well when i play on chrome, the animations dont show up anyways

Animated paints are not GIFs, you can't just stick a GIF in as a texture without some sort of framework.

I was mostly generalising and didn't think it was actually just a matter of GIF vs JPEG. Still, I don't think it would make much of a difference, but what the hell do I know?  :lol:

I think the animation would still show for the other players, assuming that they have the paint animations still on.

I think it does. 

e.g. If I try to open a forum page "Photo of the Day" with a page of gifs in it, my browser freezes up.

I have no horse in this race - I have one animated paint and never use it.  Just pointing out these are rewards for events (like upcoming WAR) and they will be almost useless if everyone turns that option "off".

Right but I think this is a necessary evil. I'd rather slightly devalue the value of already low-value (since there are so many that are ugly) animated paints instead of forcing hundreds of players to quit each month simply because their computer can't take the stress.
