Weak damage, freezing and afterburn

Altered Smoky and Vulcan can cause afterburn to enemies. Altered Smoky can also freeze. I got an interesting question. Does the 50% weak damage also apply to afterburn damage and freezing effect?

Essentially it should not, considering that the afterburn damage and freezing effect in Firebird and Freeze depend not on range, but on exposure(i.e, it doesn't matter if the freeze is hitting you from 5 meters or 6 meters, what matters is how much concentration of it is reaching the tank). Since a Smoky shot and a Vulcan barrage lands on a tank at both close and long ranges, the afterburn and freeze effects should still remain the same. I'll check with people who have these alts and edit this post with a valid response.

I have the Vulcan alt, and the afterburn seems to be the same at any range.

That is correct. Once you inflict afterburn on a hull (whether you are using firebird at close range or vulcan/smoky at long distance), afterburn will continue to roast the enemy's hull at solid damage.

I hate that they have burning alts on long range weapons, you get touched by a Vulcan who's shooting you from a mile away and then 2/3 of your health is gone. I think they deliberately left the medkit the way it is; it stops burning... so people spam more medkits in game and they run out of stock.

Sure - but - in order for them to do that, the Vulcan must be damaging itself.

It's incredible how much burn damage occurs to vulcan once it starts.

but a repair kit is practically useless if you use it while still under fire

I never use repair kits when fighting firebirds or freezes , it really is pointless since it'll just disappear in a moment
