Firebird's afterburn damage inconsistency with double damage

As the title says I've noticed that firebird's afterburn damage decreases by half when attacking an enemy with double armor, EVEN if you have double damage too. For example, if you attack an enemy and none of you have supplies on,  you will deal normal afterburn damage. But, if you have double damage and you attack an enemy with double armor, afterburn damage decreases, instead of staying the same.

 

Also, If the enemy doesn't have double armor but you have double damage, afterburn damage doesn't increase, this seems weird

I am a firebird user, but I can see that if afterburn increased with DP, the m2 alt would be game-breaking. Logically, the DP does not affect fires started by the napalm set on the enemy tanks.

 

I do think that if the devs refuse to nerf freeze, this could be a reasonable counter to bring firebird back up to freeze's level.

The M2 'afterburn alt' known as Compact Tanks should be renamed to Poison Snakes because when it hits an enemy and enemy does not use repair kit, DA or get healed, it slowly dies like if it was poisoned by deadly snakes xD

As far as I know, the afterburn damage only depends on the tank's current temperature, not the presense of DP on the firebird. However, I think the DP does increase the maximum temperature the tank can reach, thus dealing more afterburn damage, although I might be wrong here.

It would make firebird be in level with freeze if devs refuse to nerf it. Freeze can shoot like 2 seconds longer, although it has slow reload it doesn't really matter because you will already be dead. Soo, making this change would put firebird in level with freeze and isida!

From my point of view it doesn't make sense to refuse to nerf Freeze, as it is wrong from multiple points: the relation between dealing damage and freezing effect was already bad, now it is much worse; Freeze is unbalanced compared to other close range turrets (isida and esp. Fire) and when comparing guns, it is unbalanced vs nearly all other guns.

Doubling afterburn damage might help, but I don't think that this will be sufficient vs Freeze. Anyway I think we should conduct some tests if and how drugs affect afterburn damage or temperature effects.

double damage firebird loses damage when fighting against a double armor enemy because afterburn damage decreaes by half. This should be fixed so it is not so underpowered when compared to freeze and isida abilities on supplies (freeze huge DPS and isida huge healing)!

It doesnt increase the max possible temperature, but it does make the tank heat up faster.

Freeze and Isida have the same DPS but Freeze is stronger because it makes the enemy unable to escape, hide or circle-strafe (while Freeze can circle-strafe to avoid getting shot by freezed enemy).

 

Isida gets low score for healing in MM battles so some Isidas even refuse to heal. The others probably switched to Freeze.

 

Firebird needs quite a long time to fully heat up the enemy. DD helps it a lot by heating twice as fast.

What I really don't get about afterburn is that it does more damage and burns you quicker when you are slightly out of range of the firebird.

Firebirds with Compact Tanks alteration try to heat up as many enemies as possible so they attack each of them only for a second or less to spare energy. The afterburn does its job perfectly.

 

Firebirds without alteration attack the enemy until it gets destroyed (just like Freeze) and they often lose all energy and get killed easily by the second enemy. Kills with afterburn are lucky.
