CP: allow us to capture a point even if they are in our teams possession.

The major objective of the mode is to capture points. Right now you can't cap any if your teams already got them all. And this doesn't bode for players with a specific mission or those that just don't want to feel like mults.

This game mode is called "control points" not "capture points, then spawn kill/camp the losing team".

I suppose it could be changed so that points start to become neutral if they haven't been contested for a long time. I agree - it can be quite frustrating when you're trying to do a CP mission and there's no points to capture due to your team winning and spawn-camping the enemy. Although this issue could also be solved by helping the losing team recover from being spawn-killed. We already have many proposals for doing this, including one you posted a while ago.

Feels like it's been a million years since I posted it.

 

But yeah I think to make sure it's worth it to the whole team to recapture already capped point, it could give like a 2-5 point bonus for the team for every successful recapture.

Out of the strange flash games I used to play, one had a domination mode. The blue and red teams started from opposite sides of the arena, which was divide into big squares or territories. In order to capture a territory, you had to stay in the area for like, 5 seconds. I think that's what the idea of the CP mode of Tanki is. The points are at major locations where you are susceptible to enemy fire.

One time I spawned on the red team with teammates of Level 20-25 (I myself was around level 15 so I was happy). But then I saw the blue team with mostly all around Level 40-50. They were advancing like a tide, capturing all territories and moving quickly towards our side. My team put up a great fight against them but still, the enemies were OP. I and a few others got killed while others remained fighting on the edge.

This seemed like a typical Tanki scenario with possible spawn-killing, except for one big change.

All those who got killed, including me, spawned randomly in the middle of the arena. We began capturing territories from there, with those remaining at our base keeping the blue team occupied. We narrowed them down to a small belt and won when the match ended.

Would the neutralization be gradually or suddenly? I think it should be gradually, about 3 seconds but no more than 4.

It wouldn't be good if it just went away after 3 seconds-so how about:

 

 after 60 seconds you can double capture it-and it will become a darker shade of red/blue?

So maybe give an incentive to control the point for 60 seconds or something like that.

Make it a defensive game.

Sorry, I didn't think this all the way through. (Open mouth, inset foot syndrome). Point would remain captured for 60 seconds and then begin to neutralize. Once it begins to neutralize that part would take 3 - 4 seconds. When it begins to neutralize, points cease until it is fully captured again.

But then missions would be like "Capture 10 Points" instead of "Capture 5 Points", and we would have to let it reset, which means no progress for the score, it also means a new type of mission mults, so we can capture it again.

Tanki should provide random spawn points in CP like that of DM.

I remember years ago devs said that the spawning would have different mechanics in CP. Players would spawn next to the points owned by their team, so the spawn locations would change constantly based on which point is in the team's possession. However, it seems like this system was scrapped.

Players should spawn near enemy points, or at least not at a 'spawn-kill' zone.

In some maps like Serpuhov, the situation is not that bad as there are way to reach the enemy base without getting noticed. What I do is I go and capture the point nearest to their base. While they come to capture it back, my team captures all others.

But this is very difficult in open maps like Massacre. Your team is literally boxed in when the enemy team is OP.

 

Moreover, random spawn points have their plus points with Overdrives, too. A Titan dome in the center of the map is better than that at a random corner.

Then if the point wouldn't really reset-you would just be able to recapture it in a darker shade after 60 seconds-that wouldn't create mission mults. You would still defend the point for 60 seconds so you can capture it again.

Maybe capturing a point gives points for the team score and for player scores, and then it immediately resets to 0 for another process of capturing.

 

The capturing could be slower so it would require team work.

 

If capturing is interrupted the progress could slowly reverse. And what if it continues past 0 and starts slowly gaining progress for the other team? as if it was broken, that would be fun.

 

But that would be more like Capturing Points and not Control Points.

I'm thinking the point limit on the mode is raised (its already kinda low) and a team gets more points when allies are actually on the CP. For maps with alot of points, the relitive "extra" points for controling a CP will be less, and for maps with a small number of CPs a bit more so it's equal.

Are you sure you want the point to neutralize-and it shouldn't turn a darker shade?

How many darker shades do you want? Until it turns black? No, I'd rather see it neutralize and recapture. It would be easier to keep track of the cps.

How many darker shades do you want? Until it turns black? No, I'd rather see it neutralize and recapture. It would be easier to keep track of the cps. 

Maybe a light, medium, and dark.

Otherwise you are also removing the whole element of neutralizing points-which according to my idea-would need a higher battle score.
