Is Average Wait Time just RNG?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Basically, I think average wait time is just calculated by an RNG (random number generator), nothing more.

A while ago, average wait times were all around a minute twenty, which was pretty accurate. Now, after the update (which didn't change anything about MMS), they are all in the range of 20-25 seconds, which is very off considering many battles would require you to wait around 2 minutes to find.

I think the devs lowered the wait time RNG simply because it would make the game look better and seem as if there were many people playing it and battling. I don't sense any difference in wait time to be honest. Sometimes matches let you in instantly, while others take over 2 minutes. It's been like that the whole time.

Plus, the average wait time for all of the game modes are almost always approximately the same (20-25 seconds). I know for a fact that there are waaaayyyy less players playing Assault, Rugby, TDM, and Juggernaut than CTF, DM, and CP. Throughout the day, no matter whether how many players are online, the wait-times are still almost always in the same range.

Yeah it says nothing now, I atleast get twice the estimated waiting time.

Matchmaking is relatively slow in searching battles. From my point of view it seems it's lazy aswell because I often get thrown into the same blowout match I just left, sometimes 3 times in a row!

They updated the estimated waiting time but it still takes around 2 minutes; indeed no way the rigged Assault mode has a 20 second average waiting time lol.

I am still viewing Youtube at a low volume and get back to the battle when I hear sounds from T.O.

It's a pity we can't go out the waiting screen and use the lobby chat or garage; I hate to wait and stare at that timer.

Battles are most likely to be created every x seconds. X would varie from the number of players online so it is no fix. So every x seconds a certain amount of CTF battles are created with people stacked in a queue. The queue stay open till x-5s and then players are sorted out and ctf battles are generated.

The wait is not for the creation of the battle but for stacking enough players and to space train of battles every x time. The more players on line the shorter the wait.

That's how I would do it.

In Soviet Russia, the timer stares at you xD

i always press quick battle and i always get in instantly -_-

Yes, same, I do that too after missions are complete. The average wait time is still around 25 seconds for quick battle, even though it should be around 3 seconds for quick battle.

I've had the same issue with being thrown back into a battle I just left. So, if I log out of a battle, I'll go to another category to prevent that. After that battle is finished (or I log out because it's already a washout) I'll go to the category I want to play.

I think it depends on how lucky you get with the timing. If you start queuing and at the same time a current battle finishes, then a lot of people will press "continue" and within seconds MM will send you to a new game it made for all those people. But if you queue just after a new game has started and no current battle is about to finish, you will have to wait longer.

I personally just click play, go to another window/tab and check Tanki in a minute. If I've been waiting for over a minute, I cancel and queue again. Usually works quite well, but I agree that on average the waiting time tends to be longer than the "average time" shown.

been finding battle wait time is longer now with the changes and not faster. for me it takes about 56 seconds or more. the other day i tried over 10 times to get into a battle . I ended up leaving and returning back into tanki then finally got in after three try's . I find it depends on the amount of players on line and the amount of battles created . for battles to play in some are anywhere from 5 minutes to 9:50 tops . some even less then 5 . not many but still not happy with MM System.

Yeah same here, the other formats have different maps almost all the time. The more players the higher the variety I guess.

Actually its possible to use chat

I can't, how did you do it?

Its just like when a friend tells you I will be there after 2 min, but he comes after 15 min.

It's more like if you and a guy are on a date at a restaurant, the guy excuses himself for 3 minutes to use the bathroom, and then the guy leaves the restaurant.
