War For The Kingdom (Part 2)

In the midst of the battle, though the confusion was great, one knight of the king managed to escape. He mounted a horse and rode the many miles into the kingdom's capital. By the time he arrived, he had hardly enough energy to signal the guard that he needed to see the king.

It was early morning and the king was in the dining hall. He had a generous portion of food before talking with the crimson knight.

"This Dark lord is really getting to be a problem, Sir William, he said. "He has already taken several kingdoms to the north of us. I fear that we are next to be targeted. The army is ready, so we're at least prepared."

"True," replied the Crimson Knight. "There are patrols on alert all over the kingdom, namely at Lothington. The largest garrison is at the re---. . ."

"Your majesty, Lothington has fallen to the Dark lord!" gasped the messenger as he stumbled into the room.

"What?! you don't mean!. . ." spluttered the king, unable to finish his sentence.
Sir William's eyes widened in surprise.

"Yes. . . I-It's true." stuttered the messenger. We were watching the surrounding hills, when an uncountable number of enemy troops came pouring into the valley! There must have been over two hundred thousand of them."

"Sir William what should we do?" questioned the king. The army is prepared and ready for such a thing as this, but they can't be at Lothington until several days from now."

"I think it would be best to find out if there are as many enemy soldiers as this poor fellow says there are." replied the Crimson knight.

"Indeed there are, my friend," said the messenger. "I know I'm not crazy"

"Still, it would be a good idea to see what we are up against. I want to find any tactical advantage to the land, castle, and condition of the enemy that we can use when we confront them.

"Then that's it! I want you and two others to ride on horseback to the town of Lothington, which hasn't been captured, and scout out the enemy territory. The army will follow behind in three days. Also try to get the people of the surrounding villages to cooperate," said the king to Sir William.

"Yes your Highness; we will leave first thing in the morning," he replied to the king's request. "I notice that you have somewhat of an eager look on your face, my friend," he said, addressing the messenger.
"I do wish to get back at the Dark Lord and Black Knight," he admitted.

"Then you are my first choice to come with us tomorrow. In the meantime, I suggest you get a good night's rest and a bath." said Sir William.

Approved. No edits.

Aren't you going to insert any feedback?  Or does the dear flexoo need a tune-up and a recode?  Ah well Flexbot.

To @dupuy, excellent descriptive dialogue and story in general.  Though I think the second and third paragraphs should be put as one, it could just be my opinion.

Ah this seems like just those good old days in school. Where students would write an account, story or experience and would be judged by teacher.

In this case the students are tankers.

Teachers are News Reporters.

How interesting.
