Camping Weapons Recharge By Moving Around

Recommended Posts

My idea is to limit the effectiveness of the strategy of camping. Basically, I want to make it so that campers are forced to move around a lot in order to maximize their damage output. The 2 turrets I'm talking about are Shaft and Magnum.

Basically, the recharge bar requires you to drive around to reload it instead of automatically reloading. Hulls like wasp and hornet will reload their shaft/magnum much faster than heavier hulls if they move around near top speed.

This concept is to urge campers out of their camping spots or else their reload will take a long time. It also tries hurting the Magnum's aim because most of the time, people found a perfect direction to shoot at and they don't change it. Now, you can't use Magnum through repetition.

Of Course, with this strategy you can move back and forth a little bit behind your wall to eventually recharge, but your reload speed will be correlated directly with how quickly you are moving around. If you do not move anywhere, you will only be able to slowly reload. However, for most hulls, by moving around a lot, with this idea, with make your reload faster than it is right now.

Camping weapons are designed for camping, so it makes no sense to give them mechanics that favour camping, but at the same time force them to move around. This idea won't make camping less effective, but it will make it annoying and inconvenient, which is not something you want in a game.

I do agree that campers are often annoying when they constantly attack the same spot from cover with no way for the enemy to retaliate, but this is not the solution we need.

In that case,

Magnum: Designed for Camping. Reality: does whatever the hell it wants at any range.

Shaft: Why does it even have a short-range arcade mode if it "makes no sense" if Shaft is a sniper?

This idea WILL make camping less effective. If your only cover is the wall in front of you (e.g. monte carlo, highways), your dps will be significantly cut since you can't move or else you will be killed. Giving a player the chance to quickly pick-off a camper is a nerf to camping. And honestly, it's only a teeny bit of driving around back and forth. If that's annoying, imagine how annoying it is to be a non-camping weapon that actually has to move around to kill players.

I changed the idea so that there is a limited base reload time if you don't move around. It will a little longer than it does now.

Besides, campers can help their team in defence, especially in CP. With your idea, they would have to go for a walk and then come back to their spot.

Btw, why Shaft and Magnum only? Railguns camp too sometimes.

To be honest, campers, although they are the best at picking off enemies, are not good defenders. They take a long time to kill 1 player and they usually target the player that poses the least threat. They essential kill the tank that isn't playing much of a role and can just respawn as if nothing happened. When they do kill a flag carrier, their flag is usually already in the enemy base.

The non-camping Railguns would be too OP if they got the benefit as well.

What about the non-camping shafts and magnums then?

They get to be stronger. I want to at least have the chance to kill a Shaft or a Magnum instead of it being impossible because they are in the back of their own base.

It depends of the map. Magnum in Brest is good in CTF. Shaft can target a flag carrier on a bridge. And can kill anyone who tries to capture a point in CP.

Why is everyone complaining about Shaft lately? It's already the least used turret in the game and requires more skill than anything else to use being the second someone sees the laser they rush behind cover or shoot you before you can even charge up

Hell no.

Wasp M3 20/20 + Speed boost + Magnum + Double damage = Juggernaut^2

1 shaft shot. 1 railgun shot. 1 hammer shot. 1 magnum shot. Easy kill.

pretty much, it's only OP at M0-M1

You are right. Low rank players with Rail, Thunder and Smoky just can not shoot accurately across the map.

In high ranks, Shaft gets shot by enemy Rail, Thunder and Smoky players after stopping to charge the sniper shot so it needs to use RK after most sniper shots (full charge sniper shot with DD ≠ guaranteed kill). Shaft basically needs 1 repair kit and 1 DD to get 1 kill. How can it be nerfed even more?

with Shaft you wouldn't even be able to track something that fast, with rail the best you could hope for is maybe flipping it, Hammer you would need at least 2 shots and Magnum would be pretty hard to hit it with unless you know how to track it
