Scoring Improvement

Recommended Posts

It seems that the current system needs work. Right now it encourages kill and flag stealing, which can often lead to sabotage, especially in the case of the latter. Just today I brought a flag within 5 meters of our flag to capture it, but I was killed by a shaft. My teammate took and captured (Not a bad thing, mind you, thats what he should have done and received the vast majority of the score, despite the fact that he did almost no work.)  Here are my suggestions to improve the system:

For kills:

  • The percentage of the tanks health that was damaged is given immediately as 1-10 points. (That's kind of an awkward sentence.) Example: If I deal 100 points of damage to a tank with 100 health, I get 1 point. If I did 1000 damage to a tank with 2000 health, I get 5 points.
  • If the opponent uses a RK or is healed by an Isida, the score is retained and the damage can be done again to earn more points.
  • The score is rounded to the nearest whole number.
  • A bonus of 5 points is given to the dealer of the finishing strike.

For flags:

  • An invisible radius is set around flag points in maps. It represents the limits of their base.
  • When a flag is captured, the person who took to beyond the boundary of that base limit gets the majority (75%?) of the points. This represents that the enemy base is the hardest part of the map to get the flag away from.

Valid

Makes sense in theory and I am quite against the fact that people can simply grab flags with a 2m distance yet still get more points than the carrier who brought it all the way. This however will require economical re-structuring, since the battle fund will be given out differently and thus will have to be adjusted accordingly. Basically a formal way of saying, it's a viable idea but I don't imagine seeing it being introduced in the near future.

PS: Apologies for the delay!
