Overdrives are here!

Mammoth has ruined 20X.

Now the solution is not to nerf Mammoth because it could become weaker in other situations.

I think the best solution for now would be to stop the 20X and instead give us 2X battle rewards or Premium.

Well...yeah. I had a good couple of instances where I'd be driving towards one or more of the enemies, they'd see me, start driving away faster than me while looking at me and I'm there like:

 Joke.jpg

Medium hulls outrun me. Titans can't outrun them but if they are a good distance apart, the Titan's slightly slower speed would not be considerable enough for the Mammoth to catch up quickly before the Overdrive ends.

If tanks are completely unable to affect you during that (10 seconds?) time then at the very least they need to be able to run away.

It's not like the mammoth can't equip a turret that can "reach out and touch someone".

The   invulnerability + instant death + faster move    is just a little too much.

Yeah, it can still use mid-long range turrets.

Hunter can stun it for 4 seconds which gives runners plenty of time to make a getaway if it was getting too close to them.

And yet Hunter's EMP does not remove Mammoth's OD....   Which is odd - since that's really it's only benefit.

Wonder if it at least re-sets the mammoth cool-downs on supplies.

Yeah, someone named @Groonter told me. He said it still stunned them. I confirmed this when I was going towards the gold marker. I had activated my Overdrive and a Hunter that was nearby activated his and it stunned me but the Mammoth's effect was still there.

In the Test Server, that wasn't the case.

Yeah, it removes supplies and activates its cooldowns as well.

Holy words!

Thank you

DING DING DING.....the OLD ODs enabled you to act as a team or at least a nice person and try and save a teammate.  You might as well make these all Deathmatches -- I haven't tried that yet....it will probably be painfully chaotic.

If your goal was to make Tanki more fun --> fail

Exactly my feelings. I loved making new friends by working together and sharing the overdrives. Now that is scrapped and now ODs are purely selfish.

I am 100% convinced that these new ODs are just a way to bring in more cash.  Tanki does not want you to have free OD supplies...they sell supplies and want you to buy.

The original ODs and the choke supplies in all those containers we used to get got us hooked on using supplies...a summer or so ago there was even 3X rewards with massive amounts of supplies.  They changed the way we play Tanki.  Previously you were slammed if you popped a repair kit, "drugger noob" was bounced about a lot.  Now it is the norm.  Drug wars were in the high ranks and the lower ranks almost never saw a drug war, just an occasional buyer drugger.  Now drug wars are the norm...everyone drugs all the time.  Tanki changed the way we play by giving us free drugs, now they are cutting our supply so we have to buy the drugs to support our "habit" or the way we now play.

Tanki continues to rein in on the freebie supplies...fewer containers and now no all-supply-ODs in EVERY single battle.  The amount of supplies we use from our own stores is going to go up dramatically so their sales of supply kits will skyrocket very soon.  I would guess that crystal packs are the major cash cow for Tanki, but after these new ODs, I bet supply kits will be a close second.

Totally agree. Nowadays if you don't use supplies, you will lose.

@all: Thank you for your thoughts

It was already pay-to-win, overdrives didn't change much - they are free anyway

Question: If I'm playing as a hornet and I use overdrive and get destroyed, will my teammates are still in overdrive effect which I used?

Sry for grammar mistakes

It is ok. :)

When your Hornet dies, the effect is lost for your entire team. It is vital that the Hornet stays alive when it's using its Overdrive.

Can anyone comment on the speed at which overdrives charge? I've heard that they charge at different rates. If this is true, then Hunter seems like a direct counter to viking since it charges faster. Basically, Viking's OD is very powerful, but a few hunters on a team will make viking much less so.

Nah, I didn't care much for the gold box. I just really enjoyed the visual effect and it made me laugh hard when I saw that. You do have a point, since it's true that most players will react positively to an update if it benefits them in particular (even if it's bad for others), but in this case you'll find that the update is getting a lot more positive feedback than usual. Most players are saying that the update works very well and is actually quite balanced.

?  ?   ? ...Where are all these players that are saying they like the update?  Are we reading the same forum?  95% of what I read is negative.  Chat is packed with hate for the update.

You must be talking about mods and Tanki lackeys that like the update (or at least feel obliged to say they like it).

I've covered this on the Let's Discuss Overdrives thread here.

I think he means compared to previous updates. For example: Approx 99% hated the RK update, and now this update approx 95%, that's an improvement.

Don't say the glass is 95% empty, say that it's 5% full. Be positive okay.

How To Catch A Cosmonautics Day Gold Box

A comprehensive guide

Catching a gold box that is hurtling towards the ground as a meteor and will destroy anything near the drop zone seems like a hard task. Right? Not a problem if you have the Mammoth's overdrive. With this outstandingly overpowered overdrive, you can stand right in the drop zone of that meteor and take the gold box without a scratch. Below are the steps to make sure you steal that gold box from the players that do it the right way.

1. Equip Mammoth via the Garage interface

2. Get your overdrive ready and under no circumstance use it to help your team in any way

3. When the gold box siren arrives, drive over to the drop zone

4. Press shift and activate your overdrive1

5. Stay right in the path of the meteor2

6. Watch as the notification pops up on the screen that you caught the gold box

7. Repeat steps 2-6 and you can catch hundreds of gold boxes

1The active time is plenty to encompass the entire drop time

2You will survive a direct meteor hit with your overdrive active

And there you have it, a simple and easy way to steal the gold box from all the players who actually try to catch the gold box fairly3.

3Obviously they are the dumb ones for not abusing the overpowered-as-all-heck overdrive of mammoth, right?

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed this unbiased guide.

Have a nice week of stealing gold boxes.

for hornet OD

in small maps there is no use to see other players when you can see them up close and personal.

for  large maps not many players go camping now a days, so this OD is useless again

remove it and give us something more worthy to have.

like others have said weaken the dome for Mammoths

Hornet can also ignore enemies protections whether it be module or supply.

Titan has the dome OD, but I agree, it's too much for an area that large.

It isn't. I had two instances where my Overdrive ran out 2 seconds before the meteorite impacted. I'd recommend waiting until 13 seconds after the siren sounds to activate it. Don't activate it too early.

They aren't dumb. They just don't cheese it or value the gold boxes so much as to cheese their way to catching the golds.

You can also speed hack like a lot of the players already do. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Most players are saying that the update works very well and is actually quite balanced.

What world are you living in? The "I've been bribed by the Tanki Online developers to give only positive feedback" world?

I tallied up the negative vs positive comments on the first 6 pages, doing my best to filter out multiple posts by a single person and unrelated posts.

There are almost double the amount of comments against the update as there are comments for the update on those first six pages!

And worst yet, there is no chance Tanki will listen to those comments that are against the update because it increases the desire of people to buy.

By the time you drive over, there is a good chance the meteor will have already appeared. If you read my word choice, i chose it very carefully. "Drop time". So while the meteor is in the air.

They aren't dumb. They just don't cheese it or value the gold boxes so much as to cheese their way to catching the golds.

That's your opinion. Feel free to stick with it.
