April Fool's Joke — Update to In-Game Chat System

Well, the game is gradually becoming more and more pay to win, more after the recent Challenges update.

When weekly missions were introduced, they introduced harder missions and needed more work to get the rewards, so developers increased the value of containers.

With the release of challenges, they reduced the number from weekly missions to balance the change. But doing challenges for a non-buyer isn't easy, even with the 1750 stars. But are challenges even worth the effort for a non-buyer?

An average player who gets 2 stars every battle will need to play 3.6 hours of battles to get those stars or about 32 battles. The player will be consuming supplies every battle too.

AND for all this, he will be getting:

15000 crystals

11 containers (this was supposed to be received from weekly containers, but now you need to play challenges)

50 repair kits (and he would consume way more than that while playing about 875 battles)

150 of DD and DA (again, the consumption will be way more)

120 of SB and Mines(even less compared to DD and DA)

90 batteries (they last for 13 battles, the player played 875 battles)

6 paints and 1 skin.

The amount of supplies and time the challenge takes, a non-buyer who saved a lot of supplies won't be able to complete more than 2 or 3 challenges after which supplies count will become 0.

While, for a buyer the rewards are so good and the time taken to complete the challenge is much less.

That's a fair analysis. I will forward the details to the devs, maybe it will help them fine tune the balance better. Balance is always a works-in-progress thing.

we all say pretty much the same things as you.. today mainly lag or over loaded clan team battles now..

also to the CM .. my other account I believe I sent in under the wrong name , it should be worded like this  Oh-Really

have not received any containers yet on this account.

The form stated very clearly that if you misspell your nickname we will not be able to give you your reward. I'm sorry but I can't afford to keep going back and forth every time a player enters their nickname incorrectly. It would never end. Please be careful next time.

Let me just state it once and for all, then I quit the arguing because I already said I was going to. Sink your own ship if you'd like, I've done what I can.

First, a refutation of your points. Then, my own points.

  1. Doesn't matter. It got popular, all you had to do was change the game according to what players want, and you would have retained your players.
  2. Again, doesn't matter. It became a game. People liked it. It got switched. Many people openly said they were leaving because of the changes.
  3. No one has been active on my account except me (that was a joke). Yes, for about three months. Because:

  1. I like the game. Sort of. Guess what? The game still has inklings of good things. I can see how it was good, before, and I can see where it went wrong. It's a cool game with nice people playing it. This is the first ever video game I've played, and I like the atmosphere of the PLAYERS.  I do not like many updates, including:

            1.1: Challenges

            1.2: The new missions

            1.3: MM

            1.4: Integration of servers

  2. Challenges are bad. There, I said it (mods will probably delete this now). It makes every battle a drug war with no teamwork, because everyone knows that if they get first, even on the losing team, they get more stars. So, what now happens is that:

2.1 Most players won't share overdrives,

2.2 They follow the flag-bearer in the hopes that he gets killed, so they can cap,

2.3 Players will block their teams' flag and prevent anyone coming to cap the enemy's flag, then when the flag-                          bearer is killed they cap it themselves.

2.4 @jaydevjaydev said it quite well, so I won't repeat him.

  3. The new missions are bad. I never experienced the old ones, so I would not be able to explain why. But this is one example of you not listening. Lots of people hated that update and left specifically because of it. Yet you didn't listen. So, whether you think it's doing decently or not, you are in essence scuttling the game.
  4. MM. What can I say?... this is like the worst update ever. From videos and comments, it seems that there was a "Battle!" button that did the EXACT SAME THING. But now I have to get 57K exp just to do parkour with myself. No, I can't do it with others, because they're all no-lifeing to get the challenge done. I am at a good, solid, 0 stars. It's simply not worth it. I only play PRO-battles and parkour, except for in between the challenges when it seems we are released from the maddening influence of stars. On the subject of MM:
  5. Game times. Why on earth is each battle 7 minutes??!?!?! I know, "so we can earn more stars." I'm sure we've all played some super enjoyable 15 or 30 minute battles, so why don't you want to recreate that in MM? Maybe you're thinking that the battles are uneven so you don't want to force tankers to play such long uneven battles. I somehow doubt you are capable of such rational thought, however. But still, it's madness. No, not the map. As a side note, battles should be divided based on efficiency score and GS. That makes it more fair.
  6. Integration of servers: ughh. Really. Now I have to play with the toxic Russians (what is it about Russians playing Tanki that makes them toxic?) and we can't communicate during battles. Oh wait, we can. At least, they can. They say "xaxaxax" or "izi" and I wish I didn't understand them. It's actually really annoying. Anyways, they're often the ones blocking me from capping the flag too, so, oh well. But still, if there's different servers it's more fun for all. Also, apparently there were certain servers that would always have specific battles, such as (I believe) RU1's Noise CTF. But now, with MM, there's something called a wait time. And with MM and other bad updates, there's something called Tanki in it's dying breaths. We have the antidote. Are you going to save Tanki in time? But back to Tanki in it's dying breaths. Now you can't separate servers because that would cause too much waiting time on MM. Is it only me that sees an obvious solution?
  7. Mods are abusing their powers. Seriously, PM me if you think they're not. Don't just say to be careful before I claim it, because I am. I posted above how you had committed an appeal to pity fallacy and that the reason you implement updates doesn't matter, because if they are bad and players leave because of them, then the playerbase (the only way to gauge a games' success) is clearly saying that the update is bad. So, you remove it, or they leave. WE DON"T CARE IF YOU RELEASE A BAD UPDATE. But if you get negative feedback prior to or after the release, then change it to suit what the players want. Because that's the way to reverse the the poison you have slowly injected over the years.

I am not going to continue this in public. If, Cedric, you would like to continue the discussion in the forum PM, then do so.

@Cedric Debono, I hereby challenge you to a battle of wits. If you decline by not sending me a PM before April 15, then I will hold you unarmed for such a battle.

Mods, don't delete this as a post. Take out some sentences if you want, but don't delete the whole thing or you will have proved my point about you abusing your power.

Oh and Cedric, don't use your classic excuse "I don't want to create a wall of text." Make that wall! Talk it out. If you can't, maybe you'd realize something is a problem here.

~HBTY

So, let me make something clear from the get-go. I don't need to "engage in a battle of wits" or prove that I'm right or wrong in this discussion.

This is a discussion. Your earlier post brought nothing to the table. This post does, and I appreciate that, so I'll pick up your points and make your argument to the devs.

That is my job.

My job is not to justify dev decisions to the death or prove you wrong. My job is to clarify the dev's position to players, and clarify the players' position to the dev.

And no, I'm not going to send you a PM. You've made your points. I will forward them.

My boss will forward these posts to Hazel as soon as he comes in today.

Oh great, Cedric I must say that your comments give the confidence that our thoughts are being heard, I am always confident in it and that any change that developers make in the game always goes with the goal of improving, but it's great to hear it of you and I love the approach you show with the community here in the forum, you look like a very good CM :)

I would just like to know something, with what level of detail do you make the reports you send to the developers? that is, if I write here that "matchmaking does not work, look for a solution because it does not meet the main objective that is to generate fair and balanced battles" does this simple comment count in your report?, that is, you report it as "X number of people complained about the matchmaking system in this post" or just the opposite, as it is a very simple comment or very few people said it or it has been said too much before and it is already widely known by the developers, you simply do not report it .

I would like you to explain a bit how it really works to understand what is the best way to express my comments, if perhaps I should make them detailed and with reasons to be taken into account, or be confident that although it is very simple is taken in account, or if I edit an image with a lot of elements and details explaining or arguing something, will that image be sent to Hazel's computer?, or you simply make an interpretation and send it in your own words, things like that, I guess you understand.

Well, finally I ask this because I literally love Tanki Online , it is my favorite game since always, and I understand that whenever Alternativa listens to us, we (the community) have the great power to influence the decisions and thus improve the product (Tanki), and of course I am happy to do it, like any other big fan of the game. ;) B)

You have many good points.  For me, seemingly like you, Tanki is no where near as much fun as it used to be since all the toxic updates implemented to accomiate the awful matchmaking mechanic.

But, is Tanki doomed to go down the drain?  I don't think it is even close.  In fact the horrible updates that have ruined this previously great game, probably make Tanki way more money.  I don't think there were anywhere near as many buyers a couple of years ago as there are now.

Look at when they put out a bundle offer...you can see how many they sell...and it is usually just paint!   They are selling thousands of these bundles...which have virtually no extra cost other than just normal overhead.  Now if they sell boat loads of these bundles which we can see numbers, how many crystal and other bundles are they selling?

I tend to play in the lower ranks now since higher rank game-play is thrashed and devoid of any fun what-so-ever.  In the lower ranks there are many many players that are sporting fully MUed kits...my guess is that tons of player are buying kits at low rank along with a crystal bundle to MU to the max.  This was very rare a couple of years ago....now there is an obvious buyer or two in almost every battle.

Yeah, Tanki has compromised the game and turned it into a mere shadow of what it once was, but from what little I can tell, it looks to me like they are making A LOT more money.  As much as I hate what they have dome to my once favorite game, I can't really blame them if they are in fact making more money...it's a business, not a service.

Good points overall. Can I point out two things? First, how rich do you have to be to buy PAINTS!?!? Like, I kind of get kits if gaming is what you're in to, but paints? ...

Second, I find it interesting that I, who was so against buying (and still don't like it) am about to make this account a huge buyers account, something to the tune of $400 without sales. Why? Because someone I know offered to buy me stuff, so... yeah.

Paints , i remember the days when there werent containers , let alone challenges to get paints . In those days there werent any moving paints also. So you did have the basic paint list and then there were a byuing paint list , roughly the same like it was now . In those days , most had a basic color ( green , black , white , orange ... ) till you made it to m1 level and when there was a sale you bought a paint like Forester , swamp , guerilla , which are priced at around 1000 to 5000 , and with sales price was bit cheaper . Many bought m1 kits which did have a paint inside . This paint you kept till you reached m2 lvl , where or you bought m2 kit , or have saved up a bit to have another paint in the same price or ittlebit more expensive , upto 10k . Many players did have same paint , and they started to become interesting at medium high m2 ( 1 to 3 yellow stars ) where you could save up for a more interesting paint , some reaching like 30k . You didnt have to be rich to get them , but it required a bit of planning .

In those days there were no drone to pay for , near 0 drugs , modules were together ( so you did buy 1 module and lived with it ) , and there were only a few alts .

Now you get paints by the dozens if you just play , and the variety of paints along the playfield is much much larger as it was . I cannot imagine now to buy a paint unless you are brandnew account and want to get rid of the basic green , buying a 10 crystal white / black ... All the others you get just by playing .
