Seconday Currency (Rubies) to balance turrets-vs-modules as a one-time possibility

Recommended Posts

I guess the idea will be declined before the mods even get to the post, but here goes.

My idea is simple. Tanki should add a special currency into Tanki called Rubies. For conversions, 1 Ruby is 1 crystal, but the difference is that Rubies can only be spent on protection modules. Therefore, Tanki calculates the total protection module worth in my garage, and gives me the amount in rubies. If Tanki does so for everyone, less people will complain that Magnum is so overpowered and Thunder is so underpowered and it would be the fairest way to resolve the "this turret is more OP than that one" case, without constantly having to buff or nerf turrets.

As most players will know, Thunder and Twins had lots of protection in the old days, and that means that lots of players now have their protection. If players are given a chance to chose their protections again, I'd bet that the game would be balanced.

Edit: The developers add in the rubies currency, and when it gets added in, the total protection module worth of your account (including MU's and SU's) gets added together into crystals. Then, this crystal number is added to your rubies balance. Once this happens, you can buy protection modules or micro upgrades or speed ups for your protection modules. This would be exactly like buying something with crystals, as in no refunds and no changing your mind after.

Valid

Please elaborate that a bit more, regarding the swapping:

How often would the players be allowed to change into rubies / how long would they have to wait in between?

If I could swap my protection into rubies and purchase what I need for the current map, then do this again with different protections for another map.. I would not need to spend as much on protection as I would today.

I propose you work out this issue or exaplain how it was ment.. as this is very crucial

Oh NO, this is a one time thing. Good idea, but all my modules are either M3 or M2 10/10 (I bought lots of M3 kits) and I'd rather not lose them, since I cannot purchase M3 modules at my current rank and one of my modules is highly upgraded.

That is GENIUS. Special currency for these Pay To Win modules!

Players should get battle rewards in both crystals and rubies and spend the rubies on modules. No player would have weak modules anymore.

So how do you propose tanki resolves the following scenarios:

  1. Player spends 2 years upgrading their modules at 50% sales, doing one step at a time for every module. The update happens and this player has to do the upgrades all over again?
  2. Player has 3 fully upgraded modules, which he bought and upgraded during 50% sales. He gets full refund for the modules and is suddenly able to afford double the amount of modules? (i.e. Tanki loses profit).

In regards to one, I get that it would be quite annoying, but it would mean that Tanki can finally have a balance. Not one created by developers, but one chosen by players themselves.

In regards to the second one, I assume that the extra money tanki earns from case 1 would nulify case 2, but I'm not an expert at business, so I'm not sure.

All I mean to suggest is that this idea can rid tankers of the eternal complaint that "Tanki doesn't balance turrets, they buff and nerf them"

The backlash from people having all their module progress reset would be far greater than the amount of people currently complaining about skewed balance due to modules. More importantly, modules will gradually balance themselves again in the next few months/years as people will buy and use other modules which they actually need, rather than equip thunder and rail protection because that's all they have.

Exactly. The whole TO community would be up in arms. The scene would not be pretty.

More than complaints, uzing turrets like Thunder and Railgun is quite close to pointless due to how many peoplenuse protections. I get that people might switch later on, but by then far fewer people will use turrets such as Thunder.

This won't fix that you know. People will still choose one protection over the other simply because they do not like that turret. regardless of whether it's balanced or not. Protection modules will still remain the broken rock-paper-scissors system they are.

The only way to actually fix this is to nerf m4 protections to 25-30% or below.

The idea is good.

But in battles if peoples get as reward rubies & crystals as well if they convert rubies to crystals isn't it will destroy the game balance?

This is the only chance to get rubies. Rubies cannot be bought or earned. They can only be gained this one-time to ensure that players don't take the funds from them and invest those funds of turrets and hulls instead.

Well that's how it generally works. All my point is, is that by now we've had two different updates concerning protection modules. It just makes sense to wipe all that out and give tankers a chance to chose their protections again. Nerfing M4 protections to 25-30% won't be that helpful either because tankers will complain a lot then as well.

If they are broken, and they still will be broken, then doesn't it make sense for Tanki to just try to fix things anyways? If balance will never be present, then what's the harm?

Yes I agree Tanki should try to fix things. But like I said, your idea will NOT fix the problem. Nerfing protection modules (and i mean like a MAJOR nerf) is how you solve this issue.

Nerfing M4 protections to 25-30% won't be that helpful either because tankers will complain a lot then as well.

Let them complain. They will soon realize that there was nothing to complain about anyways. Everyone will get the same 25-30%, so everyone is still on the same boat, no one loses out. Balance will not be affected negatively AT ALL because like i said, everyone is still on the same boat. LET. THEM. COMPLAIN.

The only thing that will change is that protection modules can no longer make or break a weapon. 50% is crippling and renders a turret utterly useless. 25-30% is still plenty enough to make a noticeable difference (and thus keeping the "auto-balance" feature of modules) but it won't make a turret totally useless. I don't know about you, but I think this can only be a good thing.

I think nerfing protections to 25-30% is PLENTY helpful.

But what about those people who have stock protections?

nonsense, the module update could have been better compensated for high ranking m4 players instead of batteries cap,

idea and suggestion section made up of players who dont even play or understand the game

Rail Thunder protection are so common is they are the most effective long range weapons as of now and suit most mid/long range maps, i rather get killed by eg. a freeze isida in close combat without protection, than get 1-2 shot nowhere by rail/thunder, shaft/mag are a different story....

twins is by far still and always a very effective turret as well vs no protections, unlimited ammo decent range/impact, easy use, rico/hammer are still below it, needs reload and selective usage, higher skill level?

50% is there for a reason, and it can be like a DA supply, u need more turrets to combat protections...

at the end u need full m4 garage anyways

That is not justification of the 50%. That just means those turrets are OP and need nerfs, or simply because you don't like them.

Players not liking a certain turret does not justify allowing them to turn it into trash and make hell for its players.

But what about those people who have stock protections?

What does this mean?

Your argument about so many players having rail or thunder protections is long out of date.

The whole protection system has changed so much those older facts are moot.

With the current flexible system, the only reason players equip Rail or Thunder protection is because they are annoying.

Refund module-spent crystals, and guess what modules they will buy again... Rail & Thunder.  :D

And if they players are forced to MU all over again, many will just quit. It takes a long time to MU modules.

Oh no, I was just responding to Maf. Railgun and Thunder are annoying, yes, but the thing is that many players don't bother understanding protection modules and therefore, if they buy a kit they have protection or they could be just heavily oriented towards just getting equipment rather than protection modules.

That is exactly my case. I have only M1 Thunder module on my WO1 alt gorgoblesk99 and the module is from Predator kit xD

Modules are just too expensive for non-buyers...
