Declined Implementation of RU's Forum UI

I find the RU's forum topic of their UI's and other features to be cool than ours. Why that feature isn't been implemented over this community ?

 

Would it be cool to add some profile pictures and Banners ? I know it is work load for Forum moderators but, That's what they are get paid off right ?

Initially it was planned to upgrade all forums to the new engine, but unfortunately some major issues happened when the Russian forum was being upgraded. This resulted in all of their information getting lost, and they had to start from scratch. A forum upgrade for the rest of the communities is long overdue, since not only are we missing a lot of features, but many of the existing features are bugged and make it very difficult to use the forum. But from what we're being told, developers don't want to risk the same loss of data on the other forums as well, and forum upgrades aren't on their priority list anyway.

 

No point having a new topic about it since this has already been forwarded to the CM and developers countless times.

You're just adding a new UI look. How does this result in loss of data ?

The version they currently have is not customization in some ways, due to licensing limitations they can't do some things. UI's are generally tied to the engine, they could (probably won't) emulate the newer UI by developing their own plugin.

Well yes and no, because tanki has some custom plugins already, and those could break if they upgraded. It would be more effort than they want. 

 

Hopefully they give some attention to the forum as it is their line of communication within the community besides email

Its up to your decision to post your image or not. There is already a topic to post your image upon your decision. Isn't that consider a privacy ?

 

It's a lot easier said than done. What do you even mean by "install all your data?"

No it is not that simple, different product work differently, incompatibility means that a program needs to extract the data and process them in a way that would be understood by the new forum engine. If this program make mistakes or misinterpret the data you will end up with weird results and many errors..

Html tag is what you see on you browser, what you don't see is the SQL database that hold the data and the php code that retrieve the data and rewrite it with html tags.

I don't know how many more time we would have to tell you this but NO it is not a simple process of copy and past.

 

IMO the RU forum is worse, than here in term of features and posts. Font and text management is terrible, I had very hard time when I tried to post don the RU forum during the WAR.  So I don't think that it would be an improvement.

I think it would be better to update to the new forum, just in general. I don't know why it wasn't changed, but the new one, is actually better for moderation.. 

 

I also would like to suggest, that in parkour mode, you remove the small countdown on repairs, and allow them to become instant like 3 years ago. But only for parkour mode. This will improve parkour, and actually cause more people to invest in the game, to make sure they have a top notch repair count.

 

Thirdly, I would also like to suggest that there should be a specialised helper role, where they have a stronger communication with the developers/help support. This was the case a few years ago in the Russian Community. And it really would help, as it has been over 2 days since I requested something possible from support, and all I have received was being ignored.. And this isn't great. I spent a lot of money in this game, and would even offer money for the feature that they say is possible and available if they could actually do it.

 

I don't know how to explain it, but I feel neglected that something so simple, is being put out of proportion and affecting me without a reason.

Please post one suggestion per post/topic, to make it easier for us to process. In case of your ideas I can tell you right away that you didn't really bring anything new to the table. The idea of upgrading the forum has been going around since 2015, the idea of improving supplies and other stuff in parkour mode is also quite common and been discussed a lot. As for the helper team - you can post it as a new topic in the I&S section, but it's very unlikely to be implemented, as such a system was already attempted before, but didn't work out.

It's not about bringing something new. Never was. Just an idea to make the people who actually spend A LOT in this game, happier than they are now. Maybe you feel differently, and I agree all players should be treated equally. But, here, it's something small to just make in parkour mode without a cooldown on repairs like it was done before. Most drug players already left, but we can actually try bring some old light back in the game.

 

And the reason why we actually do need a better communications with helpers and developers. Example: The developers did reduce the mining cool-down in parkour, and you know what happened? People were recording and fake reporting for clicker, and these players who were mining "too fast" did get blocked. It was some time ago, and I do understand it was something new then. But nevertheless, to avoid these situations would be beneficial for both parties. 

 

If you spent a lot in the game, and then randomly got blocked, your instant feeling is to leave and no longer spend money in the game. Thus, you slowly remove the players who actually spend. I don't know, maybe for me, it's just frustration that I've had for a few years now. And I know that nothing will happen from your response, but it just sucks that we can't even revert to some past features. This is a huge factor to why a lot of old players complement to Tanki Online was only good during 2012-2015.

Look, I'm not saying I don't agree with your ideas and I'm not saying they are declined and will never happen. But all the things you mentioned have been discussed many times on this forum and there is no need to have a new separate topic about them, since it will just repeat all the same arguments and lead to nowhere.

 

Upgrading to a new forum was intended years ago, but due to server issues it could not be done.

Parkour mode is not on devs' priority list right now, so no changes will be done at least until HTML5 is fully released.

The specialized helper role won't work, because in order to have helpers who can actually solve issues at the level of tech support, they each need to sign an NDA and gain access to sensisve data, which is a long and complicated process that's too much of a hassle.

It is not a question of it should be done or not, but rather when. Dev are looking for an opportunity to do it, but as it is low priority it can take years.

It also of low interest from the forumers, discussion about it will be scarce.
