Showing player's efficiency in the experience bar

I've noticed that tanki online doesn't show the ranking of a tanker along the experience bar, even though they calculate the ranking of the tanker.

I mean I can see my ranking only if I go over my Ratings. So they have that statistic then it really good if they show it along the experience bar.

I mean something like this:

Benefits:

1) It's one of the best tactics to get a new user hooked to the game. The reason being that in start your ranking will get better at a really fast rate since it has exponential growth. Like playing just for few hours at low rank can increase your ranking by millions. (referring to low ranks like Corporal).

I mean most of the games I played when I was a kid were because of the player ranking system.

2) Everyone will actually notice and track their position (since they can see it being updated after every battle). This will increase the engagement even by the high rank players. Right now I hardly see anyone playing to get a better position. They mostly just play for the rewards on special occasions.

This will give them one more reason to play the game.

Disadvantages:

EDIT:

For any developer reading this:

Again, not a lot of player would need this.

Here's my personal experience.

I started playing in 2014 and there was one common thing use to happen in chat those days.
There was a question, a question everyone use to ask everyone. "What's your rating??"
My only reason for playing tanki was getting better "Player rank" than my friend and I played for months even after I defeated my friends in ranking. But then in V-log they announced that they will be changing the algorithm of rating and it will be back once it's fixed. But rating didn't come back for 2 years I'm I'm not wrong.

I played for almost 1 year but just 6 weeks after they removed rating, I stopped playing the game entirely. Even all my school friends stopped playing within the first 2 months after this update. I just came back after they released that rating website.

Now just few days ago there was a get together and all my friends were there.

We were talking about random things, and I told them that I'm making tanki vids and have a channel.

While these random conversation were going on I asked a question, "that's okay, but why you guys left playing though?"

At first everyone was like,"It became boring","It was not that addictive" etc.

But then something strange happened, one of my friend said, "Cause they removed the RATING SYSTEM!"

and suddenly everyone was like,"Yeah, you are right" , "Yes", "Exactly".

They all agreed that since rating was removed they didn't fell that much addictive or like they didn't have a particular goal to play,  and after few weeks they left.

Although ratings are available now, but they are not along the experience bar. That's the reason people don't even notice it.

Here's a thing that I read once long time ago.

Google once removed "I'm Feeling Lucky" button from google homepage since no one use to click it.

Not even 1% people. But just after removing it, they saw a great amount of decrease in their traffic and so again they added this feature. Astonishingly the decrease in traffic went away.

It's all very weird cause no one even notice that button on the homepage!

I mean I just went on google homepage in order to check if "I'm Feeling Lucky" button is still there or not xD

I was shocked. It's still there!

Now I checked all the data and I noticed that tanki traffic dropped few months after they initially removed rating (to improve the algorithm).

The effect was not immediate and they also added a lot of other updates after this one. Maybe that's why they missed the cause.

I still think that people hate and the whole "Pay to Win" stuff  is not the reason. Cause believe me, back then it was 10x more pay to win and I still use to play as a non-buyer. Only few tankers remember those days when there was "Mammoth + Thunder" with all supplies activated without any cool down. That's a real Nightmare!

Now tanki is great. There is Cool-Down, Overdrives, More crystals on less Exp earned in MM battles, Daily Missions, Monthly Challenges, Black Boxes (I was the one who posted the idea of black boxes in Ideas ans Suggestion ), New types of system for Protection Modules, so we can combine any protection, Ability to preview paints before buying, Same amount of Gold drop rate at every rank etc

But still we can't see tanki getting that much traffic again.

This is the tanki traffic for this week.

Tanki is not promoting the game anymore?

Why? It was a great success back then,

It's even better now and has more potential.

Why working on a new Game? cause I believe that tanki can still get 200k players online. It's that good!

EDIT 2:

So I did a Poll on my channel yesterday where 2.5k logged in users voted.

wkyw6k5.jpg

Now this further supports my theory. As per the results, 66% of tanki players who are still playing started playing in 2014 or before.

Which means they are playing from more than 5 years.

But if we look at players from 2016 or 2017, it's way less.

As per my theory I think that many people did played in 2015,2016,2017,2018 but they didn't get hooked to the game.

In other words, they played for few months and then stopped playing. That's why least amount of players who are still playing are from that era.

So most of the people who got hooked to the game started playing during the time when there was Player Rating.

They too must have left for a while in the middle (like I left for 2 years in middle) but eventually they came back. That's the thing that happens when you get hooked to a game.

I can't say that it's 100% accurate... but it's something.

Valid

But it's just a number. I doubt that many people would pay attention to it. Also, by ranking you mean "effectiveness", right? I'm pretty sure it was shown there before, but got replaced with GS.

This may be true, but you greatly overestimate how much the rating affected the player retention. A lot of things were changed in the game in the past few years, and most of them were much more significant that removal of an arbitrary number from the EXP bar.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I personally never bothered with the rating, never kept track of it, and never cared about other players' rating or compared mine to theirs. And I still don't.

I wonder how many ppl who started playing after 2014 never visited GAs channel...  and never did the poll...

Are you talking about Ranking based on the Efficiency Rating?

If that's the case then it will only be useful for Legends, because they have the highest Efficiency just because they are Legends. And because of that only they will get the lowest numbers, starting with the #1.

For the rest of us non Legends, Efficiency Rating and it's Ranking is pretty much meaningless.

Then technically it could affect server performance because it would be another process that the software will deal it.
