Meaning of Asynchronous

In terms of a multi-player racing game, what does Asynchronous mean? I know the basic definition of asynchronous, but I don't know how it applies in this case.

In what context? Where did you read it/want to use it?

Context is a multiplayer racing game. Essentially what he means to ask is (correct me if I'm wrong) how an asynchronous multiplayer racer works.

I don't play racers, or multiplayer in general, I don't understand this either, and I'm not going to trust the internet, so apologies. I cannot answer.

Asynchronous gameplay is a popular phrase for describing various forms of online games that connect players but don't require simultaneous play.

Search "asynchronous gameplay" on google for more definitions.

I looked up "asynchronous gameplay" and I think I got the gist of it. I think what it's saying is if there are not enough players to fill a spot, then the spots are filled in with AIs.

Then a game like Tanki would be synchronous.

With this information in mind, is it possible for the Devs or the Powers to Be to control the game somehow control the game in such a way that a live player rarely gets 1st place but usually gets 3rd or 4th place (there's only 4 players).

I know this puddle of water seems a little murky, so let me try to make it a bit clear. In this racing game, I've been getting 1st place most times or a very, very close 2nd, within hundreds of a second. Now, I'm lucky to get 2nd place and usually place 3rd or 4th. My vehicle is maxed out in upgrades and the tuning parts (which is done separately from the entire vehicle) are upgraded around 10/20.

This game is also on mobile. They did mobile upgrades, added more types of vehicles and more racing maps. That was about 4 months ago. No updates, upgrades, nothing has been done to the PC version, though "they are working on it" is what I was told in an email.

They have weekly events that you can enter with any vehicle you own. The events lasts 3 days and you can enter as often as you want. At the end of the 3 days, the players get rewards (such as gold coins and random tuning parts for vehicles whether you own them or not. I entered them strictly for the massive amount of coins rewarded. It's according to your overall score.

For the past 4 months, I've been unable to enter any events. I press on the event, a popup window comes up instructing me to press the green button to go to the store for the upgrades. I press on the button, but nothing happens. I sent an email regarding the problem and I get an automated email back stating that they are working on the PC upgrades. I've sent about 5 emails asking about target dates. Apparently, there are none.

Now the problem. Since about the 2nd email, my racing score has gone down, I rarely get 1st place anymore and usually place 3rd or 4th (4th place awards 25 coins as opposed to 1st place which awards 800-900 coins depending on the racing map. My vehicle's racing time has decreased by anywhere from 2 to 4 seconds. My vehicle has started doing crazy stuff during the race that I have never seen before. Like doing uncontrolled flips (I don't allow my vehicle to do flips), suddenly speeds up to make me slam into the side of a mountain and crash, suddenly going airborne while in a tunnel making me crash, I'll be in the lead and suddenly my vehicle slows down just enough to let one or two go by me then speeds up again. Stupid stuff I have never seen before. I have another account with a different email address and that one is still a top scorer. It hasn't been affected at all.

My question: Is it possible for someone to control the game in such a way to make my vehicle act this way? I'm thinking that maybe because of all the emails making inquiries, they are getting revenge, or something.

Oh, one other curious thing it's doing. As you level up, you have a Boss race. It's best 2 out of 3 races. If you lose 2 races, you don't level up. In fact, you go backwards several points. I've had no problem beating the Boss up until now. Now, I've raced the Boss 8 times and can't beat him. My other account can beat him with flying colors. Is there a reasonable explanation for this phenomenon? Or are they actually controlling the game somehow causing me to end the "racing season" at a low level with a low score so I don't get the "big bucks"? I also told them that I wasn't going to support them anymore by putting rwm into the game, nor would I buy a VIP account (which I was seriously considering) until I got a full version of the game.

Wow, what a wall of text. Sorry about that.

Basically, the game saves one earlier player's times and exact route through the race track. Then, someone later can challenge that run by doing the same race in single player while comparing their times to the earlier player. Often, you can see the "ghost" of the earlier player while you are racing to know if you are ahead or behind.

That's the friends challenges. I'm talking about the 4 person races.

Asynchronous means sending bits/bytes of data in a non-continous form. They are the most commonly used and most prob tanki doesnt use them

Synchronous meanss sending bits/bytes in a continous form of blocks/frams. In that the time interval is constant so its fast and reliable. used in live streaming, tanki etc

oh and we cant select its done by idk who

If am not wrong async in multiplayer games can be achieved if: even though people compete against each other , their actions doesn't affect the other players , which means everyone is playing on "their own time", and the delay from and to the servers (ping stuff) doesn't matter , it's basically single player with "multiplayer" display

I know I wrote a big wall of text, but most of it is background into the game. My ultimate question was: Because it's an async game, is it possible for my account to be "hacked" (for lack of a better word) by a Dev or someone with that ability. I'm not talking about the kind of hackers like Tanki has on occasion.

A little over 4 months ago, the game was updated on mobile, but not on PC. Therefore, some of the features are no long accessible. On an alt account with a different email I did a lot of complaining, at least 4 emails. All the replies are the same automated message: "Please be patient, we are working on it." Up until then, I was a top scorer. Now, if I win a race I feel it's a fluke. I'm coming in 3 and 4th place. Some of the lower ranks with less upgrades are passing me by, so I know I'm running slower. There are other problems, too. My main account, who hasn't done any complaining, has remained unaffected and is still a top scorer.

I'm just grasping at straws, trying to figure out why my alt account is suddenly doing so poorly. If my main was doing poorly, too, then I could possibly blame it on my computer, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

People have made comments and asked questions, which I have answered, but no one has addressed the original question:

With a game being asynchronous, is it possible for someone to control a players vehicle to slow it down or to speed up the other players, since the other players aren't really there. Can the game be manually controlled? This morning, a vehicle that is notoriously slow beat me going up a bumpy mountain side that, in the past, I would have won easily.
