Tweaks to Overdrives, Turrets, and Drones

Vikings OD is only useful in team battles if it ends up in a team that does the spawn killing. Other than that, I'd be lucky if I can get 3 kills in 7 seconds. And that's just with thunder. Smoky with Viking OD is scary in terms of reload. Viking OD railgun seems to reload as fast as Viking OD thunder if not faster.

 

 

Btw, I've noticed that most if not all the strikers has disappeared from my battles after over drives were released, any explanation there?

I still met a lot of Strikers in the last few days.  They were as good as Thunder when with Vikings.

The battles should not be just about getting OD to 100% and using it.

Oh, I've never tried Striker. How is it as a turret ? :P

I still met a lot of Strikers in the last few days.  They were as good as Thunder when with Vikings.

 

 

Well, I guess it's just me being ignorant. But I could've swore I haven't seen a striker since. :huh:

 

 

Oh, I've never tried Striker. How is it as a turret ? :P

 

Pretty good if micro upgraded a bit. Same with thunder. And railgun.

I'll admit that I feel sorry for the melee-ranged turrets when they pop an Overdrive against me. It honestly feels as if it's a minimal damage boost they get. Firebird use to kill me in one or two ticks but not it takes about 4-6 ticks. 

 

Railguns still do a lot of damage, especially with the Electromagnetic Accelerator "Scout" alteration. I've been seeing so many of those these days and they are almost always paired with Viking. 

 

Thunders still do a lot of damage and to multiple enemies as well and I see less teamwipes from them than Railgun. 

 

I see a good bit with Hammer and Ricochet, not really much with Twins (they usually get about 3 kills before the Overdrive finishes).

 

I went up against one using Vulcan and I was able to get away pretty quickly so he/she practically wasted that Overdrive. 

 

 

And for Shaft, an M1 Shaft (with probably minimal upgrades) needed 4 shots to kill my M1 Mammoth that had 2,888 health.

When Hornets pop their Overdrives and slap us, they do it one by one. By the time the 2nd or 3rd ally dies, the first ally to die would respawn already. 

 

The Vikings take all of the players out right before their Overdrive ends (usually using a Railgun or Thunder).

I can't destroy with OD if a player have 45+ protection. What tiny hornet do? Recharge so damn fast, stay for long time. Ignores your protections. Can hide in tiny holes.. blah blah...

You can defend against viking OD using titan but not possible against hornet. Just see my post in Let's discuss hornet. I one shotted several titans under their domes several times in Desert CP.

But what are the odds of Titan having its Overdrive at the same moment as Viking? Titan's Overdrive does charge faster than Viking's, especially after the tweak to it. Viking does counter Titan's dome but not even as close to how Hornet can do it. Hornet, Hunter and Mammoth are direct counters to tanks under Titan's Dome. Viking is a counter but not a reliable one as it has to use up its entire Overdrive just to kill them or severely weaken them which would require it to be in the line of sight of all the players under the dome.

 

Severely weakening them is also a great thing since players would want to flock to the dome for protection and maybe some healing. Players would want to be in the dome for healing as well when they get damaged. They'll stay in it as long as possible if they have to. If they see their HP going down at a relatively moderate speed while being under the dome, they'd know that being outside the dome would make them die immediately so they stay there until the dome disappears which give the Viking's allies easy kills as they're low health or damaged. Team battles are about teamwork after all.

 

I'm not sure if you were using Large Calibre Rounds but that would make sense considering for M4 Railgun, it seems to do at least 3,000 on average. That would be enough to kill a Titan that's at 3/4 health if it's M4. With M4 Railgun, you're able to do that every 4.58 seconds. 

The fact of the matter is that you killed them one-by-one. You may have gotten a double kill on one of the shots but by the time you kill another player, the one or two enemies you killed with your last shot already be materialising or about to materialise. Vikings kill many enemies right after the other <- That is what I'm saying.

I'm still unclear on the secifics of Viking OD effects - the WIKI is somewhat vague.

 

Do all turrets get a damage boost similar to DD?  Even projectile/reload turrets?

trying to figure how freeze benefits from the OD as much as say... Thunder...

 

How much is this damage boost?

I have an account that plays with Legends regularly. I don't see it happen as much as the ranks of this account but I still see it. Viking's Overdrive is still viable.

I can only say something close for Shaft. My Mammoth had 2,888 health. Note that the Shaft did not have double damage activated. After the 3rd shot, I had about what looked like 10% of my HP left. So let's say the M1 Shaft did 2,600 damage with those 3 shots in total. That's 867 damage per shot. M1 Shaft does 447 damage for an arcade shot on average. Multiply that by 2 and you get 894.

 

867 and 894 are close. For all I know, those three shots from that Shaft may have had damage on the higher end of the damage range so I used the average damage. So it does seem like a 2x increase.

 

I remember seeing a Electromagnetic Accelerator "Scout" Railgun shoot my M2 Viking teammate once and it took off what looked like 92% of his/her health from one shot. The person was probably using M2 Railgun with it; maybe even an M3.

I have an account that plays with Legends regularly. I don't see it happen as much as the ranks of this account but I still see it. Viking's Overdrive is still viable.

 

Ok you're right. Viking's OD is most dangerous, OP, powerful, destructive amoung all.

You make it sound like it's easy to get > 3 kills in 7 seconds with Viking OD.

 

More than 3 kills would not be easy unless 4 or more tanks were clustered around each other - like a CP point.

You have to shift aim and have LOS all within 7 seconds.

 

On a small map like sandbox maybe.  On Kunger or Solimansk or Alex?  Not so much...

 

FYI - firebirds were killing tanks in 3 seconds before the ODs came out.  Same with Isida.

Some players I've encountered use the Overdrive for a little bit of prolonged life. The others use it when 3 or more of my teammates would be packed together. I regularly see Thunders and Railguns teamwiping.

If the recent ones, then they could either be the same power or more. Since we concluded that the damage increase seems to be a double in the damage of the turret, that means it's basically a double damage supply. If they use the turret by itself with no supplies activated and then they activated the Overdrive, it would seem as if it has double damage activated but it doesn't. But if they had double damage activated, then it adds even more damage to the damage you're already doing which would make it do more damage than before the recent ones came out.

Viking OD having bonus damage for "re-load" weapons is odd.  Should have just been >> fire-rate and for longer than 7 seconds.

DPS turrets should get the damage bonus since they have no fire-rate to increase.

The melee-ranged turrets should get a higher damage boost to be honest. Ranged turrets seem to be better than melee-ranged turrets with Viking's Overdrive.
