Fixing the score system in MM-battles

Recommended Posts

At the moment killing an enemy on your own awards you with 15 points. If two players destroy an enemy tank together, 10 points go for the one who actually got the kill, while 5 go to the assistant.

This is extremely unfair, since it happens regardless of how much damage you dealt to the enemy.

It causes two main problems:

  1. The amount of points you get in a battle is highly impacted by luck - with two tanks shooting at the same opponent, one will get twice the amount of points for the same work.
  2. Quite a bit of players try kill-stealing - they wait for the right moment, then shoot to finish off an enemy that was being attacked by the player's teammate. This is technically multing: one does not focus on helping the team, but on their personal score, while wasting precious time that could be used to deal damage somewhere else or killing the opponent faster. This can be quite frustrating for decent players who do not practice kill-stealing.

I'd suggest fixing the issue by dividing the 15 points according to the percentage of damage dealt by each player participating in the kill. Damage taken before using a repair kit or being healed should also be taken into account. Perhaps give the killer one or two bonus points, no more.

Flag capturing is also an issue - I think a player that takes the flag from the enemy base and gets killed right before delivering it should get more than 15 points he would currently get if a teammate takes it and drives those 10 extra meters. Give him at least half of the points earned for a capture depending on how close to the base he brought the said flag.

Also, a player should get points for each teammate he shares his overdrive with (in the future that should be the case for Dictator, Hornet and maybe Titan). Now that coming first in a battle is important (the side effect of Challenges), those good players who share their overdrive regardless need to be awarded.

I hope such changes are implemented - there is literally no reason not to, and it would help the game a lot. Very easy from the technical point of view, too.

That's all from me, thank you!

Declined

According to developers, the system was changed to what it is now in order to "improve ease of control over the rate of point accumulation in matchmaking".

In case you didn't know, what you suggest already existed in the game a while ago (and I think that's how it still works in PRO battles) and we do not accept ideas for reverting updates.

I would say and agree on the same thing @Maf says.

I give it a 3/10

I do agree with some aspects of this though.

I do support the idea, but I'm just saying that devs had their own reasons for changing the system.

True, in my view, only some aspects can work of this.

Personally, I can't see anything wrong that could happen. So many people play just to get stars, without caring about the team. I am in a clutch with the March Challenge, so e.g. when a teammate carries the ball in RGB I often hope he won't succeed in scoring, that is if it I am abput to drop down in the leaderboard and my team has no chance of winning. Of course I do not try pushing my teammate, but I so often see people purposely letting their teammates get killed just to get the ball scored themselves (they do not shoot at the enemy or share their overdrive).

Dividing the points for killing is against the rules? Alright, but why not be generous to flag-assistants and people who use their overdrives in the most helpful way?
