Why Tanki items cost more outside of Russia

I found this post in the archives explaining why Russians seem to pay less for Tanki items:

I've not checked and verified the numbers claimed above, but there is an existing discrepancy in prices for sure.  And the reason for that is just international economics.

The game's house is in Russia, its banks, lawyers, facilities, employees, taxes, etc ... all in Russia.  And a huge chunk of their customers from Russia as well.  Whenever these guys buy something in the game, they pay the local prices, just like you would for buying anything in your own country.  So far so good

Now for the rest of us not in Russia (or neighboring countries with strong ties and economics deeply interwoven with Russia's) , we have to go through an international monetary transaction system to buy anything in that game.  And that involves our banks sending our order through its payments aggregator / service provider and they deal with the middle guys (paypal, google wallet and such) and then these guys deal with the other intermediary companies in between and then it goes to the transaction services providers of Tanki's banks and then it finally gets to tanki's bank account.

^ That long process happens electronically and in mere seconds, hence why we often forget about it, but nevertheless that's how it works.  And along that chain, EVERYBODY wants their cut on the transaction.  When you add all that up the price has already increased rather significantly and wait, doesn't stop there !!  Now tanki also has to pay other taxes on these foreign incomes as required by Russian laws and tax policies and probably that's at this point that cedric will come and say "hey where's my 1 cent in that?"

^ That last bit was of course a joke, but, you get an idea of how long a payment chain can be.  And each of these services along that line has their own charges, and all these add up and we have a big discrepancy.

Another factor is currently Russia's economy is being boosted internally, check the news, and a lot of these service charges that russian locals would have suffered from, or rather bear the cost of, have been lowered, and that's another factor to consider in these discrepancy.

TL;DR :  Always costs more to buy when its done on an international scale involving international intermediaries.

Minimum wage in Russia is so less, I think it equals 120$. That's why so many things are cheaper 50% than the other markets, you can also see this if you see the Mexico shop. It's even cheaper than Russia market.

Lol, you could have ss that instead. But who cares i guess.

But thats an interesting post u dug up

By "ss" I assume that means "link." I thought about that, but since so many players have mentioned price discrepancies, I'd put it right out there in black and white (black and grey?) where more players would be most apt to read it.

I'm not a computer geek nor do I pretend to be one. Some abbreviations and jargon from the world of computers goes right over my head.

Get a job in Russia and see if it pays as much as a job in the U.S.

Wages in Russia are much lower than the US. Russia is recovering from its second economic crisis since 1991. It takes years for a country to recover. Wages are coming back up and inflation is going down. There were several catalysts that happened all at the same time that caused Russia's economic decline. If you want to know more about it, do some research.

I don't know if this topic was a question or a clarification but the quoted post pretty much sums it up.

Is it even possible to live in Russia when the minimum wage is such low there???

Minimum wages in EU (in the countries which have minimum wages):

Luxembourg - 2000€

Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium - 1550€

Germany, France - 1500€

Great Britain - 1400€

Spain, Slovenia - 850€

Malta - 750€

Portugal, Greece - 700€

Poland, Estonia, Slovakia, Czechia - 500€

Croatia, Hungary - 450€

Latvia, Lithuania, Romania - 400€

Because stuff is so cheap in Russia. Not just Tanki. $50 will get you a cheap ass motel here in Texas right off I-10 with sketcy homeless people in the parking lot probably engaging in unlawful bodily self-harm. In Russia you can get a 3 bedroom 2 bath w/ kitchenette in the good part of St Petersburg with a balcony overlooking the harbor. Ask the Mighty Jingles, he has some funny stories about it.

It depends on the country standards ofc like everyone said. If wages are billions of "something" price of bread would be million. Doesnt necessarily need to apply to tanki too but thats how it goes, also currency convertions over internet have some fees of course

Everything costs more in the US or in the UK than 2nd or 3rd world countries due to the wage gaps. For instance, I could buy a large pizza in China for 1 USD or an entire breakfast for 0.50 USD. Apparently in India, with 1 USD you could buy a truckful of soda. Same could probably apply for Russia.

Vary beetwen regions. In Moscow it's about 250$, while in other regions it can be ~140$. There's a table if you interested (in russian and in roubles, obviously) https://www.gazeta-unp.ru/articles/51943-mrot-v-rossii-s-1-yanvarya-2018-goda-qqq-17-m08

But in reality people easily can earn only 90$ or less, even with all this norms. And they work for this 90$ 12 hours a day, six days a week. Not everyone of course, but it's a common practice in poor regions.

It's possible to live with such wage, because food and other stuff cheaper than in other countries too. Still, your life would be... you know.

It's not as bad as it seems. As statistics say, there actually aren't many people who's that poor; 50% of russians have an income over ~390$. But yes, some people live in very bad conditions.

Statistically speaking, the poor population may not seem like much, unless you happen to be one of the poor. I grew up poor, and statistically, the area where I lived was upper middle class. We struggled, but we managed to muddle through.
