park 2 or 3 times a year. But if you start sharing it with your friends and family (against the tems and conditions of the pass), they would also go to the park for free using your pass, and wouldn't have to buy individual tickets. And thus the park loses a lot of porential revenue.

A similar thing can be said about tanki accounts.

I do agree with this. This problem would be saved if TO would give a system for trading of resources or using the shop, but we have talked about this before, I won't make Maf answer AGAIN.

In regards to your illustration which I think is a good one, I bought a season pass to a park last year...$60, expecting to go several times...I went once. noob

I know you are here only to comment ideas, you are not the one who made the rules, but can you explain (at least what you know) why does it exist?

This rules exist to  prevent players from  easily getting  a hold of  someone else's account, they could make your account banned forever or waste crystal/supplies  etc.

Again tanki thinks about money. Maybe i will let someone sitt me for 15 mins only so he could buy me something.

^

You can have option to allow/forbid someone to chat. As for other crimes like sabotage the sitter would be banned. He logged in with his password so system would know.

This already exists in other game... It's just declined because tanki wont get money.

Yes, I DID read your post. Admittedly, I missed the part of the "sitter" using their own pass.

This could be considered power leveling, which is also against the rules. Since the only way a tank can level up is by being used, then between the two of you it's conceivable the tank could be in use 24/7 and collecting crystals. I have played a lot of games but never ran into one that, knowingly, allowed 2 players to use the same account.

Power leveling is when you invite 10 friends to PRO battle and they allow to kill you. Or when you have 2 accounts in same battle and using firebird you level up both accounts at the same time.

You can "solve" this problem (though i don't see where the problem is) by only allowing sitters to play in non PRO battles. Just as I said, you won't be able to do as sitter anything more than if you give someone your password. Actually, you can NOT do some things.

Note that sitter has to have account. Developers can put rank needed to be sitter, like . Or rank limit. Example -> if you are , you can sit only those who are between and .

All this means is that the owner doesn't have to play as often to get some high rewards. Which is another reason to scrap the idea.

Tell me please, what's the difference between me giving you my password and letting you play on my account, also, you can ruin my account, or just play on it, not for a lot of time, or sitting?

If you think this will be PL (Power Leveling, though it's not), then let sitter play maximum X hours on your account. (X <= 3)

what if you forget to forbid someone to chat..and rules and regulations are not related with money.

Let's make it that everything is forbidden at first.

Or make it that all crimes and punishments go to the sitter

I don't doubt that there are other players who share their account with a sibling or friend. Bottom line: You don't go to jail for breaking the law, you go to jail for getting caught. Same idea here.

It's possible to get in 5 battles in an hour. Ten minutes for each battle plus approximately 2 minutes waiting time for MM. That's 12 minutes. 60/12 = 5. Let's say you play for 3 hours. That's 15 battles and you're "sitter" plays for 3 hours while you do your homework, hang with friends, etc. That's another 15 battles for a total of 30 battles, of which you only played 15. While you are doing homework, hanging with friends, working or whatever, you're "sitter" is collecting exp and crystals for you. Exp and crystals you wouldn't have otherwise gotten. Ranking up depends on how often you play, for how long and where you place in the score sheet. Conceivably, you could gather exp and crystals twice as fast with a "sitter."

Supposing you and your family go out for the evening. You wouldn't be playing Tanki. But now you have a "sitter" to do that for you. That "sitter" would gain you exp and crystals you ordinarily wouldn't have gotten.

You don't consider the above two scenarios as Power Leveling?

Make it rank limit for sitters. Let it be Marshall. I think you wouldn't make an acc to Marshall and just leave it. Make it that sitter can play on your account for only 1hr per day. Make it that sitter needs to get at least 50% of experience gained on account he is sitting.

"I will sit on your account for 1 hour, just give me $10"

^ Gonna see a lot of this in chat channels.

And as for you arguing that Tanki thinks only money, its a business. Deal with it, or leave.
