So I've been playing in TDM (yes, actual TDM) and taking in the new Overdrives.  So far, it's been fine.  Standard Tanki fine.  Barring a couple of battles with clearly mismatched teams, I've enjoyed success with Hornet's Overdrive, which really rewards you for being agile and hitting your shots.  I'm really loving how Hornet's Overdrive boosts my Damage output and makes Hornet more viable than before.

 

Of course, Vikings are gonna be really annoying to fight from now on seeing as the stupidly rapid fire effect will allow, say, Hammers, Strikers, Thunders, and Magnums to wipe out multiple enemies in an instant.  Time will only tell what the long term effects of Viking's OD will be (I'd imagine there'll be many calling it OP and threatening to quit Tanki).

 

Fortunately, Titan's Overdrive is there to help stabilize teams, not only healing teammates but also significantly reducing the damage from oncoming enemy fire. 

 

With all that said, I haven't played the other modes yet, so I can't say much about them as of writing this.  For all I know, maybe TDM battles will turn into trash once the devoted players have fully settled in with the update.  Maybe not.  Perhaps the devs will make another bone-headed move and "rUiN tAnKi aGaiN".  Can't wait to join the reaction bandwagon, lol!

Time to dominate Highway DM/JGR with my Hornet-Shaft LOL!

Has gotten boring real fast.  Battles are just a mess now.   ODs refresh too quickly.  That is ALL the battles are about now.

I always target a Viking with OD.

 

Look above, @FrozenRailgun :D. Please do it, for all of us.

 

Ikr. I can have several EMPs in one battle. Sometimes, if I spawn kill long enough, I can play Red assault and have an OD for my Hunter every time I attack... very effective. Oh, I also love disabling Wasp's bomb. Makes them mad. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to stop a Mammoth.

omg everyone is absolutely shredding apart mammoth in this forum, look, think about how underrated and underpowered mammoth has always been in tanki... finally...finally after like literally 10 years of being either overshadowed by titan or getting the short end of the stick by hull balance updates, its finally been brought back to life thanks to overdrives.

 

as a mammoth main, I just hope developers take their time before they nerf it, since the community is absolutely demanding it right now. Just give me like a solid month or two to actually know what its like to be genuinely feared.

Like @ZloyDanuJI said, people are complaining about it because it catches golds but that's not the only aspect of the game. You're going to see far less Mammoth users after these celebrations are over. If it stays the way it is, it'll only flourish when there are increased drop rates but besides that, it's a mediocre Overdrive. 

 

I perfectly understand their frustration. Not being able to do anything while it just sits there and takes the gold you could have taken by being faster than everyone else. 

 

I see so many M2/3 people using M1 Mammoths with their turret of all ranges. I saw a few Mammoth Isidas for god's sake. ANd no, they weren't from the Buffalo Kit because they all had M0 Mammoths.

The complainers are just butt hurt because they only play to hunt gold boxes, nothing else.

 

Besides gold boxes are only 1000 crystals, may be a lot in low ranks but up here it's only a handful.

I caught some Golds with Mammoth and a few with Titan.

 

I think the way forward is to have accounts with different equipments, because I think Tanki will be doing a lot of hull balancing and hull "balancing" now.

 

Titans in a Group will be VOP, while in the Noob team not so much.

 

Wasps in the dominating team will be VA, while in the weak team...

 

Tomorrow is a new day, no gold distractions... I think I'll play PRO Battles, some parkour with the new ODs. I don't hate the ODs, saying 100 in Parkour and killing eachother is entertaining.

It is obvious that there are mixed feelings regarding overdrive. This issue can be easily fixed by allowing "us, the gamer" to adjust this feature when making a map. All the dev would need to do is make a "SUPER OD" and "STANDARD OD". For those who like drugs and "SUPER OD" it's a check in the box away. For those who like the standard "OD" same apply's. Happy gamers make busy servers.

Make Mammoth destroyable by the meteorite gold

 

I'm sure you've all noticed by now, it's making people really tossed off and it's a huge problem: All you need to do to guarantee you getting the gold box is equip mammoth, activate OD at the right time and just sit on the drop zone. This is not okay. Anyways, the title says it all, it really has to happen.

Not only meteorites can't destroy Mammoth but also Hunter's OD can't even disable Mammoth's OD which works for anything and everything else, whether it is disabling Hunter's bomb, other players supplies or even their ODs except the Mammoth one. Mammoth is invisible the way it is now. Hopefully, once the developers get enough data from it and they balance things out, let's hope this one gets sorted too. But then again, we just have to remember that the OD have just been released so it is a matter of time till things get balanced well so I'm looking forward to it. Two  things would make Mammoth a balanced hull to use same as any other one. 

  1. Meteorites kill anyone and everyone regardless of their hull, OD or anything else which means every single tanker have 100% equal chance of getting the golds for those who like taking them.
  2. Hunter's OD disables Mammoth's OD same as it does with all other OD.

what the heck? that is actually disgusting, i have opened I DONT KNOW HOW MANY i have opened... and the best thing have got is a shot effect...

I only had the two containers for 20 missions.  If it's any consolation, the first one I opened was only mines  :)

The hunter's overdrive only stopped an overdrived mammoth from moving. It DID'NT stop his over

yep thats supposed to happen, nothing special and that is definitely not a bug  <_<

1. i agree with this but meteorites are rare events so..

 

2. that would make hunter super op and hunters are actually party spoilers they can disable titan doom , wasp bomb and

Freeze almost everyone cancelling there od, hunter is actually op as is on the other hand mammoth is super slow we shouldn't mind There od since these guys get a real hard time moving around any map i am a titan user i don't mind mammoth OD , hunter od is what i Don't like.

 

Alright, that's a solid point. I just estimated it based on what I saw. Still, considering the massive scale of this update and how much it changes gameplay, the end result is pretty good. All they need to do now is nerf Mammoth's OD, or at least make Hunter stop it.

and Make Hunter super op in the process ?! no thanks

Long time player of nearly 5 years is done.  This new overdrive thing is absolutely ridiculous, taking all of the fun and strategy out of playing this game.  

 

Obviously, the developers are too stupid to know when to leave well enough alone.  If it isn't broke, don't fix it.  

 

I remember the days when you actually had to plan and execute without stupid gimmicks to bail out those who are clueless about such things.  THAT is what made the game fun.  It isn't fun anymore.

 

Off to find another tank game that embraces what this game USED to be.

I wonder if this Mammoth thing is a intentional bug/glitch to stock up Mammoth sales... Haha, just imagine how many people bought Mammoth due to its current OPness. That's some clever marketing right there.

well it did make "someone" who preferred wasp and hornet to take up vik more as i see.. pretty much a proof of concept  ;)

hunter is actually op as is

I'm really enjoying the annoyance factor of Hunter's overdrive. Getting so much revenge on Freeze and Fire druggers.

 

Oh look, there's three mammoths going for a gold box, I'm going to immobilize them all and let a not-mammoth (but not me) get it <evil laugh>

 

And all of the others are quite fun (I like Wasp's bomb, even though I haven't been killed by one yet), but I think they should have been an addition instead of a replacement for the existing one.

everyone thinks mammoth is so goo dbecause it is taking all the golds. but golds are not the objective of the game so balance changes should not be based on the intrests of gold diggers.

 

as for capping, it might be easy to cap a flag or ball with mammoth now as compared to before, but light and medium hulls are still better than it. also, in assault, you might be able to cap 1 flag with mammoth od, but if you plant theforce field generator at the enemy point your whole team can easily cap 10 flags for the duration the generator stays there

10 flags is a stretch, since the field only lasts about 20 seconds. But I'm telling you - in CTF a couple flags are often enough to win. A single mammoth that uses two overdrives in one game can quite easily capture those two flags, especially if they have an Isida and other teammates helping. Scoring goals in Rugby is ridiculously easy, stealing flags in CTF will be a bit more challenging. But it's still way too OP compared to the other overdrives.
