Welcome back tankers! Here are the winners of the contest Give a speech!

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The Winners:

1st: @Dyslexia | 50k crystals

2nd: @Person_Random | 40k crystals

3rd: @darthvadermaximum | 30k crystals

3rd: @thethiefofvictory30k crystals

Coming in first was @Dyslexia winning the prize of 50,000 crystals. His speech was by far the most unique, and certainly one which could get tankers to fight to the death.

Dreams

The wind hisses, laughing at our effort to haul our rust-ridden tanks forward, not even given time to search for solace as we're heartlessly murdered, again and again. It tickles, it chills, it sneers. I see that some of us are questioning, if our cause is really worth all this. Enemies swarm us, and even though we somehow find the energy to respawn, to resurrect, I know that our will to continue is fading. I am here to tell you, not even I am bereft of these feelings. I also want to leave this world of chaos, to tell you guys my final, last words of goodbye. Because I, I don't want to relive my failures, my disappointments, my anxiety, my sadness, my frustration, and my pain as I'm beaten down again and again.

They don’t understand what we have to go through, how we have to cross rivers miles wide, how we had to climb self-aware mountains that try to knock us down at every ledge. They don’t understand, that when they have a luxury, first-class airplane, we have to suffer, we have to brave the waters, the weather, and the terrain, as miniscule, tiny insects. We're just pests to those not on our side, and when we killed ourselves off on purpose, they thought, “Good riddance.”

But, there's also one other thing they don't understand.

We have a dream.

And not just one. We have the hopes and dreams of our people, behind us, pushing us through all this, to assist us, to guide us, to show us the way, the path to victory. Because history is written by the winners, and we were meant to make history. We were meant to write history.

I’m not writing this last, cheesy conclusion, on purpose. I'm not some apathetic motivational speaker to speak a few empty words to try and get you to sacrifice yourselves one more time. I am here with you. I know what you, what we, are going through. Trust me, there will always be light at the end of the tunnel. And although I cannot say for certain when we will finally reach that light, and I also cannot guarantee that our path won't be filled with pain and suffering, I can guarantee that we are on the right path, and that we are on the path to victory.

Coming in second was @Person_Random, winning a total of 40,000 crystals with his focus on his own team not relenting any effort and trying their hardest

No Matter The Result

I know we want to win. But it comes second to your efforts. We started out with a decent lead, working together as a machine. Everyone cooperated, and we secured an early game road to victory.

However, as every tale goes, the others come back. Better. Faster. What started out as our thirty-seven flag lead turned into hundreds of flags in deficit. With each flag, our confidence fell, bit by bit, till it was no more.

But don’t lose heart.

My parents tell me, “Losers find excuses, winners find the reasons,”. And it is true. We cannot keep blaming one another, telling teammates what they did wrong. Because we all are imperfect. Instead, let’s join together, regain the assurance that we will work harder than ever.

I’ve blamed you, and you’ve all blamed me. Let’s brush that aside and fight for redemption. But I cannot grant a sure victory.

No matter the result, it’s not all about winning. It’s about trying your best.

Coming in third were two people @thethiefofvictory and @darthvadermaximum, with two equally good speeches. Both speeches have a compelling way of asking their teams to keep going.

 @thethiefofvictory's speech

My dear friends! I know you are losing hope. The enemy is crushing us, and eight hours of continuous play are not easy for the mind. But O my friends, remember when we were dominating by 50 flags! Remember when the enemy could not dare leave their base! They may have gained strength, but that does not mean we cannot win. Look around you! The enemy still fears us. They still hesitate to fight us. Do not lose hope, my friends, for we will win.

A new player has joined us only ten minutes ago, and already he has shown how good he is at this game. Already he has captured four flags, daringly sprinting into their base, picking up the coveted piece of cloth, and running back to us, surviving impossible odds! Does he not inspire you? Does he not inspire you to fight with courage? Does his play not fill you with hope and pride?

Look at your crystal bar, and remember how long we have been fighting this. Hundreds of thousands of crystals are at stake. The prize is big, the contest fierce. We can win this. You know just as well as I do that we can win this. If only we fight harder and remain hopeful, those crystals will be ours. If we win this, we will write history with our blood, sweat and shrapnel. The books of history, the pages of the Tanki Records will say that we fought with courage and did not lose hope. That we had a dream of victory. That we fulfilled it.

We will win.

Do not lose hope, my friends, for those who do are destined to fail!

Do not let the decaying battlefield, the deteriorated, once magnificent color of your tank deter you! Let them inspire you instead. Let them be a sign of our courage, the courage that our enemies lack!

The time has come. The time has come for us to win. Do not lose hope at this critical time. Fight, fight for our victory! Long live our team!

@darthvadermaximum's speech

Dear friends i asked you all to pause and to listen to my words for one reason and one reason alone i believe the overall performance that we as a team are showing is way less than our true capabilities and strengths. I know that the tide of this battle is no longer in our favor and i know you all are battered, bruised, tired and exhausted. But i want to tell you something i have realized after all these battles we have been together in .... Each one of you has a heart and soul of gold, refined through each and every difficulty and obstacle we faced. And hence you keep shining more and more helping each other out whenever any of you is in a pickle. So bright that enemies keep coming trying to smear dirt on us, they keep coming to make us falter but to this day we have stood firm and i ask that you do the same now as well and not let them pull us down

You all are very brave and strong and have stuck with me till now, it pains me to see you all disheartened so i ask you to stand up with me once more. Rev up your engines and get you turrets ready for some action because i assure you we are about to turn this battlefield upside down. For that i need your help, each one of you is crucial for us to succeed and i ask that each of you do your best and stick to the plan improvising as we move on.

The enemy might have completely surrounded us, cutoff all our routes and locked on to us but as long as we stand strong and help each other out the traps the enemies have laid down will all be in vain. If i still wasn't able to convince you to take up your arms and win, i suggest you wipe the dust of your screens and press that tab button. "Do not Fear Godmode_ON is here". Reinforcement has arrived boys time to put your best tank forward, charge ahead and win this thing once again like always.

Consolation Prizes:

A few things worth noting:

  • The entries chosen were chosen all copied and pasted into a document and the ones I found to be best were chosen and therefore so were the authors.
  • There won't be any reconsideration of winners or consolation prize winners.
  • There was a criterion to judging the entries. Many had the same theme of a new player joining the team and that they must go on and therefore, they weren't unique enough to be chosen as winning entries

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you all for participating!

only consolation? hmmm

If yiu are interested in knowing why, I found that your speech was of good quality however it was a bit violent. I realize that speedhes in the army can be like that, however Tanki is largely played by people of around 12 to 18 years of age.

Gratz to the winners!

I never win these things, so if you see me enter a contest, make sure you enter, too, because you know my entries never get picked.

Lol me in my writing class, I've never won to this day.

I took the entries down without looking at the author, jumbled them up and then chose. I hope that convinces you that I didn't chose based on who wrote it.

For real though. How come you didn't view my speech worthy enough?

For real though. How come you didn't view my speech worthy enough?

Your speech, I'm afraid, started of a bit strangely as opposed to many speeches. I mean to say that the inclusion of the very first sentence you added seemed quite bizarre to me. Besides that, I felt that it in general it didn't have the vivid imagery which would make a winning speech in comparison to the rest of the entries. Your speech most definitely was not bad, however I felt that those things let it down.

I want my review, too.

Yours was akin to a cosine function. It started out good and well, but soon diminished in motivational quality, only to reach its minimum and eventually become alright again. In less metaphorical language, there were a few errors in your grammar. Not to mention, your speech also felt kind of like you were saying "use your supplies endlessly and we win ok?". Lastly, the gore really took away from your speech. Gore generally isn't particularly helpful in motivational speeches.

Sorry if that felt a bit blunt. I didn't and don't mean to be rude.

I was trying to send the message of "Go for everything you got, even if that means sacrifice something you value so preciously. Because at the end the reward is worth it.

As for the "gore" you call. Maybe at that timeline tanks are being remotely controlled by the humans from far away, who knows ;)

I'll admit my framing kinda fell off at the middle though, and will double check my grammar next time. Thanks for answering me!

I thought this was supposed to be rally speech, not an English novel-writing lesson. But hey, what do I know? I guess an American type of sport rally isn't your cup of tea. Fair enough. But are these really the kind of speeches given to a team from a leader after he and your fellow teammates have been sitting for 8 hours straight in the chair playing an intense battle with barely any break? I'd like to see one speech made off-the-cuff after those exact conditions you set.

I get that, but since many tankers are teenagers, gore is unlikely to motivate them particularly well. Argueably, some teenagers play CS:GO or other games with such weapons, but even still this number isn't big enough to mean that it would work great.

No worries; I'm here to help as much as possible! Please ask any questions you might have and I will try to give you my best answer.

I get that the contest is a bit unrealistic, but I wasn't trying for realism. My bad, I'll make sure that I clarify that in the future.

They aren't the kind of speeches, you're right, which might be given eight hours after an intense battle, but that was the goal when creating the contest.

I want a review of all the entries, if impossible then at least mine

The first section of your speech was alright (not as good as the latter part of your speech however). It basically embodied that your team has been fighting for a while and struggles to go on any further part of things particularly wells and effectively set up the context to the following part of your speech, as opposed to other speeches. Your descriptions also weren't limited to the somewhat over dramatized "we have to win or thousands of crystals down the drain". As is with your stories, your vivid imagery really made your speech a great one, not to mention that you stated "don't lose hope; we gotta keep fighting" in a very unique way which didn't sound artificial (I get that this contest is artificial, however realism was one of the few qualities I sought out in a speech, other than that the criterion was imagery, uniqueness and goosebumps, which I get is kind of strange but that's how you, Dyslexia and Person_Random managed to come in the top 3).

I'd analyze all the speeches, however that'd take a long while, so if there's anything specific you'd like to ask about or if the author of a speech would like to ask why they got the place they did (if they got a place), then I'm more than happy to help!
