Pets and other animals Discussion topic.

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'd like to create an official topic where we can discuss pets and other animals.

Things to discuss consists of:

·Diet

·Behaviour

·Condition

·Environment

This is not the place to show off your pet, if you want to do that, do it here unless you want to know something.

Also you can post memes and GIFs that relate to the topic, but please don't go crazy with them.

Thank you and have a great day :)

Well, let's see. I have 2 dogs: Lady Fire (answers to Lady) a rescued Greyhound. The other is Tucker a BullBoxer (a designer breed of American Bulldog and Boxer).

Lady:

Diet: Dry nuggets with a bit of water. Greyhounds have a small esophagus as compared to other large dogs. If her nuggets aren't served with water (or other type of liquid) she'll choke. She tries to eat faster than she can swallow so the food backs up in her throat. That's just the nature of the beast. Once a week, she gets half a can of wet dog food mixed with the dry. If I have any leftovers from supper, she'll get a spoonful of that. She gets a treat once a day.

Behavior: Very laid back. Greyhounds are basically a lazy dog. That's why they are commonly referred to as the "40 mile an hour couch potato." She's very friendly, loves to be petted and have her ears rubbed. She has her own crate, which I leave open and she can come and go as she pleases.

Condition: Healthy for a 9 year old. Life expectancy of a Greyhound is 10 to 12 years, depends on how much racing they have done. She doesn't run much anymore, just like people, they get their aches and pains, too.

Environment: She's an indoor dog. I have a fenced in backyard, about 1/2 she can roam freely. There's an area in the backyard where I seldom go and that's where she's allow to dig to her heart's content. She loves to dig. She also loves to tear paper and she doesn't care what the paper is.

Tucker:

Diet: Strictly dry nuggets, except if there is wet mixed in. He's the only dog I have had that actually chews his food. I think he likes the crunch. He gets treats once a day, if he's been good.

Behavior: The exact opposite of Lady. He can be very high strung, sometimes I think he's a bit manic. When Lady was younger, the two of them would run together, well, somewhat. Tucker certainly can't run 40 mph and lags behind. But he tried. Tucker is 2 years old and still very much a pup. In Human terms, he's at that age where he thinks he has all the answers, thinks he knows right from wrong, and tries the system to see if it still works against him. He's a chewer, so I have to be sure he has plenty of bones to chew, if I don't, he'll find something to chew. Before I got smart, he chewed up work gloves, slippers, shoes, hard plastic (such as bottle caps, plasticware, and medicine bottles). He's overly friendly in that he is so happy for the attention he will unintentionally hurt people when he jumps up and lays your arm open with his sharp claws. He plays very rough with claws and teeth. So, I don't allow him around small children.

Condition: Healthy. Occasionally, he gets a rash on his belly, but clears up in a couple days.

Environment: He's not allowed to run the yard without supervision. Tucker is an escape artist. I have actually witnessed him tear the boards from the wooden fence with his teeth. He digs under the fence, too. I'm tired of chasing after him so when he's out in the yard without me I put him on a 30 foot tie out cable attached to a heavy steel post driven deeply into the ground. I had it attached to a cement brick, but all that did was slow him down a bit. He's an indoor dog but doesn't always have run of the house. He's very curious and gets into things he has no business getting into. He's mostly kept in the back of the house where I am. He has his own crate, which I leave open all the time.

Well, you wanted to know about my pets and there you have it.

i had two feral pet cats. they were born in the yard we had at our roof. one of them was grey with black stripes and the other one was black. for some reason their mother left them early so they did not get to learn how to hunt. so we used to give them some food. also they thought that if they meow-ed then they would get food so they used to ask for food from our neighbours as well. though the black one was like a normal feral cat with survival instincts, the grey one used to be more curious and do more dangerous stuff in its curiosity (like try to get in our house again and again. though we didn't posses any threat but it didn't know.) They also used to play with each other and when we used to sit in our yard they used to sit next to us on purpose (cat owners, jealous yet?) we used to call them black cat and grey cat. but then the black cat disappeared. later i found out it stayed in my school (my school is very close) but then something bad happened. we moved and now there are no cats. we really miss them and although we do usually visit our old house (since it is very close) the grey cat is not the same. it rather fears us a little now. (except for now since we gave it some food that we brought with for the purpose and it trusts us again but is still very rarely seen) we miss the days we would run out in our yard just to play with the cats and give them food. too bad those days are over.?
