Spend on Drones or Alterations?

 Share

Recommended Posts

I don't like either, I think they are bad for the game, but to continue playing and staying competitive you have to spend your crystals in these new equipments.

For me the answer is very simple: Drones.

What's your opinion?

I'm making this topic to share thoughts. Spend wisely.

an alteration is a one-time payment that you can use it for unlimited time , and if it's worth it then go ahead and buy it

I have a drone and most of the time I don't even use it , it's a battery draining device that will cost you WAAAAY more than its outcome , so I only use it with my free batteries which I get from containers and weekly containers .

simply buy assault drone and use it with ONLY free batteries , and buy 1 alteration for 1 turret that you know you always use

BTW alterations aren't mandatory , you can still use the turret without using any alts you know .

For me alts without any doubt also . Not that drones do nothing , but their effect is in most cases not cost effective . Sure you get free batteries , but if you play for 1 week with drone ( i did last week ) you spend over 1000 batteries and i found they are much less effective then the right weapon/alt .

Drones are an end-game feature where you have a full M4 garage and literally have nothing else to spend your crystals on, so you spend it on overpriced drones and batteries. They are a massive waste of crystals if you have other things to spend them on, such as turrets, hulls, modules and their MUs.

Alterations don't just give you a power boost. Each of them is advantageous to specific situations and play styles, but overall each alteration has disadvantages, which make it worse than the default setting in certain scenarios. I do recommend buying alterations, but make sure to research how they work before you buy them (read the wiki and watch some videos) so that you know that you'll find the alt useful.

But if you don't have at least two turrets, hulls and a few modules fully upgraded, then I'd recommend not spending crystals on drones OR alterations.

Some alterations look great but some not so much. I like Thunder and Smoky (because they are OP xD) but the alterations make them as good as before or even worse.

Alterations on Rail look wonderful. Shell Stabilisation now gives you 100% penetration and the fast reload alt decreases shot delay which is great because I can not get used to the delay.

Alterations of Striker make this turret playable. They are a must-have.

Exactly, they complete the absolute strongest combination possible. Peak performance is always expensive. This is why I never buy high end smartphones, you get a bit more performance but that part will cost you a lot of money.

Drones are powerups of consumables and even the drones are consumables themselves; they're plain pixels in your garage without batteries.

I don't get why we get free batteries. Only the buyers will be able to sustain drone usage. On the other hand, hey we get free batteries.. might aswell use them right?

Lol no, I can handle perfectly fine without the dumb drone on my side... For now.

Well, some drones are fairly cheap, so I think if you are a Legend and can spare a couple hundred thousand crystals, it's worth buying a drone and upgrading it a few steps just so that you can use it when you feel like it. You could limit its usage to really intense battles where you want to win, or perhaps during Star Weeks or similar, where getting the most score is essential to earning rewards.

I haven't used drones ever since they were released (only started using Booster a few days ago because it's OP in JGR mode), and I haven't seen many other people using them, so at the moment it seems like most people don't see them as a feature worth spending on. I'm assuming that once devs decide that drones aren't popular enough after the novelty wears off, then they might start giving more free batteries, doing drone and battery sales, etc.

They're not cheap at all, they eat away the expensive batteries. The free ones are there to use so I get where you're coming from. I guess the least you could do as non-buyer is to buy one drone, MU it a little and use it for special occasions with the free batteries. If you don't use them, you're missing out potential that the game gives you; similar to doing 2 missions instead of 3 a day.

I really hope they stay expensive as hell and give you a slight improvement that is negligible compared to the strength of someone without a drone. Aslong as they remain a novelty and I don't need to use them to counter everyone else, I am fine with their excistence in this game.

It's much easier as a game developer to find a balance between revenue and game balance with consumables. Players will keep buying them and you can stear them in a certain direction (containers, missions, etc) Alterations are permanent... Or atleast they should be; we all know how drastic these things chance lol.

You get free batteries , and if you remember that , then sometimes , like in Star weeks , you can use them the gain a bit of extra .  If only use the free ones , then its not that expensive . But i do have a lot of equipment allready , and most of used equipment is m4 .Anything lower , upgrades before alts ( exceptions excluded ) before drones .

For me drones are indeed a endgame thing . You got everything you need , and sometimes use a bit extra .

More and more drones in battles now. becoming more common.

Where do players get crystals to MU them?  Let alone batteries to power them...

One player had the drone that lays extra mines - within 4 minutes there must have been 30 mines near our flag.  I kept healing him and the enemy never had a chance.  They thought the tanker was hacking.  Was somewhat comical (form our point of view).

Those mines only keep out the close combat turrets. I eat Mags for breakfast, lunch, dinner and as an occasional snack.

I choose Alts. They're a lot cheaper in the long run and use less batteries. LOL. I have 1482 batteries. Maybe by the time I reach Legend, I'll have enough crystals and batteries to sustain a drone.
