Improve scoring in battles

Dear TO Admin and Mods.

 

Please may I pass on some suggestions and thoughts in respect of the points being earned during challenges.

 

I don't class myself as a great player, but, like many others, I play with a lot of tenacity and am generally found to be the one who is either trying to safeguard the flag/goal/point etc.

 

Most of the time I'm scoring ones and twos in a challenge, other times I can make some game-changing saves or blocks that helps the team I am playing for. This also applies to many of other fellow players. The problem with this is that we can sometimes end up with a big, fat, zero for our efforts! :)

 

I don't understand the mechanics of how the points are awarded, but, is there away that blocks/flag returns/defence moves could add to a players effectiveness?

 

Without those of us who defend with all our heart, some of the games would be a walk over. Is there anyway You could look at the rules in challenge points to award good involvement in the game - and by this I mean not just scoring kills/goals/etc?

Not sure what this has to do with challenges specifically, but you do have a vaild point. However, it's very difficult to award battle score for things like tactical defence, blocking, etc., since these actions cannot be distinguished from inactivity by the game. It's probably possible, but quite difficult and not worth the effort.

Defenders should equip long range turrets and actively help attackers via camping. Nobody should just sit on flag with Mammoth Fire or similar useless combos.

The best way to defend is to mine the place and camp and protect the miner I have some other tips too...but this aint the place

Yeah I think some moves should be awarded with experience like blocking the enemey, sacrifising not only killing/capturing!

Ever since the BRS has been released, team battles like CTF, CP, Rugby, etc have seen more selfish players than ever before. So my proposal is to add new ways of earning points as a way to encourage teamwork.

 

Here's how it'll be like:

 

· Blocking enemy so that your teammate can capture flag or ball = 15 points.

 

. Blocking enemy from reaching the desired point long enough for you teammates to kill them = 15 points.

 

· Being a meat shield for a teammate = 15 points.

 

· Giving ball or flag to a teammate = 10 points.

 

· Sharing OD as a Dictator = 10 points.

 

· Sharing OD as a titan = 10 points.

 

· Sharing OD as a hornet = 5 points.

 

· Knocking off an enemy's aim when their targeting your teammate = 5 points.

 

So what do you guys think? :)

Idea sounds good, but like I said in the my post of this topic, how is the system supposed to detect that you knocked off aim, blocked an enemy AND helped your teammate, being a meat shield, etc.? The benefit seems very small for the effort such a feature would require.

That's actually a very good question. I guess for now we can make it give points for sharing OD and giving flag or ball to teammates.

I think it should reward players for sticking around the flag/point within a certain radius, since most good defenders use something with range to both support the attackers and attack incoming enemies.

I definitely agree with sharing OD. Just today I was playing Highland CTF and I disabled 5 people in a pile, stopping them, removing supplies AND turning off a Titan's shield. But before I could claim the kills, our Viking turned on his OD and got all 5 kills.

Yeah - those Hunter Freeze that prevent anyone from stealing your flag suk right?  I mean - how are they contributing?   <_<

Or kills made within a certain radius of the flag/point. Before the advent of Magnum and MM, I was always on Highways hiding in the corner at the flag level, keeping my turret pointed at the flag, not outwards towards the enemy. I just sat and waited to ambush anyone who tried to steal the flag. They had pretty much no chance against a maxed Shaft armed with DD. I would also mine one or both of the ramps leading up to the flag level.

I think one of the solutions to this problem is awarding more prizes to the winning team.. not individual players. For instance, if you are on the winning team for lets say 5 battles -- that could award you 15 extra stars.

No - MM got away from that by evening up the rewards.  Your suggestion will just trigger players to ditch the losing team faster.

 

And 15 extra stars?  Doubling up the reward????  <_<

I think rather than giving out rewards by score there should be a more merit-based system. Currently getting lots of kills or capping objectives is the most rewarding way to play, which just encourages a do-or-die bravado I don't have. Aside from positioning and getting kills near objectives, you should also get points for killing/attacking enemies on captured objectives or enemies capturing your objectives. I also think the developers should focus on balancing each hull for a specific role in each gamemode, so even Wasps can perform in something like Assault defense or TDM. Maybe Wasps get rewarded more for tracking down the flag carrier and returning the flag?

 

Hunter and Viking should be supportive and hang around the middle, so I think they deserve more reward for assists/overall damage than outright kills. Dictator is a more offense-minded hull so using it's overdrive go boost teammates should give it points.

 

As for the heavy hulls, Titan should be rewarded for having teammates in it's bubble and damage taken.

 

I'm not sure with Mammoth, mainly because I never see them and if I do they're shafts. Maybe give them rewards for killing key members of the enemy team?

Battle efforts and skills does require some points varying on how good your playing skills are in battles. It is true that battle points must be added to players that performs actions other than destroying tanks. That is giving battle points when pushing/blocking enemies, more points for blocking enemies capping flags, balls and control points. Points should also be awarded when pushing enemies off maps that have no edges. Getting on top on enemies, blocking their sight of view is also an action that I find suitable for giving battle points. Battle points should be giving to any action you make to obstruct or annoy your enemies.
