Once upon a time... Nah. Actually, it was just couple months ago.

          On a calm day in Tanki Online, everyone is busy - some sweating while playing in XP battles, some busy mining the enemy base on Silence and some just chillin' in the General chat with their friends. One guy, like the others,  with average skills (or... honestly, below average :ph34r:), a good temper, helpful... decided once, to stop being like the others, to get out of the daily routine.

One day, he found out about the events, and so decided to try 'em out and to see what happened. He got in his first event: "I really enjoyed taking part in the event, it was great!" he said. Day after day, he started gaining knowledge of the events, and was therefore able to help people in the Events chat. Later he decided to push his helping even further and apply to become an event helper and that's exactly what happened, he applied, and each day, hour, minute and second he checked his forum PMs for any response; still nothing. Although he didn’t feel bad or anxious, he carried on his helping others in the events as well as enjoying them himself.

A couple of weeks passed. He opened his forum PMs as usual… and the surprise! He got a reply and hurried to open it, he found out that… he got accepted! He jumped for joy! He was instantly presented to his fellow comrades; the other Event helpers. At first, he had no idea what to say, shy probably. Later, he started talking, was quite happy since he got new friends; cheerful and helpful ones. They spent a good amount of time teaching him the basics before the event of that day began: “Shooting Range”.

With an hour left before it started, the young man started his job by immediately going to the chat to answer tanker’s questions about the events. He was carefully doing so, providing links when and where needed, but he was already so stressed out since it was his first time. His fellow comrades came and reassured him; “You’re doing pretty well, man!”.

5 minutes left for the event. Everything was set-up, ready. Helpers, as well as the organizers, are in the map, checking the last few details before the link is posted…. Suddenly, something went wrong: apparently, one of the helpers lost connection to the server...

Did you guess who? Yes, it was him, he was already stressed-out, now he was even more nervous. With 1 minute before the link was posted, he finally fixed his internet and then joined the map. The link was posted and the map filled in the blink of an eye. Most of the people already had the right equipment, the rest were asked to get ’em as well

Edit: AR and FR version will be added in spoilers soon.

Article Approved.

Nice piece, loved the thrilling unexpected twist at the end :lol:

Full list of edits sent in Discord DM, the main thing to note is that you need to keep tenses consistent. You can't have everything set up in the past, the helpers in the map in the present, and then the link was posted in the past, for example.

What happened in the actual event though...

You can't leave me on this cliff hanger; I demand a part 2!

Yeah, thanks! I'll try to work on that :D

Part 2? If it's good enough, then why not :x

Good to see our very own Aquaman writing too! Would love to see a part two to this, possibly going in-depth with a single event or writing an overall view of a day-to-day job of an Event Helper. I've listed a couple of other things you could try to write about below.

  • Your co-workers;
  • Day-to-day tasks Event Helpers have;
  • Your journey and experience so far, after X months.

Overall, loved this peace — especially the start.  :lol:
