Hell no, rail is fine as is. It doesn't need a damage buff. A vertical aiming buff or a buff in rotation speed is ok. But do not buff in damage.

 

If it got a buff in damage, especially the min damage, light hulls without any protections wouldn't stand a chance against a railgun on DD, since they'd be dead in one shot.

 

The damage is fine as it is now became light hulls can at least have that lucky chance of survival.

you mean like it should? And was for 6 freaking years? Rail is a SNIPER it's supposed to 1 shot lights

1. A sniper is a turret that is able to inflict unparallel damage to enemies while hiding in the corner without taking damage. If Railgun was a sniper, then Railgun deserves to be nerfed hard so that it wouldn't be too OP as a camping turret, which doesn't even need to be able to beat any turret in a 1 v 1.

 

2. However, Railgun isn't a sniper anymore. Devs have made it fairly obvious that a Railgun is now a mid-range turret with the recent updates. With the addition of Magnum, your 2 snipers are Magnum and Shaft, which both have been made so that even they are viable at short range. Therefore, TO is definitely making a push to end camping without removing turrets or making them UP.

 

3. Who gives a damn about the campers in the game? The game would be better off losing every single camper player, even considering the small playerbase it has right now.

I like being a sniper, I like being able to one-shot flag carriers; being the game changer.

 

It's true that the game is leaning more towards short range fights but that kills the gameplay. Tankers pool up in the center and spray their ammo on whoever comes in their range. I hate playing with and against short range turrets. There's nothing but pressing the spacebar and whoever does it first wins the fight. An exception would be Isida with the healing alteration.

 

To me, Shaft have much more exciting gameplay. I am against using Railgun and despise those who use it but that's my problem I guess. It's pretty dangerous to run around without Railgun protection though so they can be pretty effective.

You are absolutely right. Thunder has almost as big damage per shot as Rail. Rail has basically 2* longer reload than Thunder so it needs to deal atleast 1,5* more damage per shot than Thunder. Rail is currently useless due to low DPS and gets wrecked by OP Magnum, Thunder and Smoky. Something should be done with this.

Maybe a vertical aiming buff or rotation speed buff. But that's it.

 

Imagine what a damage buff would do to the already OverPowered alt that high caliber ammo.

 

 

The one turret that truly deserves a damage buff is hammer.

Hammer deals enough damage. It has Thunder damage (only at short range) and Smoky reload. I think that clip mechanic on Hammer should be removed to make it stronger.

The clip mechanic is the only distinctive disadvantage hammer has. Take that away, and it'll be too strong at short range.

 

A damage buff is more appropriate, I never said it had to be big. Maybe 50 more points at m0 and 100 at m4 and whatever in between.

 

Another way would be to slightly improve the reload time in between shots and in between clips.

A slight improvement in reload would it OP? :huh:

 

All it really would do is reduce the number of situations where you have one more shot to kill the enemy but you also have to deal with the clip reload time. Just when your clip reloads, you're dead because OP firebird burn got you.

 

At least hammer isn't and won't be like railgun where you can just shoot from afar. You have to get close to the enemy and sometimes you succeed and sometimes you don't. With railgun, you always succeed because of the range. ;)
