New alterations coming October 31st

It's quite sneaky. Not announced anywhere other than in the patch notes.

Vulcan alteration «Incendiary band»:

    now ignites the target for 0,2/sec, and not 0,8/sec;

    additionally reduces damage by 10%

 

Oh come on!. 

Bought the alt because it was finally something that improves Vulcan - even if you have to committ Kamakazi to use it.

Reducing the ignite time makes sense.

And now it gets a damage reduction?  After I've paid for it?   That's just stupid.

They will reduce the effectiveness (expected) and also add a nerf additionally reduces damage by 10%.

 

So who knows?  Not happy about the damage reduction - applied after I bought it.

 

As if damaging yourself to get the effect was not bad enough... <_<

I strongly protest against your corrupt alteration update. It totally ruins and disbalances the game. Protection modules useless.

 

I have tested in battles:

 

(1) fully upgraded protection module M4 against vulcan with alteration burn shots: protection module is useless

(2) fully upgraded protection module M4 against smokey with alteration rapid shot: protection module is useless

etc.

 

Investment in protection modules therefore is useless due to total disbalance in game.

 

I am a consultant in ICT and if your DEV teams keep on developping the game like this, in disbalance, you are going to loose a lot of players.

I actually dont know what will be left of the effect , 0.8 to 0.2 , thats a lot af difference , and your damage at all decreases . It says all about how they tested .... thats not a small tuning , how can you go from 80% to 20% in 1 go ???  I hope 1 of the mods can ask the developers and give me a answer . Yesterday it was , it works as it suppose to do , and there might be some smalltuning , 80 to 20 is not small , 80 to 70 is small .

Actually, now that I played quite a few more battles with the Smoky alteration, I must say that it's not as good as I initially thought. It's perfect for certain maps (and even OP in some situations), but in the majority of battles I was struggling to compete against other turrets with standard settings. So it's not as OP as I initially thought.

Autocannon? (please let it not be Autocannon...)

Is this math correct?

 

Avg smoky dmg within Max damage range = (650+420/2) = 535  and critical is 800

 

in 5 regular shots we have 4x535 + 800 = 2140 + 800 = 2940 total damage  This takes 4 reloads at 1.5 = 6 seconds

 

using the alt is 535-75% = 134 x 4 + 800 = 1336 total damage or 267 per shot.  This grouping takes 4 reloads at 0.50 = 2 seconds.

Over 6 seconds it can do 3x1336 = 4008 total damage.

 

Within Max damage range, the Alt should perform way better -- 4000 damage vs 2940

 

At longer ranges, the Critical sees no reduction so it becomes even more important, and the Alteration, with more criticals should show an even wider margin in damage.

I think there's a mistake there somewhere. Looks like for the alteration you counted 15 shots in 6 seconds, when it should be 12.

The alterations balance changes are coming tomorrow, and I started to change my mind about the alteration after just a few battles with it. I think after tomorrow's nerf it will be mediocre at best.

 

On the other hand, Thunder's new alt is already pretty good (decided to try it just now out of curiosity) and it's actually getting a BUFF tomorrow, so I'm pretty sure that one will be OP. Not to mention that everyone is protecting themselves from the most popular OP turrets now (Rico, Freeze, Fire, Isida, Twins, etc.), so the number of Thunder modules in battles is surprisingly low.

My bad - thanks for setting me straight on the dates. I haven’t bought any of the new alterations yet. I think I will wait another week or two for this current batch to ‘settle in’ as it were.

The concept of firing at long ranges burning debris and lighting them aflame is not a new one. Catapults, arrows, lit oil + material, etc. Introducing this is neat. Vulcan deserves a buff. They are gonna nerd it hopefully not to much. It needs to still be a threat. 

 

I heard people initially say this was a bad alteration haha, it does have its downsides. I.e. takes 12 seconds to use. Have to go through your full clip, plus spin up time. You are dying while using it. An isida nearby helps... but I've only had 2 battles where isidas actually stayed with me long enough to really see what it does. It's amazing. If you have an isida vulcan pairing, or double isida vulcan pairing. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Vulcan+isida+isida as a vulcan player is one of the most enjoyable tanki experiences I've ever had. You kill everything. This lighting them up mechanic, gave me insanely high kill rates. 

 

Let vulcan have the love. 

 

I can factually say, vulcan with the new alt, for the time that I was playing on highways. 

 

Vulcan took the spot as new king of highways. Fact. 

 

You could literally rotate your turret from one side to the other. Light up 5 enemies with 1 second of firing time each. They burn letting you track them for reshooting at them. Target down the small tanks fast. Or the open tanks for quick kill and continued burning. I only got to play 3-4 highway battles during the 3 days before vulcan gets nerfed to what degree I dunno. But I took by far and wide the highest score in those games. And there were shafts. They couldn't compete lol.

You are part right - it should be 13.  First shot overall is a free-bee - just like the 5 for without alt.

 

 

Still not happy they are double-nerfing the Vulcan.  Similar to when they "fixed" the overheat bug...

Score goals in rugby mode is too hard mission, always i lose 2-3 hours just for this.

That's the reason why you get one free mission change per day - use it to get rid of difficult/annoying missions.

Thunder and Smoky are still the most OP turrets in Tanki and they will stay OP forever.

 

The new Thunder alt looks like total garbage. Why?

 

Normal Thunder deals 100% damage at close and medium range, 50% damage at long range.

 

Thunder with alt deals 120% damage at VERY close range (while damaging itself), 60% damage at medium and long range. What is that alt good for?

Imagine that your team has 2 altered Titan Vulcans, 2 Hornet Isidas, 2 Viking Isidas, 1 Viking Twins and 1 Viking Rico.

 

The enemy team has 2 Hunter Thunders, 2 Hunter Smokies, 1 Dictator Rail, 1 Mammoth Shaft, 1 Hornet Isida and 1 Viking Isida.

 

Your team has 2 ranged turrets, the enemy team has 6 ranged turrets. Who will win? It is clear.
