Perhaps this is not the right place to post this. Mods can move it.

If the devs just quit - stopped doing their jobs, skadoodled, whatever you want to call it, would the game go on? Like, if they left all the unfixed bugs unfixed, would the game crash, or would it keep functioning normally without any updates? I thought I would come on and ask this, considering I am about to be kicked from the waiting queue for JGR for the 3rd time...

Some big buyer(s) may buy the whole game and server(s) from the devs to keep the game running if the devs decide to walk away.  The new owner(s) could even bring in a new technical team to fix the bugs, but they will sure own some crazy invincible tanks like the current devs/mods. Running a server requires funding. If the weekly/monthly fees would not get paid, the servers would shut down once the paid-for time has run out.

Tanki isn't a thing you can just pay for once to buy. It requires constant funding in order to be maintained. And we're not talking about any sum that a typical "big buyer" could afford. A well established game with this many active players would probably be worth millions.

But what if the developers didn't existed since the beggining of the game and was only our imaginations? What if Tanki is run by an unknown force that is being unknown for a decade? The developers might be only people being controlled, they aren't real developers. They are puppeteers that are being manipulated by the forces, they are the face of the probably evil forces that are running the game.
