Isn't there a topic for match making  suggestions?

 

After needing an effective way to balance players on teams, the next biggest problem with MM battles is players leaving. It isn't possible to prevent them from leaving. So, we need incentives (carrot) to encourage players to play entire battles, and we need a penalty, but the penalty has to make sense, and it can't be loss of crystals. (That simply isn't fair, and would be more likely to simply discourage players.)

 

Various incentives spring to mind easily, but Tanki doesn't seem to be trying. Oh well. Maybe they have a master plan, and it is taking longer than we might expect. But, for penalty, only one reasonable penalty comes to mind, time.

 

I suggest for a nine-minute battle, a player who exits before battle completion will have a nine-minute delay before being able to join the next battle queue.

 

It is a simple and obvious disincentive to leave the battle, but takes nothing away from the player, nothing earned, but only the time that would have been "wasted" in the battle anyway.

 

If a player enters a battle, the player should complete the battle, even if the cause is hopeless. Claiming the time is wasted isn't much of an argument for leaving early, but it is senseless if the time is lost regardless.

 

Let's put a timer on the MM page that only shows if a player has left a battle before standard battle end. The timer will count down 9 minutes while MM buttons to join battle are deactivated.

 

We still need some incentives, too.

It's a terrible solution since, while it will reduce the number of people leaving, it will increase the number of people sitting in battles and doing nothing, waiting for the end. If a player leaves, a new one will replace them and keep playing. If a player stays and becomes inactive, then both the inactive player and their team will suffer.

Think of it this way: there's a game with 5 minutes remaining. I don't like it and I want to leave. But if I leave I get a 9-minute penalty. But if I just stay in the battle it's only a 5 minute "penalty". So obviously I'm gonna stay in, it's the faster way. But I'm not gonna play. I'm just gonna go watch YouTube and return every 2 minutes to reset the pause timer, because no one wants to play an unfun battle. So instead of possibly a more eager player taking my place and being useful, you're just gonna get a mult for the rest of the battle. Would you prefer that? 

 

Because that is exactly what your idea will do.

I posted this a couple days ago. I posted similar on the VLog discussion. You just didn't get to this one first.

 

There needs to be incentives for staying in battles. If "active" (as in "Stars") is the criteria, forget it.

You're a Legend. Have you forgotten what it's like to be at a lower rank with M1/2 equipment up against M4 equipment? That has happened to me with MM. I couldn't kill any tanks and I was an easy target that was sought out for an easy kill. Am I an asset to my team or a heavy burden? I say I'm a heavy burden and leave to make room for someone of a higher rank that could possibly be more of an asset. And you want to punish me for that? FINE! Then I'll hide behind a building and mult with the rest of the lower rankers. 

 

An incentive to stay in battle on a losing team is to:

 

1...Decrease the price of equipment, including drones, modules, etc. by about half

2...Increase the funds of each player so than no one gets less than 1000 crystals

3...Make ranking slower so the player can save up enough currency to buy the next upgrade upon ranking up. 

4...Get rid of the MUs.

5...Make the MMS to that a player will never battle another player more than 3 ranks higher. 

6...Keep the store, but only for cosmetics, gold boxes and containers. 

 

Well, that list is long enough, the list in my head is much longer. Tanki is not going to do another do-over.

Making MM better would keep players in battles more than anything else.

Exactly. Fixing the cause of the problem (making better MM), is far better than creating a new solution to the consequences of the problem (forcing players to stay in battles).

Have you considered this ~ if you didn't enter the battle at all but kicked out for inactivity/failure to load into battle, would you still get a 9 minute delay?

Also removing ASL, Rugby, and Juggernaut game modes and making them exclusive to pro battles, since they have more advanced settings than the original four game modes.

I want ASL to stay because it's a unique and interesting gamemode. 

 

Yes I know I have a post about ASL being biased literally on the front page of Ideas and Suggestions but if they fix those problems I think ASL could be really cool and fun.

But then we lose players in all the other game modes, thus making us wait longer to get in a battle.

 

And I only said to remove it from MM and making it exclusive to pro battles.

 

It's a more advanced game mode.
