Buff hornet+dict OD in non-team battles

Recommended Posts

My idea is simple. As it says in the title, hornet and dictator overdrives should be buffed in non-team battles. That is because these are the 2 overdrives that help team members, so obviously they will be less powerful in non-team battles. Titan also does, but I think that titan is powerful enough. By buffing, I mean just quicker reload time or longer effect of OD.

Hornet's X-ray ability for teammates is a very minor bonus that doesn't make as much of a difference. For the actual user, the protection ignore combined with X-ray is an insanely powerful ability in DM. I can tell you that from first-hand experience, since I've been using Hornet in DM ever since overdrives were released.

As for Dictator, it got a buff that's useful in DM in a very recent update. Now, any enemy tank in the activation radius gets instantly frozen.

Then what is the point of X-rays?

Obvioslly they can actually help-since its good to know the location of the enemy.

They help, but not to such an extent that not having them would require Hornet to get a compensatory buff.

Buffing hornet... Yeah right. Dictator makes sense, because that range wouldn't catch ANYONE ever. I hit 2 enemies with it in... How long has it been, 3 days?

And I find that getting close to the enemy really downplays the repair kit from the Overdrive. I often find myself dead seconds after I use it because the enemies have to be close so they see me and react accordingly. The enemies seem to unfreeze rather quickly.

I feel more comfortable playing Dictator with teammates than playing Dictator solo.

You also see the HP bars of enemies so you would know who to target or if to use double damage or not.

I agree they help. The question is if:

or not.

How much do protections actually help?

A lot. You can survive many more Thunder shots when you have a max-levelled Thunder module equipped. A max-levelled Isida module will make an Isida expend its entire energy supply on you just to kill you and that is assuming they don't lose out on any random ticks of damage with you moving around. A max-levelled Twins module increases your survivability by a lot. All of these are useful even at lower percentages.

And double armour is basically a 50% module in itself. It puts you on the same level as an enemy using double damage alone and gives you an advantage over a player with no supplies. You cna't raid a fortified base without double armour.

On an old account of mine, with hornet/thunder m3 and few MUs, I went from being the worst player to getting into top 3 in deathmatch (And I don't have sledgehammer, cause it's an older account than that alt)... Cause hornet ignores protections, so thunder just 2 shots people. It becomes increasingly strong the more you go along with ranks, with DA being near permanent and 35-50% protections existing.

I guess maybe it does-but my M1+ isida protection hardly helps.

Well that's a low percentage and each tier is tailored to evenly fight against the hulls of that tier so you'd see them being strong when you're down in the lower ranks. And that's a melee range turret so I don't really expect the module to do that much down there. But think about how much shorter you could have been alive if 15% (at least) of each tick's damage was taken away from your module.

I can say that the tier increases and the number of % protection is not linear.
