This isn't my unpopular opinion, but rather the unpopular opinion of someone I've known for a few years. He's a member of the Flat Earth Society. Yes, there is a rather large group of people who believe that the Earth is flat. This isn't a game to them, they actually believe it. He's a heck of a nice guy, a little weird at times but, then, who isn't? 

 

This is the belief of the Society and thus of his. Having people believe the Earth is round is just one big conspiracy. All of the pictures NASA has taken of Earth from space, showing a round ball, are photoshopped. He said that there is no way anyone can make him believe we live inside a big ball. He's heard all the arguments about we live on the surface of the ball, not inside it and it's gravity that keeps us from spinning off into space. He said if that's true, then if we stood at the South Pole, we would be standing upside down and at the Equator we would be standing sideways. 

 

To prove his point, he got a ball and one of his little brother's toy soldiers and demonstrated as we were discussing this phenomenon. He is so well indoctrinated in the beliefs of the Society and so convincing, he almost had me believing he was right.
