Smoky, the new OP turret?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Smoky has an M2 alt which increases both reload and damage by 20% so it is more like Thunder.

Smoky has better DPS than Thunder, Shaft and Rail.

I already said that Thunder is slightly more OP than Smoky. When Smoky has M2 alt, it is as OP as Thunder.

Um, NO. That alteration actually is only a 20% buff to max and critical damage (50% min), but adds an extra 50% reload time. With it equipped, Smoky does less damage per shot than Thunder, reloads equally slow, and doesn't do splash. Thunder wins, especially if it has the light weight ordinance loader.

Fixed it for you.

Perfectly.

I have smoky m3+15 and quite often play against legends and most of the time I'm at top 3 in CTF. For me the high rate of fire is crucial. It helps me keep enemy out of aim while finishing it. I have many times killed shaft at Massacre by charging and shooting to keep it out of aim. Sometimes I get killed also. I would prefer +10 % higher impact force to my shots.

Perfectly.

At ranges beyond min damage smoky will have the advantage.  The critical suffers no loss due to distance.

So with alt equipped smoky avg damage ~ 428 at m3

Thunder average damage at that range ~ 387

How often does this happen?  Maybe not often.  But if get a lucky map selection, or you can pick your map...

Just nerf Thunder and I'd be fine with the smoky buff cause at least facing 3 smokies and winning is possible, but facing 3 Thunders is certain death (cause of splash)

Popularity point of view I have seen groups of Thunders, groups of Freezes, groups of Isidas, groups of Fires  and groups of Magnums most often in battles.    I think that kind of indicates the OPiness of those turrets.

Ok, sure, thunder is really good at spawn camping where smoky lacks in because of the splash, but it also the splash that makes it kinda difficult to retaliate when you're the ones getting spawn camped. Smoky IMO excels at this.

Do you think that nerfing Twins and Rico impact force by 25% would be enough to make them balanced?

Nooooooo!!!!! Twins needs it's impact force, that's what makes it good and useable being when they added splash people just ram you like they do with Thunder

That huge impact force is enough to constantly knock my aim even when I use M2 Titan...

Twins should rely only on its DPS and infinite fire. All other weapons with high DPS have disadvantages like losing energy (Fire, Freeze, Isida, Rico), clips (Hammer), overheat (Vulcan). The main disadvantages of Twins are double barrel, low damage per shot (Twins must pay attention on peek-a-booing enemies) and splash (can be removed via M1 alt).

Try to buy M1 no-splash alt and try to use Viking because of its speed and low height. It is the best hull for Twins.

I think people overrate Twins' impact force. I hardly notice it when I am shot by it, especially compared to Ricochet. I think Twins is fine the way it is. A nerf would render it unusable.

No - they don't over-rate the impact.

It is way too much for a turret that has constant fire.  It can be impossible to fight back against that.

This would be my first choice for a nerf and makes most sense.

Otherwise a damage nerf, or > time between shots (reload) should be applied.

Or increase the protection percentage of the twins module to 75 to 80%

nah, classic Titan is best for Twins

Which patch note?

Regardless - they did not nerf the impact enough, as it is too high for a rapid-fire turret.

idk what patch note, maybe the major rebalance 2 years ago I just remember there was an update that put a major nerf on Twins and pissed off pretty much every Parkour group cause of how much knockback it had after the update

so you want to give it little or no impact force? That would be just great, let's make it so what no matter how much you shoot someone they'll have a perfectly clear shot at you

Never aid "erase".  Reduce would be just fine.

https://en.tankiwiki.com/Global_update_of_game_balance_for_Tanki_Online

Here is the link. Reload has been nerfed again since then as M4 reloads in 0.265 seconds at M4 now (according to the wiki).

EVERY turret was changed with that patch.

Many turrets suffered as much, or more than twins that day. I mean look at Isida - lost self healing.

Self-healing loss was tragic but kinda necessary (though they could have just lowered it) but Twins stats basically got halved

Impact force went down ~ 12% (should have been more)

And I see more green (buff) than red (nerf) on the twins summary.

I agree on the reduction of self-healing - they should have tried 25% instead of the useless 10%. They were already reducing damage on 4 of the 5 m-levels.

The weight of the hulls were also nerfed back then.
