Why you should accept the fact that this game is dead and move on

I've kind of lost interest, too.

~Not enough maps on MM

~Very little team effort

~Time is too short

~Big emphasis on stars without the mechanics to achieve them in a timely manner

~No communications between teammates (grey mammoth. flag behind you. grab it.)

~Crazy challenges like Top 3 x 15 with the inability to change it. For some combos, that's difficult to achieve.

These are some of the reasons I'm losing interest and have gravitated towards more interesting games. It's obvious many updates that don't make it to the test server aren't pretested to see how logical the update is. What looks good on paper doesn't always turn out good on the finished product.

Nice video.

Quit whining.

YTers don't make a game.  Players make a game.

Noise always sucked if you were blue.

Magnum is easy to beat when you get in close.

I do miss Esplanade...  snipers paradise and all the crappy little firebird sprayer and prayers actually had to work for a kill.

And my alt-acct is a Legend 4, so do know of what I speak.

I agree - this one needs to go away.

and it was all good until the big update in July 2016 came along - I mean, paints lost their purporse?!!?

Not cool, TO devs!

but they're making up for it by releasing new stuff e.g challenges (they were suggested by RIDDLER_8, not the TO devs/staff)

Magnum can easily get defeated. u just need a light hull or hunter. u also need freeze.

1. get behind the tank and start firing

2. when it turns around, so do u. keep going towards the back.

3. it should die within 9 seconds.

4. Repeat steps 1-3

Also, with premium, i was able to play old maps, INCLUDING island, so u just need 100 dollars/pounds/euros whatever. that's all it takes to play new maps. the only disadvantage is that it's a PRO battle feature, so u will need to be WO1 or any rank + premium account.

Magnum might be easy to beat in close range, true, but the idea of a turret like that defies TO's game design.

Remember when shaft had no laser? The main reason that the laser was added was to make the battle more dynamic, it made shaft players actually move and not sit on one place like a rock. Sure, shaft players complained for a while but now nobody is complaining about shaft.

Magnum is similar, you can sit from one spot and deal damage across the map, and in this case you don't even need line of sight.

Players who say "Tanki is dead" haven't played a dead game.

Years ago, I played a tank game that was a lot of fun. All battles were 1v1. There were 3 skirmishes in each battle, but only one map. You could challenge another player from the lobby (no lobby chat) by clicking on a players name and a picture of the player's tank would show up with a challenge button. Players were separated by rank. A lower rank could challenge a higher rank, but a higher rank couldn't challenge a lower rank. You could chat during the battles. It was very popular and had a big player base.

The owner lost interest in the game (for whatever reason) and didn't do any more server updates. The game began to lag and the lag got worse to the point that many times, through the battle, your tank just stopped. That's when players started leaving. To resolve the lag problem, the Dev, without notification, changed the challenges to peer-to-peer only. Which meant you could only challenge someone with the same IP address. I live alone, so I could no longer challenge anyone.

The last time I visited the game, the player base had dropped from around 8,000 players (when I first started playing) down to 10 players. The game was sold, reworked and went public again. I played the new version, but it wasn't the same game at all. I even had to check to make sure I had click on the right game.

Now, that's a dead game. Tanki is nowhere near being dead.

If you are saying Tanki isn't dead then you clearly haven't experienced TO in its prime.

I left playing tanki 1 and half years ago so i don't think i have a say in complaining against the new updates. But yes, with the goldbox point, i totally agree.  A Goldbox used to be just  a not container of crystals, but an emotion. But now it's  just a container of crystals

  • Madness DM (Old one, with the floor, tons of laughs while falling and landing on that pillar Gold Box)

A little piece of me died when they removed the floor. I remember catching my first gold box there. I used to play so much on that map, I can remember all the phases, from getting destroyed in my Rail M0 to sniping with Shaft M0 to playing with Vulcan and Mammoth from M0 to M2... then they removed the floor. Does anyone know why the devs dont want to add it back? Actually, Im not sure that this complaint is in the list in Complain Book. Ill check later...

Yes, I agree. I also like the new update but for goldboxes it has been ruined. *siren* "OMG GOLD - OMG IT'S BLACKBOX" enemy with twins + viking uses doubledamage, uses overdrive and sprayssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss to the enemies. I am not sure if this has happened yet, but it seems possible.

This may be irrelevent but this is my thought.

I have to agree pretty much with the original post. The game has truly stagnated and most of the core players are leaving or have left. It really shows the lack of imagination on the part of Pony Tail Boy and the Devs that they are not doing anything truly original to save the game, but are lifting every money grubbing idea from other games to keep the paychecks coming in. Like I mentioned in other posts, what made Tanki so much fun was it's simplicity and dynamic game play. Pony Tail Boy and the rest of the Dev's have destroyed that by making things so complicated that it has taken all the fun from the game and then called it innovative. Oh, I'm sure the game will hold out for a few more paychecks for them, but with the last of the old core players leaving, all that will be left is a mediocre shell of it's former self, played for a short time by players passing through looking for a fun tank game and being disappointed. Those people won't hang around long and Tanki will eventually fade away. It will go out with a whimper with Pony Tail Boy and the Dev's wondering why it went bust and pointing their fingers at anything and everything but themselves as to the reason it died. I wholeheartedly agree, it's time to move on, and I have. Hopefully someone else will pick up the original idea of Tanki and start it anew. That's the only way any tank game like Tanki will return it to it's original glory.

I really miss the time when you could set up your own maps. And why do we only get the same maps over and over again now? Why don't they use more maps in the rotation?

People loved Skyscraper back in the days. I liked Gubakha. Why don't we get Kolhoz anymore? Or Canyon, Cross, Dusseldorf? Or Madness?

When MM was in the planning stage, Devs decided teams of 10x10 would get the most amount of players in a battle, thus reducing waiting time. They programmed in only the maps that they felt could hold that many players at one time. To increase number of maps, they have taken some of the smaller maps, made them larger by increasing the team bases like, for instance Sandal.

Canyon and Cross are too small. Someone suggested Dusseldorf. The answer given was the map isn't as big as it seems. The buildings makes the map look big, but the actual battlefield is small, too small for 20 players. Madness was okay until they took out the bottom floor. Now the playing field is too small.

Personally, I think they would have done better by adding more maps of 5x5 rather than fewer maps of 10x10.

I honestly think bobruisk is too small and should be replaced by deathtrack.

Also I think sandbox could either use an extension or a bit more editing.

Or Island? Or Noise? Or even MONTE CARLO?!!? It's big enough for ASL, but I guess not big enough for RGB or JGR. Noise is big enough for ASL, but the blue team base being UP ON the hill.

People also loved Hill. And Arena. I still like playing on Combe.

P.S the game is far from being dead, but it is boring, has been since 2016 (when paints PERMANENTLY lost their purporse. Why change paints' prices to a higher price (compared to paints' prices prior to that STUPID ******* update!!

Does anyone know why that map madness was changed? I dont think Ive ever gotten a real answer

I remember them mentioning it in a V-Log but I checked and I didn't hear any messages about it.

I had to go to the Russian Wiki to see if there was any trivia (because of course the EN Wiki didn't have any  :)) and it said that they did it so that dropping down from different elevations wouldn't result in a long flight (all the way to the bottom instead of on a lower platform) possibly landing upside down. The creator of the map agreed to the change as well.

I think I remember something like that. I think it was a bad move. What I think they should've done was narrow the gap between the top half and the bottom half.

They also mentioned the holes in the floor. Players were dropping down and ending up in one of the holes. That's what stuck in my mind. I thought, "All they have to do is plug the holes." But, you're right, there were other reasons.

I've mentioned it about 10 times but no one ever replied to me.

Anyway skyscrapers is quite active on pro battles (around my rank). There is a core of players who play on that map everyday.

Since Skyscrapers is on several levels and the ramps go around buildings, I think it could handle 10x10 MM battle.

Definitely would be a good map for MM. Should definitely replace sandal.

game has turned from a pick up and play action shooter to a MMORPG-type grindfest. the battle time reduced to practically nothing just so people could grind faster, at the cost of actual gameplay. any sort of strategy or teamwork is gone with the recent reworks. a casual player cannot compete with a player who plays 24/7, due to the way the game favors the players who grind nowaday.

and by MMORPG, i dont mean a good MMORPG. i am talking about the really ****ty, cookie cutter MMORPG's that are usually found on mobile
