Matchmaking, Turret Balance changes

Buff, buff, buff. Lots of turrets performing significantly better than they did last year. Guess what’s not any better.

Hulls.

Throw modules in too. I’ll explain....

Hulls have received no buffs, so they die faster now that most turrets deal more damage. Thus choice of hull becomes less important. You’re gonna die anyway.

Three Module slots can’t protect you against the Freeze, Fire, Isida, Thunder, Rail, Smoky Magnum, Ricochet on just about every team. Whichever modules you equip, the other turrets will come for you. You’re gonna die anyway.

Now exploding tanks drives up battle score which rewards players with more crystal payout. That part is good.

But the expenditure of millions of crystals to obtain breadth in your garage, especially diverse hulls and modules seems to be a fool’s errand.

Matchmaking still sucks monkey balls and is the worst thing Tanki has ever done.

i really like those changes;

Screenshot_196.jpg

maybe if Developers can put all type of battles stacked together,
for example,
on the top we can see, all different formats of Pro Battles
then on the middle part, all XP/BP battles
then on the end of the battle list all parkour Battles

then it will be kind of nice and clean.
and will be much more easier to see the type of battles that a user is searching for.

Thank you. :)

Well, none of this is true. AT ALL. Wait times have become so insane, they have driven me over to the forums to complain about matchmaking. I can rarely get into a game, solo, in under two minutes, and half the time it puts me in a game that is over.

Matchmaking sucked at the start, improved to less bad for a while, and is back to SUKKING big time.

The biggest mistake Tanki has made in the last six months, including screwing up Firebird and Vulcan, is the buff on Striker.

Dolts!

Striker was one of the strongest turrets, but it required exceptional skills. Highly skilled strikers always had good days. Now, Striker is just too easy to use and too overpowered. Even with 40% protection and double armor, it can take out my medium hull if all four rockets hit, and with the new lock on and super speed, they always seem to hit.

I often wonder if Tanki's intent isn't to frustrate and infuriate their most experienced players.

Shaft can one shot a medium with a full scope shot and in an instant too. At least strikers lock on takes a while still. Plus it can't hit instantly like shaft can.

Lock-on improvement is ~ 7%.  That's not much at all.

On average I see < 1 striker per battle, so the upgrades are not even close to what Freeze, Thunder and Firebird received.

Also seeing way more smokys lately (there were 4 of them on one team of 8 last night)

My point is the Striker was already OP. Shaft is what it is and always has been. The laser fixed most of the problem with it. Striker still isn't a problem in most battles because nobody has figured out how powerful it is. They will. Maybe it will be put back before it gets disruptive.

If 40%+ protection, Firebird isn't a problem as long as you are able and willing to use repair kit. Freeze, of course, is still the strongest turret in the game regardless of protection module. (40%+ against Freeze just increases frustration; who it frustrates depends on attitude.)

Yes, Freeze is worst, but Striker was less problem. Now it is big problem if it is there.

Pretty much any turret won't be a problem if you use a 40% protection module and repair kit.

You improved on the individual matchmaking timings but the groups are real bad now.. Takes a minute past the avg time and places us in a battle where 2 minutes are left. Excellent.

Have they?

Got placed into MM battle with < 3 min left.  Tried hard but could not crack 100 score in that time.  ZERO stars.

Then MM placed me in a battle that ended as I spawned.  ZERO stars.

Probably took ~ 5 min for the above.

Seems to be working great!

Matchmaking still sucks in every single way.

It was supposed to fix imbalance?  NO -- more ridiculously lopsided battles than ever.

Speed into the game?  NO -- the waits are actually getting longer, and not infrequently 3+ minutes, and yesterday one was over 15 minutes when I came back to it.

Still puts me in at the end of games.  Still puts me in games I don't want to be in.

There are fewer maps than ever.   People still bail on the horribly imbalanced matches -- including me, which I never used to do.  about one third of the time, when I FINALLY get into a game, I'm like "what the hell is this?"  Either its over, it doesn't suit my needs, or its laughably imbalanced.

I hate matchmaking.   Sad thing is everyone still hates matchmaking, but you really don't care.

But i'm never spending another dime on this game.

I just play half an hour after server restart and get put into a battle almost instantly after joining a specific mode.

So maybe it isn't perfect, but it's improving.

It's been around for 2 years and nobody has figured it out in that time?

Maybe, just maybe there's something just not right with the turret?

I mean, this is a community that analyzes strengths / weaknesses and very few have decided to make use of this "OP" turret?

Seems a bit odd to me.

Striker is hard. That was its beauty. It is stronger than Shaft. Those few who figure out how to master it were doing quite well. Now it is so easy any noob can be effective with it.

If that's the case, good thing my wet diaper account is getting close to the appropriate rank for the m1 striker then

True. Striker is still strong, considering the shots fire faster than thunder and smoky and as it also does 1300 damage for M1 striker, firing at M1 hulls.

I honestly wish we could use the laser on striker more often because the shots are so satisfying rather then firing shot by shot.

I'm not sure what you mean.

Striker at no point has better reload than smoky.

Striker also does less damage per missile than Thunder.

Sure the salvo does a lot more - but - has reload + aiming time with laser. Does not get put to use much.

No wonder smoky players in mid-ranks are doing so well after the update.

To buy a smoky m2 module you have to be Colonel.  :o  That's nuts!

That's the highest level module for m2.  5 more ranks and you can buy m3 module.

Why is smoky m2 module rank-condition so high????

Smoky was always so OP at M2. I used that turret all the time after getting huntsman kit back in 2015 or so (maybe earlier, I can't remember). Then I got it M3 and there was very little difference. In the mid-ranks smoky was the best which is why it was the last M2 turret to unlock.

Oh right! I've got the statistics mixed up, my bad. I somehow prefer to use striker over thunder anyway even though I do not own it on this account.

scrap drones . they might work in tankiX but not here . been in too many over powered drone battles to get very low scores . there not worth it to keep in games . mostly in DM .
