Overdrives are here!

My average number of kills per battle (with Hunter / Smoky) has gone right down without the old OD. I rarely get more than 10.

 

The 1-on-1 kills are very satisfying, especially when someone on full drugs attacks you and you turn the tables on them (and zapping Mammoths), but I miss going beserk with the old OD and getting those kill streaks.

Sorry for being negative.but I have tried these new overdrives for the last 3 days and quite frankly I have moved from being baffled, bewildered and confused to feeling like I'm playing in a circus. I have never been a strong player but quite frankly I am not enjoying being totally frustrated. I have played this game on and off  for several years and used several accounts but I'm not impressed with the latest 'enhancements' . And I can't even get near a gold box! I have found that I have had to use far more supplies than normal - just to stay in the game.

Please don't bother to TROLL this post, I am packing it in, good luck guys   :angry:  :angry:  :angry:

  Against Invulnerable Mammoths that everyone's calling OP, Wasp can drop an N-2 bomb and eliminate them. 

 

Mammoth on OD can be a surprising distance away in 4 seconds.

 

You actually don't know how slow these Mammoths are. 

You actually don't know how fast these Mammoths can move on OD.  How else do you think they are getting all the golds?

Well... You're not wrong. Tanki was always an arcade game, and it was always had a futuristic dystopian theme. And it is indeed online.

it was a little bit realistic untill now.. this overdrives ruin the game

see if you remember in the past we did have a indicator above our tanks to see the others items there using for protection / also  locations . basically. so all they did was add it to one hull for in game use. not sure if the indicator button is still activated in our accounts

 

so in my books this is a useless addition to the hornet.

 

new issues just starting up is mammoths sitting on bases with domes activated .

How is ignoring protections useless?

 

I put my Vulcan on a hornet to try it in a CP battle.  Managed to get a lot of kills - especially when enemy grouped together.

I'm afraid that they will overdo a nerf on mammoth if they do one... 

 

It was barely used before the OD because it was slower than titan..

But with the exception of some Legends and some buyers, we don't have all Hulls at our disposal, so many of us can't do the countering that you talk about.

 

Right now we can play while the Mammoths are camping for golds, but after the 20X Mammoths and Hackers we'll go back to Groups vs Noobs. There's no balance and the chaotic ODs will not help..

On the topic of counterplay, I didn't necessarily mean that all of us HAVE to have all or multiple hulls at our disposal.  I mean, I have M4 Viking and M4 Hornet, and I'm finding success thanks to Hornet's OD and my teammates with different hulls (especially Titan and Wasp) being somewhat cooperative. 

 

Edit: Even so, I get what you mean.  My success was predicated on having teammates that had some idea of what they were doing with their Overdrives (and confused opposing teams).  Once everyone gets settled with the Overdrives, we'll definitely see more Groups vs Randoms battles occur.

Not to mention there's the cruel MM system to worry about since the system likes to cobble together variably balanced and horribly mismatched teams and feed into the plague of battle imbalance.

Unless Tanki gets the "bright" idea of nerfing Mammoth's Overdrive, it seems that Tanki has made Mammoth THE Boss Hull once again, likely as an homage to Mammoth's former greatness as the Bulkiest Hull out there before the devs made Mammoth play second fiddle to Titan.  It'd be interesting to see Tanki revert some of its updates (mostly Alterations and Drones for me) while keeping the plethora or new paints.  Given the devs' track record, however, that is merely a pipe dream.

This might not be the correct place to write this.

 

While in MM battle and go into my garage I've been getting "re-enter game messages" at the same time I am hearing a countdown timer. I do not know what is being counted down (Wasp bomb, Hornet's radar, other). Just mentioning it here in case timer and re-enter game message are related.

I spent 4 hours playing with Mammoth yesterday. Maybe it's a lot different and more balanced at M3 and lower, but with M4 getting golds and capping flags/balls has never been easier. It's insane!

everyone thinks mammoth is so goo dbecause it is taking all the golds. but golds are not the objective of the game so balance changes should not be based on the intrests of gold diggers.

 

as for capping, it might be easy to cap a flag or ball with mammoth now as compared to before, but light and medium hulls are still better than it. also, in assault, you might be able to cap 1 flag with mammoth od, but if you plant theforce field generator at the enemy point your whole team can easily cap 10 flags for the duration the generator stays there

Ok, games need to adapt, fine. But now you're adding a feature to hornet that will show all the enemies' status bars to the whole team. Making it even harder for one to hide, or to sneak up on the other team. This doesn't sound good at all, you've been diminishing this element of the game for awhile now. Those little numbers that tell you how much damage you're dealing to your target give away tanks hiding in trees. You changed so many maps in ways that eliminate hiding places. And now this. Maybe you think the game would be better if less people hid or snuck up on the enemy's base but I think those things made the game far more interesting. It's like you're constantly dumbing down the game, making strategy increasingly irrelevant.

For all those saying that it is hard to catch a meteor gold by using overdrive... In a battle where 5 golds dropped, every single one was caught by mammoths using their overdrive.

 

Mammoth's OD is OP.

Let me just answer this with the words of someone who likes the update and supports it.
 
In the words of Maf:

Anything that can be activated every 2 1/2 minutes or so that makes you invulnerable, even while carrying a flag or ball, for 10 seconds affects the game balance negatively. That is a fact.

 

 

Edit: And mind you, the two and one half is without any kills or earning points.

Exactly, and it also depends on the map as well. In medium and large maps, it wouldn't be much help. In small maps, it can flourish.

It takes 2 minutes and 5 seconds to recharge without earning points.

My bad.  Must have seen a Mammoth being killed by a Wasp bomb immediately after the Mammoth lost its Invulnerable state.  Unless the devs make changes to the new Overdrives, Mammoth will be enjoying every second in the limelight as recompense for being the "inferior" (i.e. slower) Heavy Hull to Titan.
