2008-2012

There were a lot of problems back then, too, but different than what there is today. Different type of Community, respect between teams, battle plans made during battle and some actually worked well. There was seldom any spawn killing, that was considered....what?.....I don't know, we just didn't do it, except on very, very rare occasions. Silence had 2 maps, then Moon Silence. Oh, well, that era is already down the toilet.

Pretty much a simple, fun, competitive game.

Simply put, although the game may be better in ways now from a developmental point of view, the community is really what made the game in 2013-2014. Right now, all you have are some toxic russian players and the playerbase is really small.

1. Endless amount of bugs

2. Only half the turrets and hulls were viable in the endgame.

3. Limited amount of contests.

4. No rank up rewards.

5. Russians and the rest of the world shared the same chat.

6. FPS wouldn't go above 30 before hardware acceleration was supported.

7. Winning teams would get everything and losing teams got nothing.

8. Drugged up Marshals could turn your 19-3 flag winning game into 19-20.

9. Hackers, hackers, and more hackers. It got so bad at one point that 1 out of every 3 battles would have some sort of wall hacker, fly hacker, or flag hacker in it.

You are looking back with rose-tinted glasses. I'd prefer the current era despite its flaws. The only good thing in those times was the forum. Bruce, Semyon, skitee, CPF, kmak, nuclearbom, latvian_killer, pls come back. :mistergreen: :mistergreen: mistergreen:

2008-2012 were the years of unbalance, and weak gameplay. im pretty sure there is still a website that hosts the oldschool tanki,i tried it, and boy was it painful. the tank felt very slow, the graphics were bad too. whoever thinks its the best time for tanki is talking from nostalgia.

i dont think there is a clear best time for tanki, but i feel like i enjoyed myself the most 2013-2014.

You're right, there were a lot of bugs, hackers. The game was just out of beta, it was still experimental. The Devs asked for feedback from the Community, we gave it to them and they listened. Bugs like spinning turrets (fairly common but fun pushing enemy tanks off the map during that time. Unfortunately, it still happens occasionally).

Yes, low fps and high ping. I remember one time I had to reduce my screen size slightly larger than a postage stamp, but my computer was way outdated by then. It was strictly for surfing the web and email. That seldom happened, though.

Yes, lots of flying tanks, but they were on both sides, still annoying.

The only time I went into a Marshal battle was to collect the blue crystal boxes that both teams ignored. 3 to 4 drop zones and five boxes in each drop worth 50 crystals each drop. That was a lot compared to one box per drop at my rank back then. Of course between drops, I did what I could to help my team with my M0 peashooter. I even made an occasional kill.

I mentioned at one time in a post that the losing team didn't get any of the battle funds. Some of the players didn't believe me.

Like I said, Devs wanted feedback, we gave it to them and they listened. We were the ones that helped Tanki out of beta to make it the basic game it is today. Many of the features players today take for granted weren't in place back then. We helped make it happen.

2013-2015. Before when you were able to play exclusively pro with drugs off, when tanks and turrets still had their individuality, no drones or magnum, protection modules were 20% - 30% and very rarely 50% the game was much more enjoyable.

Now its just a laggy mess full of drugtards who cant even turn their turrets and drug repair jack literally every time you shoot at them on top of the 75% combined protection against you together with the broken alterations, flying drug dispensers/enhancers and the freaking overdrives... Its a mess man, I'm much happier playing WOT now. That game actually has a learning curve and requires skill unlike the p2w power up based junk right here.

They wasted such a great game...

Tanki is losing a lot of players to WoT and War Thunder.

I'd love to play WOT if you can explain how "shell penetration" works if my PC could run it. Ever since 1.0, it runs at 20~ fps and uninstalled it because of that.

WoT came out around the same time TO did and peaked in 2013, just like TO. I highly highly doubt it sapped the playerbase.

1.0 is optimized better than 0.9.x versions, set your graphics to standard (not improved) and turn everything down to min if you haven't already, it should be the same as min settings before.

I ran it at the lowest settings, but again I ran it at high resolutions.

Back in 2014 I remember they used to give 70% discounts every once in a while. There was one on Firebird and I think another on Mammoth. Of course I could only get the M1s because of my rank.

That's not exactly what I said nor meant. I didn't say it "sapped" the player base. What I meant was exactly what I said. Yes, many players left for personal reasons. You read the forums, you've 'heard' the buzz.

I understood you as saying that WoT and War Thunder were responsible for many Tanki players leaving, which I don't think is true.

I have enough time to play Tanki for missions and then play War Thunder xD

In my opinion, War Thunder is much better than Tanki.
