Why?

because it is OP enough.  Ridiculous impact and never-ending shooting.  Gets more out of DD and many of the ODs than other turrets.

What exactly do you think is weak about twins?

For a start, it only gets an OD now twice a 6m game while everyone else gets three.

Second, seven seconds of shooting is wasted once you've killed the nearest target and there's no one else nearby to shoot at.

I wish it was changed so that we get 7 seconds of OD, but can use it in bursts that all together total the 7 seconds.

My response was to TWINS needing a buff.

So was mine.

How does TWINS only get an OD 2x per game?   ODs are for hulls, not turrets.

TWINS on Viking only gets 2 ODs per battle.  But that's the same for every turret.  Don't see how your post applies to twins.

Twins is very powerful on its own. That impact force really messes me up and I can't have shoot them for crud. People regularly use Stable Plasma which increases that impact force by 10% for each bullet.

The damage on each ball is high enough and it shoots every 0.35 seconds at least.

The % splash damage retained is 90% for more than half of its range. That's pretty impressive but everyone uses Stable Plasma anyways.

There are many protections against it. It's common, easy-to-use and high-rewarding if they enemy doesn't have protection against you.

I don't think it should get a buff to be honest. Twins with Viking's Overdrive already shoots so many bullets. You are right @Nicola_M about having to find another enemy when the first one is destroyed. If that enemy was behind the person destroyed, you'd have to wait for that tank to dematerialise and then it would impact the player. Perhaps it would gain more kills if it were a Stock Twins and not a Stable Plasma Twins. Alterations have a big impact on Viking's Overdrive.

Twins is not alone on this... Ricco, Smoky, Isida, Vulcan... all turrets without area of affect suffer from this.

Try using the overdrive when tanks are aligned next to each other, and not behind each other, that way you can still spread the damage of the shots onto as many enemies as you can while it lasts. Also avoid activating it when there's only one tank near you, save it for tougher situations.

It's a new turret that's planned, apparently.

We already have that - it's called a RAIL gun.  Both use electromagnetic force to accelerate a solid slug.

And do we really need another turret?  it would water-down the module protection system.

Electro magnet is completely different from accelerating particles.

"accelerating particles"?

That is neither a Rail gun nor a Gauss Rifle.

These two fire a solid slug along a rail at high velocities, using electromagnetic force.

Only difference is the direction the force is applied within the gun. No one would ever see this difference.

Are you thinking of a Particle Projection Cannon (PPc) al-la Mechwarrior?  Not the same thing. It's an "energy weapon".
