punish players for leaving battles

I understand that the situation is a problem.
 
From what I hear in the community, some players leave battles quickly if they don't like the random maps; most players who leave do it because they find themselfes in onesided battles (4vs0 flags, team is spawnkilled right from the moment they are join late). They leave as they see not the slightest chance to win, and because they have learned that they have to household with their time.
 
If you punish them for leaving, they will loose the little rest of interrest in the game, and leave for good.
 
In order to make the situation better, it would be more useful, to propose a change that makes the players like to finish battles, instead of punishing them for leaving.

Hey, Tanki X has it, why not this game as well?

'Cause TX is nothing compared to TO, especially considering the better graphics. 

 

Plus, as TO is moving to more mobile based, players aren't expected to stay the entire battle (as seen from MMS times being cut continuously) so I don't think this idea will ever be considered.

If I enter a battle already in progress, there's a few things I look for while materializing:

 

1...Is team being spawn killed...leave

2...Score...if the gap is too wide for recovery

3...Time left...This depends on #2

4...Rank spread...I'll go as high a Marshal, but if I feel as though I'm cannon fodder and I'm doing my team more harm than good, I'll leave

In that order. ! and 2 while I'm materializing; 3 and 4 is done while I'm orientating myself to the map. 

 

Other reasons to leave:

1...dogs barking incessantly

2...doorbell rings

3...an important phone call

4...bathroom break that I know will take longer than the allotted time (I have a walking disability and the bathroom is not nearby. I'm not about to put a potty chair next to the desk).

What if I'm horribly outmatched with people 4-6 ranks above me? What if I'm placed with a bunch of m1 warrant officers vs lieutenant RTL accounts? 

 

I say NO to this because I don't want to be stuck with a hopeless mult team (which happens 95% of the time), and then get PUNISHED for trying to escape them.

Then we could legalize full-time multing (instead of 5 minutes required only for a 0.01% ban chance) for people in useless teams. Looks like good idea to me.

Yeah, you think it's a good idea until the MM puts you in a battle and the score is 24-0 and guess which team you're not on. OK, you finish the battle and the score is 26-0. You change battle modes and MM puts you in a battle where your team is being spawn killed because its 8 vs 4...ah, btw, you're not on the team with 8 teammates. You've been killed 10 times, but you managed to take 4 with you. OH!! You say you're multing? I say...chickena$$.
