Brighten up with the Holi Bundle!

I'm glad you're all enjoying the Holi Bundle.

Let me be clear on a very important point here — Tanki does not endorse or support any particular set of cultural values or religious belief. Our approach is to try to be as inclusive as possible towards all of the cultures and religions in our community. However, these things take time and need to be well-planned. Sometimes there can be a delicate balance between making people happy and upsetting others. So we need to approach with caution.

The fact that we released the Holi Bundle does not imply in any way that we are less respectful of any culture or religion that doesn't embrace this festival.

I hope people don't go all out mad this time playing holi... like, throwing eggs? Seriously?

Rather be shelled by a Magnum in Tanki than get egged.

sir if this is the case then why is Rio still has the    Christ the Redeemer    statue still in the map on top of the hill ..along with Iran has a  mosque in its map..players have complained about it for year to have them removed.

The paint looks quite nice, better than I had expected. Glad to see Tanki becoming diverse.

Tanki becoming diverse?!!?? lol

For those who don't know about Holi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holi

This year we will celebrate Holi on 21st march. Thnx tanki for having this.

Okay, here lies the big problem. Quoting the page that was linked in the above post, "Holi is an ancient Hindu religious festival..." Okay - so Tanki is celebrating one religion's festival? Look, don't even try to argue that it's fine because it says right after that quote that "...which has become popular with non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia, as well as people of other communities outside Asia." Would you argue that Christmas is not popular with people who aren't Christians?

I'm fine with not having Christmas - I don't care, I know Tanki is secular so I understand that they wouldn't have a holiday on here that is religious - but for goodness' sake, either put every single religious holiday in to the game, or NONE!

Smarten up, Tanki.

Therefore it is rather absurd to hear you as a staff member raise uncertainty as to why some other holiday might not have a positive theme.

It's a pity that that is how you understood @Viking4s's words. He did not imply that other celebrations/festivals do not have a positive theme. All he said was that having a positive theme is pretty much required for a festival to have a chance to be celebrated in the game. Since he is not aware of all festivals or celebrations in the world, he cannot judge whether they match that requirement.

One very important side note to this, simply matching that requirement does not guarantee that the festival will be celebrated in the game. That decision is made by the company, based on multiple factors.

Both these objects are characteristic landmarks of the city and country, it's what makes them recognizable. As such, it has nothing to do with endorsing religious beliefs.

I don't really care, sorry. I'm not angry, but you say this, and give recognition to this festival, but give absolutely no recognition to Christmas because it is a Christian holiday? Like, no offence, stop saying things like this. Just put in absolutely none of the religious holidays, or every single one. Have fun developing all the paints... and sales...

Wait, Rio has a Christ the Redeemer statue? Where? I agree with CooperO that these are landmarks, not religious things in Tanki.

there are many other things that could have been used for them as landmarks..

think about what others have said over the years on how they don't appreciate how players can hit the mosque but no one can hit the Christ statue or even in the Christmas map the photo in the back ground .

also still wondering why , when were a English server , why we still don't have a map for us . such as the British / Canada / or even USA stuff on a map.. ?? been asking for one for years for the English players..

How about this idea:

Religious/supernatural-beliefs holidays could be observed, but only with paints, designed by players of said religions only.

Non Religious holidays could be observed with bundles, events or whatever.

Holi is the "festival of colours" or the "festival of love". The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships. It is also celebrated as a thanksgiving for a good harvest.

If you have one with similar positive theme and moral value then it is possible.

I would kinda disagree with you because its celebrated only where Hindus are in majority. Well I live in Pakistan and I see many Muslims celebrating Holi along with Hindus because at that particular place Hindus are in majority and some non-muslims celebrate Eid with us even though both are religious holidays. And also its not even celebrated only in South Asia and some parts of USA, Canada and Europe where Indians are.

If Tomatina festival in Spain can be celebrated without deriving any religious factors, why can't Holi? Tanki is ready to accept any festival that can be celebrated in a completely secular manner. And the 'Festival of colours' is one of them.

than why not celebrating any festival of muslims like eid, ramadan etc or not them than there is a big amount of Pakistanis why not celebrate their like Mela charaghan, Lok mela (the not that famous though  ) but atleast basant is one of the biggest festival in India n Pakistan why not that?

Many festivals like Baisakhi that don't have much of a secular theme can't be celebrated without inviting criticism. However, a festival of kites can be celebrated. Edited by Given

If I am not wrong Holi might be the first religious festival that tanki is celebrating not actually celebrating but just a bundle. So why so much non-sense specially for Pakistani players? Tanki might had planned something for Ramadan who knows.

Smells delicious, I like the paint, it's a bit like a wallpaper of a legendary painter. On a side note, I hope this can become a free paint(or can be won in containers), I would love to have it.

seeing we now have this event it now has opened up a can of worms ( just saying) . its time tanki acknowledges all other religions or celebration in  other country's . or remove all items pertaining to religion or celebrations for each and every country. make the game a neutral battle fields , so no one gets left out in the cold..

I dunno, its supposed to be a unique paint that cant be obtained anywhere else. If you can get it in containers it becomes less special.

they used their flag to indicate a language community.

besides, who do they think they are? why should there be something for them in particular? unless there's something for every country in the world but them they have no right to complain

Check what @KILL_BILL_CHAUHAN said above, It is the first time that Tanki is celebrating religious stuff, so you can't know what Tanki is planning on celebrating this year and Eid starts in august, it's only March :)

Yeah, Lets See

See what Viking4s said before. It's not about religion, it's about celebration.

ok if they want to look at it this way , then in July there would be two back to back event sales. seeing Canada is July 1st and USA celebrations is also on July 4th for our founder birthdays . also add on in March / April are there celebrations plus others

all tanki will end up being is sales every week - every other week. it will get over whelming  over time. making tanki look more like a money   game then a battle game with tanks as its suppose to be ..

unless there is something for every other country other than yours, you don't complain.

you country isn't above anyone else's in any way.

just because some other country has something doesn't mean that you should also get something.

they don't have enough time to celebrate every celebration in the world so they can chose what they want to celebrate. if they don't chose what you like then too bad
