Mines are now a problem

Defect in balance: MINES!


 


Blue Assault mode is now a walk in the park if a few team members have the Saboteur drone. I can make it through multiple defenders but never have enough health remaining to make it through the multiple mines.


 


Yes, we can equip mine protection, for hundreds of thousands of crystals, and then we have protection against one fewer big gun.


 


Assault needs to be removed from the missions, or mines need nerfed. Perhaps the mine-free zone around the blue assault point needs to be made several times larger.


 


Mines are everywhere now, either from Saboteur drones or from Magnums. Fantastically, despite most higher-ranked players having several thousands of mines, drones and Magnum and overdrive don't use them up.


 


Mines, mines, everywhere there's mines

I absolutely agree. It's not just Assault suffering from this, but also CTF and RGB, where a couple defenders with Saboteur can block the exists and make the base practically unreachable. The only way to fight it is to try and take out the defence with Magnum/Shaft, use your own drone for counter-measures (e.g. Defender) and/or take Spider module.

 

Just played an RGB game on Wolfenstein and while the two teams were fighting in the middle, one guy in the enemy team mined both entrances to the base. He placed 4 mines (2 at each ramp) and the result is 18 mines at every entrance, which are impossible to avoid and nearly impossible to brute-force on their own, let alone if everyone is also shooting at you. It's not the game mode or the mines which are unbalanced - it's the drone. I personally think that all the extra mines from Saboteur need to disappear after 1 minute.

I agree with this

And/or reduce the destructive power and shock-wave of the mine from Drones. Keep the middle one as strong as normal.

Otherwise this is the death of the light hulls.

The drones dropped from the Saboteur drone could have half the damage and impact, yep.

I myself bought Sabouter because I witnessed how powerful it can be in defense. Just one use of fully MUed drone drops like 5-6 mines which makes it practically ridiculous to breach the defenses.

I just don't think they're that powerful, I mean they're only powerful in ASL mode, cos it's an unbalanced mode with tactical un-balance.

First team to cap in CTF wins when Saboteur equipped.   Just keep that Saboteur alive, kill the attackers and wrack up the score.

 

I bought Miner drone and it pales in comparison to Saboteur in Team battles.

At least you don't have to MU Miner as much to get enough benefit from it (though it still takes 1 battery per minute). If you play normally you might place 10-15 mines in one battle, so that's only 200k to upgrade it to 9 steps which is significantly cheaper than getting a full MU drone.

 

Actually, to get the most out of a fully upgraded Miner, you would either have to play in a long PRO battle with drones, or repeatedly self-destruct in an MM battle in order to place a mine, die, respawn and repeat.

Yeah... the cool-down for placing mines makes this drone less effective in CTF than I imagined.

 

Might be better off in DMs where you die more quickly (and can place more often).

 

But for DM I like my Ricco-Titan combo with trooper drone as that allows you to survive the deadly re-spawn more often...

Only way to make it a little bit more fair is that it should use your "own" mines instead of "free" ones. 

But then you think of buyers, buying them thousands of mines.

I have > 13,000 mines in my garage.  How many battles is that ( and don't forget they keep coming in those containers :angry: )

Then it's not worth upgrading to M4 and this will make more players quit the game.

 

The problem is that the drone lays too many mines.

 

But now devs are trapped. If they reduce the number of mines, the damage, or even make mines disappear, they will make a lot of players angry.

 

I have this Drone, MU 8/20. It lays 1+4 mines and I think it's perfectly balanced. M4 lays too much mines. But it's too late now.

 

Well, devs like to nerf stuff anyways, and without telling us some times, so it would not surprise me to see them nerf this Drone.

At this point everyone should be used to the fact that balance changes happen and an item that's currently OP may be nerfed at any moment.

We all know that, we get this pop up every once in a while about some changes in the rules of the game.

 

Still, it does not make this right.

 

Devs should have known that a Drone capable to lay 9 mines every minute is OP. Their job was to figure that out before releasing this Drone.

Just like they never knew afterburn from Firebird, etc would be OP?

It will be nerfed when enough people buy it and fully microupgrade it.

I appreciate the feedback. Perhaps there is enough here to get the Devs thinking.

 

The last sale was when it became obvious. I expect such a good sale prompted lots of players to try it out. Now it is becoming obvious how effective it is. It is showing up more often, especially in Assault.

 

It is a problem, but, heck, how many severe problems does Tanki have at the moment? MM, Missions, etc., and no progress to show for it, just more promises of new stuff and eventual improvements.

 

I can say one thing good about drones and alterations: One can only equip one drone and one alteration at a time. Small condolence as it may be.

The mines aren't doing that much damage with saboteur drone activated but most of the time they either flip or destroy your hull whilst trying to capture the flag/ball in certain map mode. 

 

I personally don't mind them at all because I love to target the person who has laid out the mines around the flag/ball area.

 

Perhaps - they could increase the cooldown time to lay the mines? Or give cooldown for the mines to expire just like they did with magnum mines, they self-destruct within 5-10 seconds? Hotel? Trivago.

Layer is not doing it just as they arrive... else they disappear when saboteur is killed.

 

Need less mines or less damage per mine from saboteur...

The mines that saboteur lays does less damage than laying 1 mine alone as far as I have noticed? It takes 3-4 mines to at least flip or destroy me.
