Would you pay real money to play a retro version of Tanki?

I too agree that it's the best atm. However not nearly as decisively as the old viking was.

I did this profile data gathering thing a few weeks back on 4500 profiles. Basically, at m2 ranks usage of dictator, hunter and viking are pretty much equal. This was not the case before the update. So yes, I too think hunter sits on top, but people seem to like them pretty equally.

(and no viking m2 being exceptionally strong modification doesn't factor in. People still use m1 viking over m1 hunter even though hunter is clearly better. Earlier unlock ranks and MU:ing make tier-based power differences irrelevant)

You also make valid points in hunter being tactically more viable, but I really have to question this part: "I can catch up to a viking of the same modification".... you can't. Viking is simply faster, and not in the sense old hunter was "faster" viking actually has decent acceleration.

Additionlly I don't know about the shooting over people thing, very turret specific, for example; my hammer tends to spray pellets over enemies when they get closer. And I often don't have time/space to rock forward for every shot. Shooting over people because you get hit also happens more with hunter. Besides, how often are your teammates blocking your view so badly, that instead of moving a little for a clear shot, you shoot over them? I can't recall the last time i had to do that.

You conclude by saying the switch wasn't equal, which i do agree with. My point was that it's still way more equal than the previous meta. And bringing back the old extremely unbalanced parameters would be regressive.

Viking speed over hunter isn't very noticeable. But the stability that hunter has over Viking is extremely noticeable, so noticeable in fact that a toddler would notice it.

And when you're a Viking and your teammates are dictators, there is no way to "move a little" especially when you're in a narrow passage.

Everyone keeps saying tank is pay to win then pay or quit the game

Why r u playing it if u don't like it

I sometimes hate the updates even complain about them but still wait for further updates (as I know it's really hard to make changes)

Go play PUBG or fortnite as everyone says it's better than tanki

Or don't even play it

As I said some people still like viking more. For example: close range turrets don't  need amazing stability since aim isn't a factor, however even little boosts in speed matter; few tenths of a meter are the difference between getting a kill and being useless. Same goes flag runners, a little faster hull is a clucth escape or a connection with an ally isida. It's all about the style of gameplay you choose, but as you said hunter is more versitile and for that I too think it's better,

To your second point, Well When your teammates are dictators, titans, mammoths or other hunters you can't reliably shoot over them anyways. + playing into narrow passages with a bunch of teammates is usually a bad idea in general, you're just a prime target for a magnum/anything-that-can-harm-multiple-tanks-at-once And where are these clogged narrow passages anyways? Do you play alot of camp, passage or kolhoz. Most tanki maps are pretty open and allow you to not bunch up with a large group of teammates, with just a little bit of care and attention. I'm sorry, but this tactic just seems so obscure to me. With dictator I see the height factor, since you can shoot people on top of normally hard-to-reach areas, like the middle of sandbox, but with hunter that isn't as much of a thing.

Honestly I think the current Tanki is the better version. The only things that it has worse than old Tank is 50% modules and drones but in all other ways it's much better than the old Tanki imo.

Matchmaking is great i don't understand why everyone hates it

I play a lot of MM but only for missions.

But these narrow passages are clearly visible in maps like polygon and highland. If you had Viking as your main hull at m2 for a long time, you would know how bad it is especially up in these ranks.

I wouldn't even though I had an amazing time in that era - But if I did pay the money, the fun/experience/feeling would not be the same, it is all dead and you can't bring anything back from the past. Thing is - We all went through Tanki changes e.g - Re-balances/changing tactics and so on, we all went though that together and we made memories from that Tanki era but right now, it wouldn't feel no where near to 2016 nostalgia.

Yes. I haven't plaid with viking for a while. My current main account is colonel, so I play with your ranks regularly. I have also plaid the ranks from lieutenant-general to fieldmarshal after the update using viking m3. My arsenal is shaft, thunder, and hammer, guns that can't shoot through people. yet I barely ever have had to shoot over teammates. I do avoid getting directly behind teammates, which is fairly easy in most maps including highland and polygon which have a plenty of path choices, an open center, and the narrow spaces you refer to are relatively short and on the sides, easily avoidable if clogged. Ultimately this comes down to our differing playstyles. Mine involves getting a lot of space to work with. I do co-operate with teammates, but only when there is enough space for everyone to maneuver, in my experience trying to co-operate in small spaces ends tragically, unless you're using isida or something.

If you find it important to have the ability to shoot over people I suppose yours is 1 more playstyle that works better with hunter, I can only speak for myself when I say that the ability is insignificant, And I can't really judge your playstyle without actually seeing it in action. Maybe the ability truly does add up to the hulls potential, when people with playstyles, unlike mine, are using it.

I have Viking M2 and I can survive as long as anyone else. We all die. I like Viking because, with the right protection + RK + DD/DA, I can wipe out a sniper's nest. Sometimes that's all it takes for our team to catch up or charge ahead.

:o

Because....

- You can't select your map to match your equipment

- Rank brackets are too wide - have seen players play against 8 ranks higher - that's just dumb

- Map rotation is terrible - have seen Brest 50 times in last month.  Rio... ONCE

- Still have mults due to collection missions

- Devs removed early-battle-termination so we have many, many battles that are quite unbalanced and end 7-0

- Match-maker places players into games with < 4 min left on team losing 4-0.  = Quick exit.

- was once placed in battle with 30 seconds left.  Took me > 1 min to get into that battle

- Too many battle modes reduces the pool of players for each specific mode = long waiting times and silly team make-ups

And so on...

TO does not have enough regular players to enact a proper version of match-maker.  Corners are cut in order to squeeze enough players into battles to make them "playable".

I'd be happy to send in $100 a year or $10 a month to play a version of Tanki right around the Paint Separation time...let the paint separation update stand, but roll back all the other toxic updates.

I wonder if Tanki has thought about starting another game like this...the code should still be somewhere and it might only take one or two servers.  It would be really cool to have Tanki be fun again.

What do you think?  Would you pay to play a good version of Tanki?  How much?

Ok I've been replying to this topic before but this mod viking is so diligent in hiding / modifying my posts I think he has a notification to his email + whatssapp + skype + facebook + sms + discord + irc chat when I post / read / visit / like / unlike, pm or anything / whatever on this forum, he is there to read id and hide / modify it as his own discretion.

Yes, I would be happy if tanki would be pay to play instead of pay to win. But I guess this will be the ultimate solution to avoid the total collapse and disaster that tanki is heading to. But perhaps will be too late anyway. Nowadays anyone and every kid has a 10 a month or/and up for his/her favorite game/hobby. Will live and see.

@ vik the mod my fan : I know you already read this in the second 1 it's posted, but don't delete it again, man!

To buy a 2012 Shaft? Maybe.

2017 Shaft would be enough for me...

After the summer 2018 nerf, Shaft arcade shots are totally useless. They can not finish enemies anymore.

Shaft is dead, long live the Thunder and Smoky!!!

Did you know 2012-2014 shaft could kill 3-5 enemies if they were lined up? Just like railgun.

Best Tanki design to be honest, hands down.

And then in the rebalance update of October 2016, it lost its penetration ability
