AvGeek, yep that's me.

I use x-plane when I've got time.  Spent many months doing graphics and improving others work.

Great sim, but its forum is toxic.

Faves:

MD-500

Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 (top)

Bombardier Challenger 300 (middle)

MBB BK-117 (bottom)

I love the Bombardier. So easy to control and fly. I do have a sweet spot for the MD-11 though

I always wanted to fly one but sadly the Space Shuttle program ended in 2011.

Now you can, but it's super-hard.  I was lucky to hit the right continent with it let enough an airbase.

The most epic planes are B-2 Spirit and Ho 229. These planes do not have tail.

my fav plane, I've always found military aircraft the most beautiful somehow.

B-1, the fastest strategic bomber in the world. Amazing piece of engineering.

Where I am in the UK I get a few nice planes go over.

Yesterday I had the only flying Westland Lysander go past, which confused me.  Airborne it's bigger than it seems, the gull wings aren't clear and the landing gear is deceptive.

The weirdest thing I've seen here is this:

It's on my bucket list to one day see this thing in person:

An-225-Depart-MSP-1170x429.jpg

An-225 Mriya, largest cargo plane in the world, only one was ever built (in the 80s) and it's still flying.

well first of all - salary is based on the airline and keep in mind that money does not come from the company - instead from passengers and cargo.

and second of all - you need to have some form of flight hours to get a job on any airline. you can just get a Cessna and start flying around with an instructor of course. (Yes it will be expensive but it's the only way) the more flying hours - the higher your chance of being hired.

i dont really know much but lastly you will also need to have a lot of flying hours in a flight simulator - not any of those games (Oh please, those are a JOKE) they will put you in an actual flight sim and depending on your airline you need to atleast have 85 hours of experience in the flight sim.1

1After being hired ofc

1.  Simulators (that Sarim calls "a joke") are not in themselves enough; eg 40 hours in xplane won't get you a PPL.  Note 40 hours in a commercial flight simulator won't get you a PPL either.

Nothing is a substitute for RW hours in the air.

2. Way back when (in UK) it used to be common for someone to train for their PPL (40 hours) and on passing 200 hours then apply for CPL which then allows them to train others for their PPL.

Once they have accrued 1,500 hours they can then apply for their ATPL which opens airline doors.

(Cheap route, as you earn while you gain hours).

Way back in 1987 I started that journey.... obvs I didn't finish, £12k in today's money for a PPL in 2 years was just too expensive.

I didn't fancy two years of eating soup and not having a life.

Sponsored training, mentions $42,000 income. https://atpflightschool.com/airline-career-pilot-program/tuition-reimbursement.html

https://atpflightschool.com/airlines/american-airlines-cadet-pilot-training.html

Can't speak for the US but many airlines offer their own training/cadet programmes.  Google.

Uhh whats he talking about?

It's a very, very basic flight sim, pretty much a game actually.

Any flight sim that suggests "using the mouse as a stick" should be avoided at all costs.

And what is this thing?

Hehe, that's pretty much exactly what I asked Duxford.  Obvs your version is a lot cleaner than mine was.

It's a Vorhees Delta, only one made but looks REALLY weird if you're underneath seeing it go over.

Altho it's got a propeller, it's very quiet silent and you don't see that tail.  Just a rather slow UFO.

I didn't know who to call, the police, the government, who?

Apparently Duxford (nearest non-airline airport) (where it's based) get a flurry of What-the-F-Was-That? phone calls every time it goes up.
