How practical is this Railgun Alteration?

 Share

Recommended Posts

I've seen some very interesting damage outputs by the Hyperspace rounds (alteration) of Railgun.

Is this alteration really useful in a real game?

Any advice or experiences from anyone that tested this?

It would be very useful for dealing with Isida trains. Or if there is only one entry and exit to a base which attackers use and they're often one behind the other. Otherwise the drop zone of a Gold Box would probably be the most common use for it.

It doesn't seem that useful in an everyday game, it's rare to even align 3 tanks in a normal battle. So the additional damage which it offers is rarely used to it's full potential.

3 tanks aligning is a very common sight in ASL blue team, polygon CP, capture the flag battles in small/medium maps, and players gathering up to share an overdrive.

The main problem is the huge amount of modules against rail which would hinder the multi-kill potential of this beast.

Round Stabilisation and Electromagnetic Accelator 'Scout' look much better than Hyperspace Rounds.

Hyperspace Rounds and 'Death Herald' Compulsator are useful only in very specific situations.

Not good considering how your max damage and impact force is being lowered every shot but only 1 in 8 shots will actually hit 2+ enemies.

the modules are only useful when you're like the 2nd tank in the row, the damage on the 3rd tank would be insane (if that's what you're referring to about the modules vs this alteration)

Not worth it.

How often will you see your enemies line up for you? Not very often I assume.

The impact force and damage setbacks aren't gonna be much of a setback. The biggest setback is probably the fact that it'll deduct 180k from your crystal budget.

Also remember that even if you get 2 enemies to line up for you, you will not even be able to one shot the tank behind it without double power. Getting 3 tanks in a row is already a challenge, and even without the alteration, odds are you will still kill one of those tanks anyways, so there really is no difference.

This alteration is really situation-specific. It's very rare to have more than three enemies lined up for you to take even the slightest amount of advantage from this alteration, let alone two. I've tested this alteration many times, in almost all modes, and the best one turned out to be... Juggernaut. In that mode, tanks are lined up in long lines to kill the Juggernaut, and if you have the right upgrades, the time and supplies, you can put out an impressive multi-kill.

However, in normal games, when the most you're gonna get is two tanks, you are not really using this alteration with its full potential. If you have a Double Damage, and two hulls lined up, then you are going to one-shot them almost every time (provided that they don't have high protections) with Large Caliber Rounds, which is 80 000 less than Hyperspace Rounds. So, in my opinion, this alteration is... useless.

I think a third tank with double armor and +40% rail protection can survive providing it's a heavy hull or a highly MUed medium hull.

The chance of getting 3 tanks aligned is quite rare anyway, only in specific battle situations like what I posted.

After further analysis, this seems like more of a niche alteration.
