Vulcan is not used on heavier hulls primarily because of the overheat. That’s just a minor reason. The actual reason is that because it is a continuous-fire turret, it needs to expose itself to enemy fire for a lot longer than other turrets do, and light hills can’t afford to do that. The update made Vulcan only worse to use on lights and meds because of the terrible rotation speed.

i agreed,

at the current situation in the Game,

It is better to have 1 turret and 1 hull at their maximum level [except vulcan[which is no use ofcourse]] and invest more in protection modules

rather than having many hull and turrets and equipped with 1 or 2 modules.

having 1 combo hull and turrets, we can manage to play in the battle  just switching protection modules [if u have most of them ofcourse]

Now having multiple hull and turrets and no protection modules,, that tanker will get hit everywhere, even it's and m4 combo hull & turret.

You are better off with a pair of M3.5 combos + multiple modules than you with 1 combo + modules.  The difference from 3.5 to 4.0 is not great at all but costs similar to buying a second combo on sale.  More flexibility.

And yet they said in their announcement the change was made to help medium and light hulls

I asked Nives directly about that. Not surprisingly.... no response.

It's obvious they did this "buff" (I cringe+laugh every time I type that) in an attempt to sell more Alterations.  I'm guessing Vulcan alterations were not flying off the shelf.

I think if that was their goal, they would have given it a new alteration. (A re_old_vulcan, like High-Caliber Ammo for rail). I think they really did try to buff it. (And they did, a bit.)

I guess we have different opinions on what a "buff" is.

They may have made it slightly more useful on larger, open maps where Vulcan ca fire continuously for a long period. But really, how many maps are like that and how many enemies are willing to stay in the sights that long?

On the other hand, the huge % increase in spin-up time has made Vulcan terrible on smaller maps where enemies are much closer, and even large maps that have lots of cover. Spawning with enemy near means instant death.

And since match-maker gives you a random map, many with lots of cover, I consider the huge loss in flexibility a nerf, not a buff.

EDIT:  I have a feeling we won't be seeing any new alterations for any turrets.

Many play CTF and RGB like TDM, and that's frustrating. I think killing should give less point in those modes but when the team captures a flag or scores I think everyone should get bonus points based on how many points they already have, this to prevent multing. And the actual tank that captures or scores should get 50 points, or even less, plus the bonus.

And remove pick up supply missions, instead there could be 'destroy tanks in a mode' missions.

Tbh, I don't if you're serious, or if you made a typo there.

I thought so at first as well. But...

The main advantage is health vs enemies who will target the Vulcan - since it needs to stay exposed for a long period of time to do it's damage.

I mean that isn't the main reason it is used on heavy hulls. It's still a reason though. I use it because I have to expose myself to enemy fire longer (since Vulcan is a continuous-fire turret) and heavy hulls are better for this.

Oh, now that's more clarifying.
