Dreams.

What's the first thing that comes to mind?

Say it slower, softly... allow the emotions and memories to flow.

Dreams.

Why do they exist? Why can I perceive such an unknown world? A vast world so baffling, but yet leaves me at a loss of words for such profound feelings of peace and happiness?

Is it because of... me? Who I was, who I am, who I want to become? My mistakes, my past regrets, what are my dreams trying to say to me?

What are Dreams?

A withdrawal from the Hell I created...? An escape from reality; from my past?

Dreams... simply a minor stage of the human sleep cycle. A pity that such fools waste their time complicating pointless things in life. Indeed, a pity that we humans are wasting our lives to discover more about ourselves, don't you agree? We, humans, were magically formed with too many unanswered questions. It's a shame that our emotions are one of the hardest to answer and an even bigger shame that so many fools are trading their lives to discover an answer that does not exist, wouldn't you agree?

Emotions... why do we feel how we feel? Why can't words describe how you felt when your lips touched upon the soft, warm cheek of your first love? Why can't you describe how it felt when your heart became ever so cold, longing for the protection of her warm hugs, longing for the people in your life that have become only a memory? You were given such immense happiness, but shortly robbed of it, only leaving yourself as the blame while your ice cold heart continues to shatter into tiny fragments inside of you. It spreads throughout your body, your blood is freezing up, your heart's slowing down, you start to feel numb, but you smile. You can no longer feel the pain, nor the guilt of her death, the blizzard inside you slowly abducts your consciousness and gives you one last vision. Your life flashes before your eyes, the life that she was a part of, lets you rejoice one last time.

There's no point in me asking you questions that you can't answer. Forcing you to acknowledge the demons in your mind that you've lived with, it's not straightforward. Going through the mental suffering of recalling our worst memories, only to raise even bigger questions about our emotions that we can't answer consciously.

But what about our unconscious state? Can we find these answers in our dreams? Perhaps that's what these tiny visions are trying to tell me!

There's much more you have to understand first. Dreams are a prevalent experience that can be described as a state of consciousness identified by emotional, sensory, and cognitive circumstances during sleep. We can't control our body, nor can we control what happens in these so-called visions. We dream four to six times each night across our five major stages of sleep, yet occasionally we awaken ourselves not being able to recall a single one, another question with no answer.

Are dreams really the key to answering our questions? Remember those fools I talked about that wasted their lives on these questions? Those fools proved sleep does not help people escape from their unwanted, tragic memories. Life is not hand carved to provide us with the best explanations for all of our questions. Humans have evolved but still, follow a cycle. After the basic necessities of life are met, one desires to feel love and affection, which is often mistaken for lust.

Humans are social animals, we cannot survive without interacting with a companion, but once we acquire it we abuse it. After the basic needs of life, after love and affection, we desire power. Why? That's another question for another unwanted dream. Another powerful vision of what feels to be an eternity of pain, another cry for help that travels nowhere beyond the boundaries of your unconscious soul; a Lucid Nightmare.

Approved.

Edits:

Nothing major, only changed the size of this sentence "A withdrawal from the Hell I created...? An escape from reality; from my past?" from 8 to 10. otherwise the reader would need a magnifying glass :)

A good little compact philosophical article. Now that you awaken from your slumber, maybe we will see more coming from you. Keep it up!

The YWA's full of depressed writers... yet they never let me say anything sad.  Wonders why...
